Ray, dressed in a simple black shirt and pants, sat in a wheelchair, his presence commanding despite the evident need for support.

A servant stood behind him, ready to assist, though the sight of their master was anything but pitiful. As soon as Ray caught sight of Esme, his face lit up with a bright smile, one that softened his usually stern features.

As soon as Esme stepped inside, she was met with a staircase leading downward. Just as she straightened up, she felt a sudden weight crash into her back, arms wrapping tightly around her neck. A familiar voice followed immediately.

"Baby!"

Esme smiled softly, recognizing the voice. "You’re getting sneaky," she said with a playful tone as she reached behind her to grab the hands clinging to her neck. With practiced ease, she shifted the person’s weight, swinging them smoothly around until they were in front of her, and with a quick, fluid motion, she lifted them into her arms.
