Chapter 87: [Volume 1] Chapter 87- Cops.

"What the hell do you mean by *your* house?" the elder shouted, fury evident in his voice. "You have the guts to call this house yours after cheating on my nephews? Just you wait. I Call the cops right now!"

Esme raised an eyebrow, her expression calm despite the storm brewing around her. "Really? You’re going to stand there and spout accusations about mistresses and whatnot? And why would you call the cops? What can they do to me?"

The elder took a step closer, his face taut with anger. "You’re cheating, and now you think we’ll just let you be? Just because my nephews doesn’t have their parents, do you think you can do whatever you want?"

The brothers, standing beside him, exchanged uneasy glances, wanting to intervene but feeling silenced by the elder’s relentless tirade.

Esme, watching the chaos unfold, finally spoke up. "Okay, fine. Call the Cops. I am waiting."

After twenty to thirty minutes, the police arrived.

"Excuse me, someone called for me?" one officer asked, scanning the room.

The first aunt hurried forward, urgency in her voice. "Yes, I called you. I need to report—"

"Officers, I’m the one who called you," Esme interrupted, her voice cutting through the mounting tension in the room. The police officers exchanged confused glances, processing her words.

"What do you mean you called? It’s us who called them!" one elder exclaimed, clearly bewildered.

Esme offered a calm smile, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Maybe you’ve misunderstood. I called the cops before you arrived at this house."

The elder faltered, his anger momentarily replaced by confusion. "What?"

Turning to the officers, Esme continued, "Can you tell me when the report was made?"

The officer glanced at her watch, then looked back up, a hint of surprise in her voice. "It was about one hour ago."

"Yes, I was the one who called you," Esme said, her smile widening as realization dawned on the elders. They exchanged panicked looks, understanding they had been outmaneuvered. It hadn’t even been fourteen minutes since the Elders had arrived, yet she had already reported them an hour earlier.

Before they could process this shocking revelation, Esme pressed on, her tone steady. "I want to report them. They barged into my house unannounced, shouted at me, and even tried to hurt my husband."

The elders turned to her, disbelief etched across their faces. The first aunt stepped forward, outrage spilling from her lips. "What the hell do you mean I did it? I didn’t do anything!"

Esme’s smile remained, laced with a touch of mockery. "Sorry, first aunt—oh, I shouldn’t call you that, should I? After all, you’re just a cousin of my mother-in-law, not even her original sister. And it’s true that you all barged into my house. I have CCTV footage, officers. You can check the cameras at the door."

The police exchanged glances, sensing the tension escalating further. Esme leaned back slightly, her demeanor relaxed yet assertive, as she prepared to watch the fallout unfold.

Hearing that, the officer glanced around the room, maintaining a calm tone. "But there’s nothing broken or damaged here."

Esme smiled, her demeanor composed yet sharp. She leaned back slightly in her chair, fingers steepled in front of her. "I’m sorry, officer, but perhaps you’ve overlooked that mental harassment is also a form of abuse. These individuals have mentally assaulted my husband."

The officers exchanged uncertain looks, and one of them nodded, acknowledging the seriousness of her claim. Moments later, tension hung thick in the air as the officers began reviewing the CCTV footage.

The footage began to play, showing the elders gathered in the room. At first, everything appeared calm. Then suddenly, a scene from five days prior burst onto the screen: the elders shouting at Ashwin’s brothers when Esme was not present. Gasps filled the room, and several people leaned forward, straining to see.

Esme’s smile remained, but her eyes glinted with satisfaction as she watched their reactions. The elders were taken aback, their expressions shifting from confusion to shock. How could this footage be mixed in with the current events? They shifted nervously, glancing at each other.

They were oblivious to the fact that they were wearing the exact same clothes as in the video. The realization dawned on them: those outfits had been delivered by unfamiliar servants earlier that day. One elder’s hand flew to their mouth, stifling a gasp.

The police officers scrutinized the video closely, their brows furrowed in concentration. The evidence was clear and undeniable. It captured the elders taunting the brothers about their lack of pregnancy and berating Esme with hostility. Not a single clip showed Esme threatening anyone.

"See, officers?" Esme turned to face them, her voice steady and pointed. She gestured towards the screen, her hand slicing through the air. "These individuals were the ones threatening my husbands and me."

The officers exchanged confused glances, caught in a moral quandary. They shifted their weight, unsure how to proceed. They wanted to act against the elders but knew they were influential members of the Aran family. Arresting them could lead to significant repercussions.

One of the elders suddenly shouted, "She’s lying! We came here to comfort her! We didn’t shout at our nephews! If you don’t believe me, ask them!" They stepped forward, arms crossed defiantly.

As the officers turned to the Aran brothers, Ray, Kai, and Jai stood with red-rimmed eyes, their faces streaked with unshed tears. They shifted uncomfortably, glancing at one another before Ray took a shaky breath, his chin trembling.

Seeing their distress, the elders’ shock deepened, their expressions darkening with disbelief. The weight of the situation pressed heavily upon them, and for the first time, they seemed uncertain.

Jay, with tears artificially glistening in his eyes, covered his face dramatically, his body trembling. "Uncle, Aunt, I’m begging you, please let us go. Please stop torturing us." His voice quivered as if he were on the verge of breaking down, but there was a glint of calculation in his gaze.
