Chapter 1246: Chapter 1246: Such an Honor Should Be Enough, Right?
Furthermore, as a son, he keeps cursing his own mother to fall ill.
Only her unfilial son could do something like this, right? How could she have given birth to such a son? It’s like he’s trying to infuriate her to death!
"Has the imperial decree arrived at Prince Mo’s Mansion?" she immediately asked.
"It has not."
The nanny shook her head.
"Empress Dowager, although the imperial decree has already reached Prince Mo’s Mansion, Prince Mo and the female doctor had barely entered the mansion before they left again. It is heard that they haven’t returned to this day.
Therefore... even if those sent by the Emperor are willing, they cannot find anyone to proclaim the imperial decree."
"In that case..."
Upon hearing the nanny’s words, the Empress Dowager fell silent for a short while before she stood up.
Seeing this, the nanny immediately reached out to steady the Empress Dowager.
"Nanny, are you saying that you want..."
"Even if I am too ill to make sense, waiting is not an option. Command them below, I will personally go to Prince Mo’s Mansion and wait for that female doctor," the Empress Dowager instructed the nanny.
Upon hearing this, the nanny was startled.
Was the Empress Dowager planning to publicly confront the Emperor?
But that made sense, considering the Emperor had cursed the Empress Dowager’s health more than once. As a mother and the mother of the nation, how could she tolerate someone repeatedly using her health as a point of contention?
Even if that person was her own son, the Emperor, it was still unacceptable, right?
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The nanny complied, let go of the Empress Dowager’s hand, and went outside to give the orders.
...
"What did you say? Where has the Empress Dowager gone?"
In the Imperial Study, when the Emperor heard what Eunuch Gui said, his heart skipped a beat and he asked loudly.
"Replying to the Emperor’s question, the Empress Dowager has entered the palace, and your servant has found out that she is heading to Prince Mo’s Mansion," Eunuch Gui told the Emperor again.
"What?!"
The Emperor simply couldn’t believe his ears and stood up in shock.
His mother, was she specifically coming to oppose him? He wanted to declare the female doctor’s entry into the palace, to keep her locked within the inner palace, never to leave, yet his mother, regardless of his imperial decree, went directly to Prince Mo’s Mansion?
"What do you even do, to report only now that the Empress Dowager has left the palace?" he questioned Eunuch Gui.
"Emperor, your servant... your servant has only just received the news. Only a few people by the Empress Dowager’s side knew of her leaving the palace, and she didn’t take a carriage but was carried out of the palace in a sedan chair."
Eunuch Gui knelt down as he explained.
Of course, he waited until the Empress Dowager had left the palace before reporting; otherwise, he’d be waiting for the Emperor to bring the Empress Dowager and her entourage back, right?
If that were to happen, not only would the Empress Dowager not let him off lightly, but even his own master would tear him to pieces, wouldn’t he? He had finally achieved some success and did not want to see it all come to nothing!
"Hiss... Huff!"
After hearing his words, the Emperor sharply inhaled and then heavily exhaled.
He never expected that his birth mother would be the first to obstruct him; he had thought that the first would surely be Sui Zimo.
In fact, he had already made preparations. If the female doctor indeed accepted the imperial decree to enter the palace, nothing could be better; he would directly confer the title of concubine on the young girl.
Such an honor should be sufficient, surely even that proud young girl would gladly accept it, definitely.
