Chapter 1450: Chapter 1450: Yes, I’ve come to realize

She naturally could not find out anything from the Emperor and the Empress Dowager, nor did she dare to rashly place her own people among theirs. However, it was different with Princess Consort Lian.

Even if the Emperor no longer favored the Empress, the Empress still ruled over the harem. The matter of arranging palace maids was for the Empress to decide.

Planting a few people inside was simply a matter of saying the word.

"What?!"

The Empress, startled by the nanny’s words, covered her lips and nearly let out a scream.

"Nanny, is this true?"

Sui Zimo wasn’t actually the biological child of Princess Consort Lian? How could that be?

She remembered that Princess Consort Lian did indeed give birth to a son back then, and the midwife was arranged by the Empress herself.

How had it come to the point where Sui Zimo was no longer considered Princess Consort Lian’s biological son? Didn’t that mean that, in fact, Sui Zimo was not a royal of the Wei State at all?

"It is true, there can be no mistake," the nanny nodded and said with great certainty.

"Then... does the Emperor know about this?"

The Empress hesitated for a moment before she asked.

Such a big matter, swapping a prince within the royal family, the Emperor couldn’t possibly be unaware, could he?

"It seems, according to what I heard, that this was the Emperor’s idea," said the nanny, again lowering her voice.

"Hiss!"

The Empress took a sharp breath.

The Emperor’s idea, to exchange his own son for a child who was not of the royal lineage?

No wonder, she thought. Even though Sui Zimo was said to be born under an unlucky star, he was still the Emperor’s son. How could he be treated so harshly?

Cast out directly was one thing, but he was even poisoned and controlled, used for their purposes, and that use lasted for so many years.

Now, both the Emperor and Princess Consort Lian seemed desperate to have the man killed.

Saying they wanted him dead wasn’t an overstatement, was it?

The life that Sui Zimo had led over these years couldn’t really be called living, could it?

"If this is truly the case, then why did I, the Empress, go to such lengths to target Sui Zimo?"

She targeted Sui Zimo not just to suppress Princess Consort Lian and Prince Lin, mother and son, but to pave the way for her own son, right?

But now it seemed that Sui Zimo had nothing to do with Princess Consort Lian at all. Didn’t that mean all the efforts she made over the years were in vain, and she even ended up providing great help to Princess Consort Lian!

Just thinking about it made her regretful!

"This..."

Upon hearing the Empress’s words, the nanny also didn’t know how to respond.

Yes, the Emperor had deceived the Empress miserably. Obviously, Prince Mo wasn’t of the royal bloodline, yet the truth was kept hidden all along. And the Emperor had watched as Prince Mo took down Prince Lin, sending him to the distant Sui Commandery!

"Your Highness, perhaps the Emperor also had his unspoken difficulties," the nanny said after some thought.

"Hehe."

The Empress let out a cold laugh.

The Emperor’s unspoken difficulties, would she believe such a thing?

"I want to see what sort of difficulties the Emperor could have! Nanny, fetch my favorite dress for me. Tomorrow, I wish to admire the flowers in the Imperial Garden," she ordered the nanny.

Upon hearing this, a light shone in the nanny’s eyes.

"Your Highness, you’ve finally come to terms with it. Indeed, why should you be angry with the Emperor over this? It isn’t worth it at all, and it’s only to the advantage of that sly vixen, Princess Consort Lian!"

"Indeed, I have come to terms with it," the Empress nodded, yet in her heart, she was sneering.
