Chapter 1411: Chapter 1411: Can’t Help but Clench
Which is to say, Madam Chen had been consuming the corpse nurturing herb for already two years, what does that represent?
"This corpse nurturing herb, besides preserving the body intact, is only consumed by the demon beasts of the Ghost Clan. Of course, I don’t believe Madam Chen looks like a demon beast from the Ghost Clan."
She added one more sentence at the end.
"Of course, perhaps Madam Chen is like Hongjin and Hongyin."
Sui Zimo: "..."
Sang’er, are you joking with me?
Like Hongjin and Hongyin? Are Hongjin and Hongyin two normal people?
This girl, even when she jokes, she doesn’t even crack a smile. Aside from helping with chores, Hongjin and Hongyin do not laugh, do not cry, and don’t even need... uh, that doesn’t count, at least when it comes to meal times, Hongjin and Hongyin need to be put back in the water, they do need to eat.
But indeed, these two little ones are not normal people.
A demon always has its flaws, but Madam Chen... he could not see where she resembled a demon at all.
"You think Madam Chen was already beaten to death by Old Master Chen two years ago?" he asked softly.
"Otherwise?"
Lin Caisang retorted.
Otherwise, how would a living person need to use the corpse nurturing herb to sustain themselves... No, not that, it was Madam Chen who was being kept alive by the corpse nurturing herb by Ling’er, her servant.
And Madam Chen herself seemed to be unaware of this!
"I just don’t understand, since Madam Chen had been dead for so long, why did Ling’er, after so much time, want to take revenge for Madam Chen, and directly killed Old Master Chen."
A person couldn’t possibly do something extreme without a reason, right?
Perhaps Old Master Chen did something outrageous, provoking Ling’er?
"Just inquire once more, and you will know," Sui Zimo said.
"I’ll go this time."
Lin Caisang stood up and walked towards the door.
"Together."
Sui Zimo followed her, took her hand, and the two of them left.
...
In Madam Chen’s courtyard.
When Ling’er returned, she was startled to see that the table before Madam Chen was empty, even the dish that held the pastries was gone.
"Madam, have your pastries... all been eaten?" she suppressed the astonishment in her heart and asked Madam Chen.
"Not yet."
Madam Chen merely glanced at her and shook her head.
"I was just talking with Miss Lin a moment ago, and when she mentioned that Young Master Ya enjoys pastries, I sent all the pastries you made to Miss Lin. The pastries were of good quality; Young Master Ya will surely like them."
As she spoke, she stared intently at Ling’er, indeed catching a fleeting look of terror in her eyes, though it was but a quick flash, she still captured it.
Ling’er’s hand hidden in her sleeve clenched tight upon hearing Madam Chen’s words.
After the initial shock had subsided, her eyebrows relaxed, and she smiled at Madam Chen, "Since Young Master Ya likes them, this servant will make more tomorrow and send them to Miss Lin’s room."
"Hmm."
Madam Chen lightly responded.
"Ling’er, when you went out of the mansion today, did you manage to buy everything that was needed?"
She asked.
"Everything has been bought, Madam," Ling’er dutifully said.
"Good."
Madam Chen nodded.
"It’s getting late, go prepare dinner."
"Yes, this servant will take her leave." Ling’er complied and then withdrew.
After she left, Madam Chen took a deep breath and rose from her chair.
