Chapter 1031 What are you eating?
Chapter 1031: Chapter 1031 What are you eating?
"Caisang, we are your Third Aunt’s relatives, so you’ll take good care of us in the future, won’t you? Even if not for us, at least for your Third Aunt’s sake, you can’t treat us poorly, right?"
He brazenly looked towards Lin Caisang, as if this were expected.
Lin Caisang: "!"
It seemed that this family still hadn’t realized what situation they were in, had they?
They still expected her to serve them hand and foot, as if they were deities descended from heaven.
"Rest assured, I’ll take ’good care’ of you!"
She spoke, deliberately emphasizing the words ’good care’.
In time, they would understand what it meant to rue one’s actions forever. Bought by her meant to work for her; dreaming of living comfortably was just that—a dream.
"Tooth Mama, once the paperwork is finalized, send them all to the mulberry garden. There’s work waiting for hands there," she instructed the tooth hag.
"Yes, the old woman understands. The Third Master has already given orders, and they’ll be brought to your place today," replied the tooth hag.
...
Before nightfall, the entire Yang family had been delivered to the mulberry garden and settled into their quarters.
The elder Yangs, still harboring hopes of being well looked after, were displeased to see the cramped accommodations that forced even married couples to sleep separately.
They clamored to see Lin Caisang, claiming some distant kinship with her.
But the steward of the mulberry garden was no fool and had already received orders from Lin Caisang: if this family caused any trouble, they were to be dealt with immediately, without consideration for anyone’s face.
Naturally, after the elder Yangs received a beating, they quieted down.
With the Yang family’s Chapter concluded, the trouble at the Zhou family was just beginning to unfold.
Inside the Zhou family ancestral hall, Zhou Yan kneeled, abandoned without anyone to bring her food or even water, as if everyone had suddenly forgotten her existence.
"Whimper, whimper."
She wiped her tears while thinking back on the recent events.
After everything had unfolded, her parents’ treatment of her consisted solely of scolding; they didn’t offer a single word of comfort. Her mother was not the least bit concerned about her prospects of marriage, instead worrying she would disgrace her brother!
She truly didn’t understand why she was born into such a family.
"Miss, Miss."
Suddenly, a faint voice came from outside the ancestral hall, startling Zhou Yan so much that she almost screamed.
Quickly, a frail man looking nervously outside sneaked in and, once beside Zhou Yan, pulled out two steamed buns and tucked them into her embrace.
"Miss, please eat quickly. I’ll keep watch for you outside."
"Wait."
Zhou Yan finally regained her composure, hastily wiping the tears from her face.
This man was the one who had been caught with her, and although she did not understand how everything had happened, she knew it all related greatly to her grandfather forcing her to show herself in front of Ya Molian that day.
"If I eat this, what will you eat?"
The Zhou family was always harsh on their servants; regardless of how hungry they were, they were only allowed two steamed buns at most, and if they were lucky, some pickles to go with it.
