Chapter 1145: Better Leave Quickly
Chapter 1145: Chapter 1145: Better Leave Quickly
Not long after, Old Master Zhou came over with the property deed in hand.
He searched in his second brother’s room for quite some time; other than the property deed, he didn’t find anything else, as everything had been cleaned out.
"Dad, here is the property deed, for you."
He didn’t dare to hand the property deed directly to Granny Hua but instead handed it to his own father.
In doing so, even if his second brother came to make a fuss in the future, he could say that it was their father who personally handed over the property deed, and that it had nothing to do with him.
Elder Mr. Zhou coldly stared at his son and motioned with his mouth.
"Give it to her."
Upon hearing this, Old Master Zhou hesitated, looking down at the property deed in his hand, a trace of difficulty appearing on his face.
"Dad, why don’t you give it to her? I... truly can’t bring myself to do it," he said.
Hearing his son’s words, Elder Mr. Zhou took a deep breath, and as he was about to raise his hand, another hand, quicker than his, reached out to snatch the property deed from Old Master Zhou’s grasp.
Who knew...
"Ah!"
The reaching hand was slapped away by Old Master Zhou.
"What are you doing?!"
After a scream, Madam Zhou covered her reddened backhand and glared at her husband, demanding an explanation.
It was his own deed that he was hesitating to give, so why wasn’t he happy when she was willing to hand it over to Granny Hua? Did he actually want to see those thugs behind her beat them all to death before he would be satisfied?
"Get out of the way!"
Old Master Zhou glared at her irritably and continued to hand over the property deed to his father.
At this moment, Elder Mr. Zhou still hadn’t quite grasped what was happening; he only thought of quickly handing over the property deed so that his family could be safe and not be eyed hungrily by those thugs.
He took the property deed in his hand and, walking with unsteady steps, he went up to Granny Hua and handed it directly to her.
"Here."
Granny Hua was naturally not about to be polite and took the property deed into her hands.
"Elder Mr. Zhou, for this residence, I reluctantly offer you four hundred silver taels, and you still owe my boss a hundred taels. Therefore, these servitude contracts can’t be returned to you. After all, we can’t let my boss engage in a losing trade, can we?"
"You—"
Elder Mr. Zhou was livid with anger.
But what could he do? His life and the lives of his family were in their hands, and those thugs even had large knives.
"If you won’t give them back, then don’t."
The servants and maids had long since vanished. Even if he had those servitude contracts in his hand, what use would they be?
He didn’t believe that if those people didn’t have someone backing them up, they would have dared to run away from him.
"Elder Mr. Zhou is indeed wise."
Granny Hua raised an eyebrow and stuffed all the servitude contracts into her pocket, then turned to leave.
However, she hadn’t taken two steps before she turned back, looking at Elder Mr. Zhou.
"By the way, Elder Mr. Zhou, since this residence no longer belongs to the Zhou family, you should leave quickly. Don’t wait for my boss to send someone over to evict you; that would be rather embarrassing, wouldn’t it?"
Upon hearing this, Elder Mr. Zhou was completely stunned.
He had only been thinking about quickly getting rid of these people and had not considered, once they handed over the property deed, where they would live. And now it was already late at night.
But from the looks of it, Granny Hua intended to make them leave right now.
"Fine, we’ll leave!"
