Chapter 35: [Volume 1] Chapter 35- You idiots ruined.

Kai’s face contorted in confusion, his mouth opening as if to argue, but nothing came out. He exchanged a bewildered glance with Jay, who had remained silent but was now shifting uncomfortably. Jay raised a brow, clearly wondering what exactly Esme was accusing them of.

Esme, seeing the bafflement on their faces, crossed her arms, standing tall and triumphant, her voice sharp as she added, "Oh, you’re pretending not to know, aren’t you? Classic!" Her irritation was palpable, her movements and words biting as if she was enjoying making them squirm.

Esme, her arms still crossed, leaned in closer, her eyes narrowing with amusement. "Oh, then please tell me, Mr. Lawyer," she began, her tone teasingly formal as if she were addressing him in court, "whose brilliant idea was it for all of us to sleep together?" Her voice held a biting edge, and her lips curled into a mocking smile.

Ray, taken aback by her directness, frowned, his irritation mounting. He shifted slightly, his earlier frustration turning into something more defensive. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," he muttered, looking around the room as if searching for backup from his brothers.

Esme, however, wasn’t about to let him off the hook. "Oh, don’t act clueless," she said with a pointed finger. "You were the one who suggested it—" she mimicked his voice in a mocking sing-song, "It’ll be nice, it’ll help avoid the elders’ questions!"

Ray’s eyes widened slightly, and his mouth opened as if to protest. "I—no! It was a practical solution!" he blurted out, his voice now tinged with frustration.

He glanced over at Kai and Jay, silently pleading for their support. But as he caught Esme’s triumphant smirk, he swallowed hard and quickly realized she wasn’t going to let this slide.

Kai and Jay exchanged quick looks, feeling the tension in the air shift. Esme was relentless when she wanted to prove a point, and Ray was cornered.

Esme clapped her hands together again, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh yes, what a genius idea! ’Let’s all sleep together and avoid awkward questions!’" She paused, raising her brow before narrowing her eyes back at Ray.

Esme’s voice grew sharper as she paced back and forth, her arms gesturing wildly, a mixture of frustration and disbelief on her face.

"And now, thanks to you guys," she began, turning abruptly towards the brothers with fire in her eyes, "my persona that was known as the golden beauty, a real woman of elegance, has been shattered."

She paused, her words dripping with sarcasm and mockery. "And what am I now, huh? Playgirl !

A woman who sleeps with three mers." Her tone was laced with venom as she continued, "A lusty woman—and whatever else people are saying. Do you guys even have an idea what this feels like?"

Ray, who had been trying to keep his cool, found himself glancing nervously around the room, avoiding Esme’s piercing gaze.

He knew she wasn’t wrong, but her intensity made him fidget in his seat. "I’m not looking at her," he muttered under his breath, pretending to focus on anything but her fury.

Esme, catching his avoidance, whipped around to face him. "Oh, don’t even try that with me!" She pointed at Ray, her eyes gleaming with a mix of exasperation and amusement. "And dear eldest brother," she sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "you’re no better. From the youngest to the oldest, you’ve all managed to make my life a spectacle!"

Ray, feeling the heat of her words, finally turned towards her, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. "What did I do?" he asked, irritation creeping into his tone. "It’s not like it was my idea to turn everything upside down. I don’t know—"

"Of course, it wasn’t your idea!" Esme interrupted, her voice rising with frustration. "But you went along with it! You’re all in on this mess!" She paused for a moment, collecting herself, before fixing her gaze squarely on Ray again.

Her voice softened just a bit, but her words carried a cutting edge. "And tell me—how in the world can a person manage to ruin something as simple as a packet of pre-made soup?" Her arms flailed in disbelief. "You literally just had to boil water and pour in the mix. That’s it! No fancy ingredients, no complicated steps. Just water and the soup mix!"

Ray winced as her words hit him. He knew exactly where this was going.

"But you," she said, shaking her head in disbelief, "Oh, the genius that you are—" she couldn’t even finish the sentence without letting out a dry laugh. "You somehow managed to make it taste like actual poison. How does that even happen?"

Kai and Jay, who had been watching the scene with amusement, tried to stifle their laughter, knowing full well that Esme wasn’t exaggerating.

Esme’s eyes flicked towards Jay, who had been silently observing the scene with a barely concealed grin. The moment their gazes met, Jay’s smile faltered, and he raised his hands in innocent surrender, eyebrows raised as if to say, What did I do?

Esme’s lips curled into a smile, but it was far from friendly. "Oh, you? You did nothing, right?" she said, her voice deceptively sweet. But as she pointed dramatically toward her shoulder, her smile vanished.

"Look at this!" Her tone sharpened, and the mock smile faded into an accusatory glare. Thanks to you—my shoulder nearly got dislocated!" She rubbed her shoulder with an exaggerated motion, as if recalling the pain all over again.

Jay blinked, confused, still pretending not to understand. "What? I—"

"Tell me," Esme cut him off, raising an incredulous brow, her frustration bubbling over. "What kind of animal jumps on a person from behind—on someone who hasn’t even fully stood up yet?" She threw her hands up in the air, exasperated. "Who does that?!"

Jay shifted on his feet, scratching the back of his neck, suddenly looking far less confident than a moment ago. "I was just playing—"

"Playing?!" Esme snapped, her voice rising. "Do you play by dislocating people’s shoulders now? What are you, a wrestling champion?" She glared at him, her tone biting as her frustration continued to simmer.

Jay, realizing he was in hot water, glanced at Ray and Kai for backup, but both brothers were wisely keeping their mouths shut, knowing better than to get in between Esme and her fury.
