Chapter 91: [Volume 1] Chapter 91- Again a guest?

Aron’s laughter abruptly stopped as he turned to face her, anger blazing in his eyes. "How dare you insult my wife?" he growled. "She’s a thousand—no, a million times better than you! And who said i call you ugly? Huh? I didn’t call you ugly." His voice dripped with venom as he added, "You’re not ugly. You’re beyond ugly."

He paused just long enough to let his words sink in before continuing, "It’s not just about having a face. Sure, you’ve got one, but what you don’t have is any character. You’re just a—"

He cut himself off, but the insult hung in the air, the unfinished sentence ringing louder than words ever could.

"I am what? Huh?" Esme challenged, her voice tight with barely restrained frustration. "Continue ! Why did you stop?" She shot back, daring Aron to finish his sentence.

Aron waved his hand dismissively, his tone exasperated. "Huh? Just forget it. I don’t want to waste my breath."

As the bickering between Esme and Aron intensified, Ray, kai and Jay exchanged amused glances, subtle smiles playing on their lips. This was the first time they had seen Esme so animated, her emotions flaring for all to see. Even when she had been friendly with them, Esme had never truly let her guard down—never laughed with the kind of freedom she was showing now.

Esme and Aron noticed her husbands laughing, and Esme, bewildered, shot them a questioning look. "What’s so funny?" she asked, but they refused to explain, their smiles only widening.

The truth was, in Esme’s life, there had only ever been three people she used to laugh with—well, five, but two of them were lost to her now. Her mother and father. Not the present valhale couple, but the ones she had before the accident—the parents who were the source of her happiness. Her mother, always the reason behind her laughter, and her father, who could bring a smile to her face even in the toughest of times. They had been the kind of family anyone would envy.

The third person was Helga, and then Aron, her childhood friends who could break through her walls of coldness and bring out the warmth buried deep within. And finally, the last person—someone Esme had lost forever—her lover, the one she couldn’t have, and the one whose absence left a gaping wound in her heart.

Aside from these precious people, Esme had never shown her true emotions to anyone. Yet here she was, caught in a heated exchange with Aron, her defenses down, with her husbands smiling as if they were witnessing a side of her they had longed to see but never expected.

Aron’s brothers stopped laughing and glanced at Esme, a smile tugging at their lips. Initially, they hadn’t believed her when she explained the plan—making everyone think she had a mistress just to lure the elders out. It seemed too ridiculous to work. How could anyone, especially the elders, fall for something so absurd?

But now, as they watched everything unfold, they were stunned. Who would have thought that these fools would actually live up to their expectations and fall right into the trap?

Soon, two days passed. The entire staff in the mansion had been replaced with trusted individuals, but the number of servants had dwindled to just ten. It felt sparse for a house of this size; previously, there had been fifteen, which now seemed excessive. Aron took on the role of butler, managing his duties with diligence.

As Esme and everyone sat down to eat, the tranquility was abruptly shattered when the door swung open with a bang. Aron’s brothers exchanged puzzled glances; ever since Esme had married into the family, their door seemed to attract chaos.

While they looked toward the entrance, Esme calmly continued eating her omelette, unfazed. Moments later, Helga walked in, a baby strapped to her back, her eyes scanning the mansion before she shouted, "Esme, valhale!"

Aron’s brothers were taken aback, unsure of what to make of the sudden commotion. But Esme simply reached for Ray’s hand, halting him. "Eat your food; it’ll get cold," she said nonchalantly.

Ray was bewildered. Here someone shouting her name with urgency, and yet Esme remained completely at ease, as if nothing was out of the ordinary.

Helga, spotting Esme from the stairs, rushed down with an expressionless face, almost robotic. The Aron brothers tensed up, ready to defend Esme as she approached.

But then, unexpectedly, Helga reached Esme and hugged her tightly, exclaiming, "You’re alive!" The room fell silent, everyone shocked by this sudden display of affection from someone usually so stoic.

Esme felt a chill at the embrace. "Get away from me," she warned, her voice icy. "Or I’ll stab this fork into you."

Instead of letting go, Helga held on tighter, her eyes finally showing emotion. "You don’t understand," she said urgently. "I thought I lost you."

The Aron brothers exchanged confused glances. They had never seen this side of Esme before. Normally irritated and angry with Aron, she now seemed almost embarrassed, caught off guard by Helga’s affection. For a moment, it looked as if she actually enjoyed the hug, her tension easing despite her icy words. It was a surprising shift that left everyone in the room wondering what was really going on beneath Esme’s usual facade.

"Let go," Esme repeated, but there was a hint of uncertainty in her voice, leaving everyone wondering what would happen next.

"You bitch", A soft voice broke the tension, drawing everyone’s attention. They turned to see Aaron, dressed as the butler, arms crossed and glaring at Helga and Esme with blazing eyes.

Helga, caught off guard, wore a startled expression but didn’t let go of Esme. "What the hell are you doing here, huh? Licking the baby like this?"

Without missing a beat, Aaron rushed forward, separating them. "Are you crazy? I’m your husband, not her! Stay away!" Instead of directing his frustration at Helga, he playfully kicked Esme.

Esme, unfazed, continued quietly eating her omelette as if this was just another day.
