Chapter 1087: Chapter 1087: Well Played, Ms. Ding
"Aunt Ding, I haven’t done anything to your family."
Under the moonlight, she looked at Ms. Ding earnestly and spoke indifferently.
"How can you say you haven’t done anything to my family? I only found out today that the servant girl from the Zhou family was sold off, and it was you, wasn’t it? It was definitely you who bought her back! Sangsang, why must you oppose my family like this?
What exactly did I do to offend you, making you go to such extremes? Now, my son is even trying to take his own life over that servant girl; please, just hand her over."
Hearing her words, Lin Caisang gave a cold laugh.
Was this a plea for help? It was clearly an accusation, a demand to hand someone over.
"Sangsang, what is going on here? When did Ms. Ding’s son get involved with you?" With them, there was Clan Chief Lin and a few other elders.
Hearing this, they too were puzzled and looked at Lin Caisang for an explanation.
"Clan Chief Grandfather..."
"Clan Chief, you must stand up for our family!"
Before Lin Caisang could explain, she heard Ms. Ding’s wail as she flung herself towards Clan Chief Lin.
Clan Chief Lin was taken aback, but having been rushed at several times before, he quickly reacted and took two large steps back, causing Ms. Ding to miss and fall face-first into the mud.
"Ouch! Ptooey, ptooey!"
With her mouth full of mud, Ms. Ding spat in discomfort.
"Sangsang..."
Clan Chief Lin looked at Lin Caisang, signaling for her to speak first.
"Clan Chief Grandfather, you should be aware of the rumors that have been spreading in the village about me and Brother Molian," Lin Caisang reminded Clan Chief Lin, looking at him.
Upon hearing this, Clan Chief Lin and the other elders narrowed their eyes, one of them casting a stern look towards the spitting Ms. Ding.
"Was it this woman spreading those words in the village?"
Clan Chief Lin also directed his gaze at Ms. Ding.
"Well done, Ms. Ding, you don’t do a single upright task all day, but you’re always quick to get into sordid affairs. What did Sangsang and Molian ever do to you for you to ruin their reputation like this?"
He wondered why such rumors had suddenly arisen in the village when, in fact, before Ya Molian left, he had personally come to speak with him about it.
Turns out, it was Ms. Ding who deliberately spread the false stories.
"I... I..."
Just after Ms. Ding finished spitting out the mud, she saw the deep, wolf-like stares of Clan Chief Lin and the others and shuddered, stepping back.
"What could I do? My son likes a servant girl from the Zhou family and insists on marrying her. Should I just watch my son die?"
She didn’t feel a bit remorseful for her actions.
Instead, it was Lin Caisang, this little girl, who was infuriating—making a big deal out of a trivial matter that could have been overlooked, pressuring her so fiercely, and now even taking away the daughter-in-law she had settled on!
How was she supposed to live her days now, with her son...
The thought alone filled her with a sense of grievance!
"Lin Caisang, how can you be so heartless? I merely spoke a few unpleasant words about you; it’s not like I bit off a piece of flesh from you. Why must you be so relentless? If you want to blame someone, blame Madam Zhou—it was she who couldn’t stand to see you and Ya Molian together, making me talk like that. I just listened to her; it’s not my fault. It has nothing to do with me!"
