Chapter 1345: Chapter 1345: Will It Matter If You’re Missing?
He was almost stunned by her questions.
"Why wouldn’t I go? That’s women’s work. What would it look like if I went? Are you afraid that Ya Molian won’t suspect us? Are you upset about that?"
It was clearly something Beidou and Nangong Piao’er were used to doing. If he, a man, interfered, wouldn’t he be afraid that Sui Zimo would suspect their motives? Could this woman be any more foolish?
"If I tell you to go, you go. What’s with all the fuss? Go now!"
"Fine, I’ll go. Are you happy now?"
Ban Yilu had no choice but to turn and walk towards the door.
But her face couldn’t possibly look good, because she was going to work at Sui Zimo’s house—it stunk to high heaven.
"Ban Yilu, fix your face!"
Ya Jinghong noticed her expression and immediately reached out to stop her.
"With that face, Beidou and Nangong Piao’er will give you a warm welcome, sure, and you think you’ll be allowed into Ya Molian’s house? Not a chance!"
"I..."
Ban Yilu ground her teeth in frustration, took a deep breath, and could only force herself to show a reluctant smile as she looked at Ya Jinghong.
"Is this better now? Such a fuss over nothing—it’s just two country bumpkins, what’s so great about them that I should treat them with a smile?"
In her heart, she felt that just speaking to Beidou and Nangong Piao’er was already giving them great honor. What else did they want from her?
"Ban Yilu!"
Ya Jinghong glared at Ban Yilu.
"If you keep this up, I will ask the master to send you back. You’re not suited to stay here any longer."
He threatened out loud.
"What?!"
Ban Yilu was shocked, unable to believe her own ears.
As a woman, she had already married Ya Jinghong. In the future, the master would certainly expect her to follow this man for life. How could she leave, and where could she go?
"Ya Jinghong, how could you do this? We are husband and wife!" she said.
"To hell with husband and wife, with wives like you, a dime a dozen, do you think I’d miss having you?"
"You—"
Ban Yilu was seething with anger but couldn’t really do anything to Ya Jinghong.
Ya Jinghong was a true Ya Village native, someone who rose in status only after the master’s favor. In the master’s eyes, Ya Jinghong would never provoke Sui Zimo’s suspicion, hence the master would not abandon Ya Jinghong as a pawn.
But she was different. There were many like her around the master; the master wouldn’t care about losing one like her.
"Hurry up and find Beidou and Nangong Piao’er—if you mess this up, wait and see how I deal with you when you get back!" Ya Jinghong threatened her again when he saw she had nothing to say.
Hearing this, Ban Yilu pursed her lips, daring not to say another word, and left.
...
In Sui Zimo’s house, as usual, Beidou, Nangong Piao’er, Ya Enxi, and Ya Yufeng were all there helping to clean.
"Sister-in-law Beidou, are you all busy?"
When Ban Yilu arrived, everyone was bustling about and hadn’t even heard her approach.
"Yilu, how come you have time to come over? Didn’t you say earlier that there was something you needed to attend to at home?" Beidou asked, turning to face her upon hearing her voice.
When Ban Yilu had seen Sui Zimo earlier, she had run off quicker than anyone, disappearing in a flash.
Beidou figured Ban Yilu must have gone back home to discuss with Ya Jinghong how to find out why their master had come back.
Her visit now must be to probe them for information.
