Chapter 331: [ Volume 1] Chaper 331- Secret revealed.
The room fell into a suffocating silence. A faint mechanical whir hummed from the speakers as the laptop screen flickered. A duck waddled across a shadowy backdrop, its movements oddly stiff, almost lifeless. Then came the voice—low, smooth, and chilling in its calmness.
"Wow, old man," it drawled, the words stretching as if tasting the tension in the air. "Quite something, huh?"
The old man stiffened, his knotted hands gripping the edge of the table. His breath hitched, though he tried to mask it. The voice continued, a mocking edge weaving through its measured tone.
"Haven’t you been busy?" it mused. "What do they call you again? Oh, yes—the kind man. So generous, so charitable. Aren’t you?"
The ladies in the room exchanged confused glances, their unease growing with every word. To them, this man was a beacon of virtue, a pillar of the community. But the color had drained from his face, and his eyes darted to the screen as though it were a serpent poised to strike.
"Tell me," the voice pressed, sharper now, "what did the world really see when it looked at your true face?"
The old man’s shoulders tensed. He rose abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor with a harsh screech. Without a word, he snatched the laptop and slammed it to the ground, the shattering of plastic and glass echoing through the room.
"Grandfather!" one of the women gasped, her voice trembling. "What are you doing?"
But he didn’t answer. His breathing was ragged, his eyes wild. The broken laptop lay in pieces at his feet. For a moment, the room was deathly quiet—until the television flickered to life.
The same haunting imagery appeared on the screen: darkness, the mechanical duck, and then... the voice returned, tinged with amusement.
"Oh, my," it purred. "Breaking the laptop? How dramatic. Did you think that would stop me?"
The relatives froze, their fear deepening. The old man, usually composed and confident, looked unhinged. Why would he act this way unless he had something to hide?
"Why so angry?" the voice teased. "We’ve barely begun. Come now, sit down. Let me show you the little gift I’ve prepared."
The scene unfolded in the shadowy darkness, the glow of car headlights illuminating the faces of those caught in the web of fate. Gina Aron stood resolutely in the center, her heart pounding, caught between the sinister presence of her sister—Second Aunt—and the looming car behind her, where her husband sat, watching with wide, helpless eyes.
The air was thick with tension, a sense of impending doom creeping closer with every breath. Gina could feel the weight of the moment pressing against her chest. She raised her phone, the flickering screen lighting up her face, casting fleeting shadows that danced across her features. The video continued to play, a cruel reminder of the innocence her children held—blissfully unaware of the danger that lurked just beyond the reach of their laughter.
Gina’s voice cracked with fear as she shouted, "Stop! You can’t do this! You can’t hurt them!" Her hands trembled, desperately trying to keep control, to hold onto some semblance of hope. "They’re just kids!"
Second Aunt’s twisted smile only grew wider, her eyes gleaming with dark amusement. "Exactly," she purred, her voice dripping with malice. "And that makes this all the more enjoyable."
Gina’s world spun into chaos, her desperation igniting her every movement. She lunged forward, hoping to wrench the phone from Second Aunt’s hands, but the older woman was too quick. With a cruel laugh, she sidestepped effortlessly, the gun she wielded now trained on Gina. The air thickened with the weight of the threat. "I wouldn’t do that if I were you," Second Aunt warned, her tone cold and malicious. "I’m not just crazy; I’m unpredictable."
Gina’s throat tightened, and she choked out a pleading cry, "Just tell me what you want! You have to want something more than revenge. I can help you!"
"Help?" Second Aunt scoffed, her laughter ringing out like a death knell. "Oh, sweet sister, you’ve already helped me more than you know. But now, it’s your turn to suffer the consequences of your choices."
Each word hit Gina like a punch, the finality of Second Aunt’s intentions sinking deep into her bones. She knew how far her sister was willing to go, and the thought of losing everything she loved began to choke her with an overwhelming sense of hopelessness.
The night stretched on, silent but for the sounds of Gina’s heart thundering in her chest. She needed to think, to act—fast.
With everything on the line, Gina’s voice rose once more, shaky but determined. "Wait! I can bring you back into our lives. Just... just give me a chance!"
Second Aunt’s expression faltered, just for a moment, a flicker of curiosity glimmering in her eyes. "A chance?" she repeated, the word slipping from her lips like a venomous snake. "What makes you think I’d ever trust you again?"
Gina’s desperation burned through the fear. "Because I’m willing to make amends. I’ll make you a part of their lives. You can be family, not an enemy. We can fix this!"
For a heartbeat, time stood still, the world around them suspended in a terrifying silence as Second Aunt weighed the offer. But then, her smile returned, cold and cutting. "Family?" she whispered, as if the word were foreign to her. "What a quaint idea. But I’m afraid it might be too late for that."
Gina’s heart sank, but she wasn’t ready to give up. "No, it’s not too late! We can rebuild what was lost. Just don’t hurt them!"
Second Aunt’s eyes gleamed with cruel delight as she stared at her sister, savoring her misery. "Well, anyway, you are my sister, right?" she said mockingly, her voice dripping with feigned affection. "We share blood, after all. So, let me do you a favor."
The woman beside Second Aunt, holding a gun in her hand, emerged from the shadows, her finger poised on the trigger as she aimed it at Gina’s husband, seated helplessly in the car behind her.
