Chapter 1167: Chapter 1167: That’s Poisonous Beef

"Very well, I shall attend to it immediately," the official said.

County Magistrate Jin, holding the prescription in his hand, showed an excitement that anyone could see.

He hurriedly turned around and instructed the people beside him to prepare the medicine.

"Miss Lin, is there anything else?"

Having arranged for the medicine to be prepared, he turned back around and looked at Lin Caisang, who was speaking with the Eldest Prince.

"Is that so? Alright, I will have someone attend to it right away," the Eldest Prince spoke in a hushed tone, and after a word, he discreetly ordered someone to do something.

"County Magistrate Jin, please bring all the people from the families in the village that were poisoned here, without missing a single one," Lin Caisang directed toward County Magistrate Jin.

"This..."

County Magistrate Jin was puzzled upon hearing her request.

Why gather all the people here, and not miss a single one?

"Miss Lin, what is the meaning of this...?"

"I’ve discovered that the poisoned beef might not require consumption to affect someone; merely touching it with the hands might be enough, though the poisoning is slower and might not be detected immediately. Therefore, I would like everyone to come here and queue up so I can take their pulse," Caisang explained.

"I see, that should be manageable," County Magistrate Jin said, comprehending the request. He immediately ordered people to gather everyone in the village who could have possibly touched the beef to come here.

Upon hearing they could get a free pulse reading, the villagers of Xinghua Village, regardless of whether they had eaten or touched the beef, all gathered in front of Old Wang’s house to wait for Lin Caisang to take their pulse.

Lin Caisang observed the crowd without a word. She moved a table and a stool out from Old Wang’s house and started taking the pulses of those lined up.

After quite some time...

’Thump, thump!’

The sound of heavy objects hitting the ground came from not far away.

The crowd was initially waiting for Lin Caisang to take their pulse, but upon hearing the noise, they all turned to look in that direction.

The next moment, panic ensued as the crowd scattered to the side, avoiding the two piles of bright red meat.

"Poisoned beef, that’s the poisoned beef! Wasn’t it already burned? How can there still be more?" someone among the villagers cried out in horror, causing everyone’s hair to stand on end.

An attendant approached the Eldest Prince and reported with respect.

"Eldest Prince, following your instructions, I searched through every household in Xinghua Village and indeed, in the courtyard of a home at the west end of the village, I found this beef. When I saw it... it had been sliced into beef slices, laid out on drying mats, seemingly in preparation for drying for later use," the guard reported.

"What?!"

Before the Eldest Prince could respond, County Magistrate Jin cried out in shock upon hearing the attendant’s words.

By golly, a few bites of beef could poison a person unconscious, and yet someone dared to dry the toxic beef for future use; what were they thinking?

"Eldest Prince, regarding this..."

His heart was trembling with fear. What in the world was happening in Xinghua Village?

"This matter is not appropriate for this prince to intervene. County Magistrate Jin, you should see to it yourself," the Eldest Prince said coldly to County Magistrate Jin.

If it weren’t for Caisang’s foresight in asking him to dispatch people to search the area, he would have been unaware of such a significant hazard still lurking within Xinghua Village.

With so much poisoned beef, if someone with ill intent were to take it, it’s terrifying to think of the vile deeds it could be used for!
