Chapter 64: [Volume 1] Chapter 64- Aron group Vs Valhale group !

Her words were delivered with lethal precision, each one designed to hit home.

"So tell me," she said, her voice deadly quiet, "what kind of parents don’t even grieve for their eldest daughter? And instead, they hand over the position of CEO to their second daughter." She paused, her next words hanging ominously in the air.

"And if that weren’t enough, you gave your eldest daughter’s fiancé to her younger sister as well. Tell me, Mrs. Valhalla, what kind of parents do that?"

The silence that followed was deafening. Mrs. Valhalla’s face was a mixture of anger and shame, while Diana’s expression had crumbled completely, her earlier confidence nowhere to be found. The rest of the room stood in shock, caught between Esme’s ferocious truth and their own stunned disbelief.

The truth is, everyone at the party knew it well: the Valhalla family, who outwardly expressed their deep love for their eldest daughter, had not even waited a full year or half a year before marrying their second daughter off to her fiancé. This move starkly contrasted with their professed affection, highlighting their true feelings.

Despite the facade of grief and respect, it was clear to everyone that neither Madam Valhalla nor Diana was fit for the CEO position. The Valhalla Group’s current stature was solely due to Esme’s efforts. Yet, after her success, she had been dismissed. Madam Valhalla and Mr. Valhalla publicly claimed to mourn her loss, but their actions betrayed a different story.

Madam Valhalla, already engaged, looked at Esme and said, "Alright, Miss Rose, let’s see if the Aron Group can stand against the Valhalla Group."

Esme’s reaction was a loud, defiant laugh. Madam Valhalla’s face mirrored confusion and surprise, as if questioning why Esme found this challenge amusing.

Esme’s gaze turned cold as she leaned closer to Madam Valhalla and said, "Just because a tiger is silent does not mean it can’t bite. Since you’ve challenged me, I accept. Here’s my bet: within a year, I will make the Valhalla Group bankrupt."

The room fell into stunned silence. This was unprecedented—a new leader openly challenging a powerful rival like the Valhalla Group. Madam Valhalla was momentarily taken aback, unable to determine whether Esme’s confidence was genuine or merely foolish bravado.

"Rose," Ray shouted, breaking the silence that had enveloped the room. Esme turned, her gaze falling on Ray as he struggled to stand.

Without a word, she walked over and knelt down, carefully placing his shoes on his feet. The room fell into a stunned silence; it was rare, almost scandalous, to see a woman publicly serving her husband in such a manner.

As Esme finished adjusting the shoes, Ray’s voice cut through the quiet. "A year? You asked for one year to bankrupt the Valhalla group?" His disbelief was palpable.

The onlookers braced themselves for a confrontation, expecting Ray to react with anger or offer a sharp rebuke. But what followed was even more shocking.

"You need a year to bring down this family? You fool! I gave you seven months. If you can’t bankrupt the Valhalla group within that time, then you should just divorce me."

The room fell into stunned silence. This couple was unlike any other. The first time Esme and Kai appeared at a banquet, they turned the entire engagement ceremony into a courtroom drama.

Now, with Ray—CEO and husband—demanding an impossible feat from a family with centuries of history, they had once again shocked everyone. The onlookers were left to wonder if their boldness was arrogance or an extraordinary confidence in their own power and their relationship.

While some guests were clearly shocked by the spectacle, others were seething with anger at the audacity displayed by Esme and Ray. Among the crowd, a few women even began to sympathize with Esme, viewing the public humiliation of her husband as an unforgivable affront to their reputation.

Diana, who had orchestrated this gathering, realized that things were spiraling out of control. If Esme and Ray left with their challenge unresolved, the real danger lay not in their defiance but in the potential fallout among the high-powered attendees.

Diana knew that if the elite began to align themselves with Esme, she risked losing influence and support. Many of these influential figures had worked closely with Esme before and held her in high regard.

The prospect of being outmaneuvered by her adversaries was troubling. Diana understood that maintaining her position required not only addressing the immediate situation but also navigating the shifting allegiances within the room.

Diana turned to me, approaching with a forced smile and a soothing tone. "Ms. Rose, please, we know we’ve done wrong and have tried to make a compromise. But Mr. Ray, please try to calm down. Miss Rose, please, talk to him. He will listen to you."

Ray’s voice was laced with anger as he addressed Diana.

"What do you want me to say to her, Ms. Valhale? Is it not true that you and your mother barged into my room, accusing us without cause? Or that your mother challenged our group?" He turned to survey the gathering crowd.

"Even though my mother has passed away, that doesn’t mean our group is vulnerable to anyone who wants to challenge us. And my wife has done nothing wrong. Do you think we can’t handle this situation? We came here out of respect, despite the disrespect your family showed my wife and brother last time. She came with a kind heart, wanting to avoid further conflict and protect everyone’s reputation. But did you understand that? No. Your mother was shouting at my wife, and you were shouting at me. You barged into my room. What exactly were you trying to prove? And accusing my wife of being a waiter? Please, don’t make excuses."

Before Diana could respond, Ray cut her off. "I know what you’re thinking. You’re assuming that because my wife and a waiter are both missing, they must be together. That they might be spending the night together. Is that it? Or is there something else you want to accuse us of?"
