Chapter 62: [Volume 1] Chapter 62- how dare you !
Soon, a group of curious onlookers rushed towards room 301, their steps hurried and filled with anticipation. Diana led the way, her strides confident, the faintest trace of a smile curling at the corners of her lips. With each step closer, her excitement grew. The pace of her heartbeat quickened, not out of concern, but with a deep, burning satisfaction. She could almost feel the moment she had been waiting for—her plan, her carefully crafted manipulation, finally about to unfold.
The hallway seemed to stretch before her, but with every echoing footstep, Diana’s mind raced, imagining what awaited her behind the door. She wanted to see it, to bask in the scene she had orchestrated. The thrill of knowing things were falling into place filled her with a quiet, thrilling delight.
As they neared the door to Room 301, Diana’s breath quickened, her eyes glinting with eagerness. This was her moment. She slowed down just slightly, savoring every second, as if prolonging the suspense would make the final reveal even more rewarding.
"Almost there," she thought to herself, her hand subtly brushing against the cool wall as she approached, barely containing the excitement that surged through her.
As Diana stood in front of the door, her excitement was unbearable. Her heart raced, and the adrenaline coursing through her veins pushed her to action. Without thinking twice, she kicked open the door, the force of it reverberating down the hallway.
"Who is here?" she shouted, her voice filled with both anticipation and triumph.
But the scene before her stopped her cold.
The room was pristine- immaculately clean. The curtains were drawn back, letting the soft light bathe everything in a golden hue. And there, on the bed, were Esme and Ray. Esme was straddling him, her lips pressed against his in a passionate kiss. The intimacy of the moment was undeniable, and for a brief second, time seemed to freeze.
Diana’s eyes widened in disbelief. This wasn’t what she had planned. This wasn’t what was supposed to happen. Esme, sensing the intrusion, broke the kiss and lifted her gaze, her eyes icy and unforgiving. "What the hell?" she shouted, her voice cold and cutting through the stunned silence like a blade.
Esme stood up slowly, her movements deliberate, adjusting her clothes with a calm, calculated air. She turned her cold, unforgiving gaze toward Diana, her eyes cutting through the tension in the room. The power in her stance made it clear she wasn’t going to let this slide easily.
"Miss Vallahle," Esme’s voice was sharp, dripping with disdain. "I believe you owe us a very good explanation for all of this."
Diana, who had moments ago been overflowing with excitement, now felt a cold wave of shock and confusion wash over her. Her plan had gone horribly wrong. The scene she had expected to witness was nowhere to be found. Instead, she was face-to-face with an intimate moment between Esme and Ray, neither of whom looked even remotely amused.
Ray, still struggling to cover himself with the blanket, shot a glare toward the intruding group. "What the hell are you all doing here?" he demanded, his voice a mix of embarrassment and anger.
Diana’s initial triumph crumbled, and for the first time, she found herself at a loss for
words.
Esme’s voice remained ice-cold as she glared at Diana. "I asked," she repeated, her tone sharp, "what the hell are you all doing in my room?"
Diana, who had felt the weight of excitement and anticipation just moments before, was now met with a wave of embarrassment. The others in the room, who had been gossiping eagerly, now turned red-faced and silent, quickly pointing in Diana’s direction, as if to throw her under the bus.
Esme turned her gaze back to Diana, her eyes hard. "Ms. Vallahle," she said with venom in her voice, "I’m still waiting for your explanation. What’s the meaning of barging into someone’s room like this?"
Diana swallowed hard, but instead of showing her anger, she plastered a strained smile on her face. She had to tread carefully now. "Oh, I’m sorry, Ms. Rose. You see..." Her voice faltered slightly, but she forced herself to continue.
Esme’s eyes flashed with irritation. "—what are you shuddering for?" she barked. "Just say what you want to say!"
Diana wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead, her tone becoming more hesitant. "Actually, a waiter went missing, and you both were gone for a while... we thought—" she stammered.
Esme interrupted with a cold sneer. "And what does that have to do with me? So what if a waiter went missing? The whole party could disappear for all I care." Her voice was unforgiving. "I’m not asking about the waiter. I’m asking why you barged into my room."
Diana, feeling the walls closing in on her, stammered, "Well, the staff said you were seen heading here with the waiter, and we just—"
Esme rolled her eyes, clearly fed up. "Yes, I came with a waiter. He showed me the room, then left. If I’m not wrong, this room is registered under my name. You can check if you need proof." She gave a smirk, but then her expression hardened. "And Ms. Vallahle, can you not read? I wasn’t aware the CEO of Vallahle Group was illiterate."
That final jab hit Diana like a slap. Her face flushed with a deep red as she clenched her fists. She wanted nothing more than to lash out, but she knew better. With everyone watching, she couldn’t lose control. "Restraint," she reminded herself, echoing the words of Aristotle: *"Anybody can become angry—that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, and to the right degree, and at the right time, and for the right purpose, and in the right way—that is not within everybody’s power and is not easy."*
She fought to keep her composure, knowing that this was not the moment for her rage to win.
Noah, who had been standing silently beside Diana, finally spoke, his voice steady yet firm. "Excuse me, Ms. Rose. Can I ask why you are calling my fiancée an illiterate person?" His expression remained composed, though there was a subtle edge in his tone.
