Chapter 1419: Chapter 1419: Let’s Exchange Some Truths
You’re right, there’s no better day than today. Why wait to take down that old Grand Old Master Chen, who has committed so many evils?
Should we really keep him around for the New Year?
"Right... right now... isn’t... isn’t that impossible?"
Madam Chen shivered involuntarily upon hearing their words.
The thought of Grand Old Master Chen possibly not being a member of the Chen Family, and worse, the villain within who turn her husband into a brute and even killed him...
A chill rose from the depths of her heart.
"Of course it’s possible. Why wouldn’t it be?"
Lin Caisang blinked and glanced at her before walking out side by side with Sui Zimo.
Ling’er also stood up, ready to join them in their venture.
However, as they had not yet reached the doorway, Ling’er noticed that both Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo simultaneously paused their steps. They turned their heads back in unison and looked at her.
"Ling’er, didn’t we steer away from the topic, hmm?"
Lin Caisang stroked her chin, appearing thoughtful as she looked at Ling’er who was prepared to follow them to enjoy the spectacle.
They initially intended to inquire about the true state of Madam Chen’s health, but somehow, the conversation had veered towards them preparing to immediately take down Grand Old Master Chen. Why?
"What?"
Ling’er felt a sudden lurch in her heart and silently cursed, her hands clenching tightly behind her back.
Simultaneously, Madam Chen also snapped back to reality after being reminded by Lin Caisang.
"Ling’er, did you do this on purpose?" she asked, looking accusingly at Ling’er.
She had been wondering how the conversation had shifted towards Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo going after Grand Old Master Chen. Even if they were to go after him, shouldn’t they resolve her issues first?
"I..."
Ling’er turned pale and clenched her teeth, refusing to speak.
"Ling’er, if you want us to deal with Grand Old Master Chen, you’re going to have to trade some real information for it, don’t you think?" Lin Caisang said with a smile, gazing at Ling’er.
"And let me tell you, my Brother Molian’s appearance fee is quite expensive. He’s not someone you can simply coax into fighting your battles, especially when you seem to underestimate the people at Wuzhu Teahouse, right?"
She said, observing Ling’er.
Just now, she had stood up, following Brother Molian’s lead, just to gauge Ling’er’s reaction. Sure enough, upon seeing them stand to confront Grand Old Master Chen, a triumphant smirk had flickered in Ling’er’s eyes.
But were they really so easily manipulated?
"I..."
Ling’er opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words.
"Let’s sit down and talk this through properly."
Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo took each other’s hands and sat back down, while Madam Chen likewise returned to her seat, all three fixing their gaze on Ling’er.
After a long while, out of sheer helplessness, Ling’er finally sat down, grinding her teeth.
"Fine, I’ll talk."
What other choice did she have, other than to speak? Did she even have a second option?
Or perhaps if Lin Caisang and Sui Zimo were willing to help her and get rid of the menace that was Grand Old Master Chen, she could reveal it all.
"Madam, you need not worry. In fact, you have not yet died."
She said, addressing the first sentence to Madam Chen.
"I’m not dead? Then..."
Madam Chen looked towards the plate of pastries that Lin Caisang had left on the table.
