Chapter 1338: Chapter 1338: Without Adding Some Drugs, It Won’t Work

"Drag them all away!" Zimo ground his teeth as he ordered the guards.

"Yes, my lord," the guard replied.

All five men in black were dragged away, leaving only Lin Caisang and Zimo in the courtyard.

"It seems I was wrong!"

Zimo came over to Lin Caisang, relieved to see she was unharmed, yet his expression remained grave.

It was him who, wishing to be alone with Sang’er, had sent the guards to watch outside the courtyard, while Zhe Jue, upon receiving his orders, went off to prepare the medicinal materials and items Caisang needed.

"No one’s at fault; those people are just too cruel," Lin Caisang said.

She too hadn’t expected that merely appearing by Zimo’s side would prompt those men to try to capture her and use her as a hostage to threaten Zimo.

"It seems that those men are indeed not to be underestimated, and I’ll need to redouble my efforts," she reflected.

Though she now possessed the Wind Spirit Whip, she hadn’t yet learned to control it. She had swung it twice earlier and had it not been for her residual strength, she might have injured herself as well.

Therefore, if she wanted to stay by Brother Molian’s side, she had to strive to become stronger.

"Who do you think sent these men?" she asked.

"No one other than Prince Yi’s Mansion would dare to make a move against me so brazenly," Zimo said.

The Empress Dowager, the Emperor, even Princess Consort Lian and Zijin, wouldn’t act rashly without concrete information about how close she and Sang’er were to him.

Thus, it had to be Princess Consort Yi, who was undoubtedly driven to near madness.

"If that’s the case, applying more pressure might just coax out some information from her that we want to know," Lin Caisang suggested.

"Hmm," Zimo murmured in agreement.

But applying more pressure could mean greater danger for Sang’er.

"Once Zhe Jue prepares the items tomorrow, we shall return to Ya Village. You should stay at home for the next few days," he decided after some thought.

"Okay," Lin Caisang readily agreed.

Ever since their arrival by Leyang Lake, there had been a lack of tranquility. There might be no one wishing her dead, but those who sought to grasp Zimo’s Achilles’ heel were abundant.

"I’ll concoct some medicine for you tonight. Princess Consort Yi certainly won’t spill the truth so easily without a dose of persuasion," she said.

Upon hearing this, Zimo simply raised his hand and gently caressed her cheek.

"Come with me to the kitchen."

"Okay," Lin Caisang responded, and they both went to the kitchen.

...

Upon Leyang Lake.

The sky had darkened, but many pleasure boats still dotted Leyang Lake, illuminated as if by the phrase ’lit with bright lights.’

On one such boat, a guard approached Zijin.

"My lord, I have inquired: Prince Mo and the lady are staying in a villa here. It seems they plan to reside here for a few days to enjoy the peach blossoms," the guard reported.

"Tsk," sneered Zijin upon hearing this.

"He’s certainly living comfortably, isn’t he? Still wants to enjoy the peach blossoms for a few more days? He doesn’t fear becoming an eye-catching peach blossom himself," he mocked.

The Emperor is ill now, and even he had to sneak out, fearing that discovery would lead to a charge of gross disrespect by the Emperor. Yet, Zimo can openly bring the girl he fancies to enjoy the flowers.

"My lord, should we pay a visit to the villa?" the guard asked softly.

At this, Zijin merely lifted his eyes and glanced at him.
