Chapter 47: [Volume 1] Chapter 47- Get Out!

The room was charged with tension as Ray’s words hung heavily in the air. The second aunt stood in front of him, her posture rigid, her face an expertly maintained mask of calm and warmth. Despite the chaos unfolding around her, she kept her composure, her eyes flickering with a mix of calculation and defensiveness.

Ray’s glare was icy and unyielding. "You’ve overstepped, Vice President," he said, his tone devoid of warmth. "I trusted you to handle certain matters, but this?" He gestured toward the Mer, crumpled on the floor like a discarded puppet. "This is a failure. And not just any failure—*your* failure."

The second aunt’s eyes narrowed slightly, but her expression remained smooth and polished. She met Ray’s gaze with a calculated calmness. "I assure you, Ray," she began, her voice smooth and unwavering, "this situation was never meant to escalate. I had every confidence".

Ray’s anger was palpable, an oppressive force that filled the room as he remained seated on the sofa, his posture rigid and his eyes burning with fury. His hands were clenched tightly into fists, the knuckles white against his skin, as he stared down the second aunt with an intensity that could cut through steel.

The second aunt stood before him, her composed demeanor cracking slightly under the weight of Ray’s gaze. She had always been adept at maintaining a facade of warmth and care, but now, as Ray’s anger lashed out at her, her usual calculated calm seemed increasingly tenuous.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" Ray’s voice was a low, venomous growl. He didn’t rise from the sofa, but the sheer force of his anger seemed to magnify from his seated position. His eyes were fixed on the second aunt, radiating a fierce, unrelenting fury. "Do you think this is acceptable? That you can just brush off the fact that a Mer breached security, assaulted my wife, and drugged her?"

The second aunt shifted uncomfortably, her veneer of poise showing signs of cracking. "Ray, I assure you—"

Ray cut her off with a sharp gesture, his anger bubbling over. "Don’t ’assure’ me! You’ve failed in your duties. This is not about assurances. This is about results. You allowed someone like this"—he jerked his head toward the Mer, still sprawled pathetically on the floor—"to get close enough to harm my family. And you did nothing!"

His words were a fierce barrage, each one delivered with a cold, precise edge. The second aunt’s eyes flicked nervously toward the bodyguards who had taken the Mer into custody. The weight of Ray’s anger was almost physical, pressing down on her and making it hard to breathe.

"I don’t want excuses," Ray continued, his voice steady but laced with a sharp edge of contempt. "I want to know how you let this happen. Why was there a lapse in security? And who authorized this breach?"

The second aunt’s face tightened, her eyes flashing with a mix of irritation and fear. "Ray, if you would just listen—"

"No," Ray snapped, his tone final. "I don’t want to hear it. You’ve let this situation spiral out of control, and now you need to fix it."

The second aunt’s composure was wavering now, her usual charm and pretension giving way to a more defensive stance. She opened her mouth to protest again but was cut off by Ray’s commanding voice.

"Leave," he said, his voice a cold command that left no room for argument. "And don’t come back until you’ve sorted this mess out. You’re suspended until further notice."

Without another word, the second aunt turned on her heel and hurried out of the room, her steps echoing with a mixture of hurried urgency and restrained frustration. The door closed behind her, leaving Ray alone on the sofa, his anger still simmering beneath the surface.

Ray’s gaze remained fixed on the spot where the second aunt had stood, his breath coming in measured, controlled bursts. Despite his seated position, his authority and displeasure were unmistakable, a stark reminder of the consequences of failure. He was determined to see this through, to address every failing and to ensure that nothing like this ever happened again.

As the room fell into a heavy silence, Ray’s thoughts turned cold and calculating. The anger had not diminished, but it was now focused on a singular purpose: fixing the mess, holding everyone accountable, and restoring the order that had been so recklessly disrupted.

Ray’s anger showed no signs of abating as he turned his gaze toward the employees who remained, their faces a mix of fear and apprehension. His eyes locked onto Director Joe, a young woman in her early forties, who stepped forward, her posture respectful but tinged with nervousness.

"Yes, CEO. Yes, Chairman?" she responded, her voice steady despite the tension.

Ray’s tone was clipped, barely masking his frustration. "I want every bit of information on the employees hired after my resignation. No matter who hired them or how they were hired. I need all their details on my desk immediately."

The command was delivered with a stunned intensity that left no room for doubt. Director Joe’s eyes widened slightly, but she nodded in quick acknowledgment. "Understood. I’ll get that information for you right away."

With a swift nod, Director Joe turned and exited the room, followed by the remaining employees who filed out in hurried, cautious steps. The door closed behind them, leaving Ray alone in the now-quiet room.

Ray remained seated for a moment, his breathing controlled but his emotions still simmering. His gaze wandered around the room, taking in the remnants of the earlier chaos. The silence that followed was almost oppressive, filled with the weight of his unresolved anger.

He stood up abruptly, his movements sharp and deliberate. He approached the door, closed it firmly, and then walked over to the window. Without hesitation, he picked up a vase of violet flowers from the nearby table. The vase, elegant and delicate, was held with a force that belied its fragile appearance. Ray’s expression was a mixture of fury and determination as he hurled the vase out of the window.
