Chapter 216: [ Volume 1] Chaper 216- My children.
With a swift motion, she raised her phone, its screen illuminating the darkness around them. The video continued to play, showcasing the children in their innocent moment, oblivious to the danger lurking nearby. For the woman, it felt like a countdown—a relentless ticking toward an inevitable disaster.
"Stop!" she shouted, her voice rising with fear. "You can’t do this! You can’t hurt them!" Her hands shook, and she fought to maintain her composure. "They’re just kids!"
"Exactly," Second Auntie replied, a twisted smile creeping across her face. "And that’s what makes this so enjoyable." The madness in her eyes was unsettling, and the woman felt a chill run down her spine.
In a burst of desperation, she lunged forward, hoping to snatch the phone from Second Auntie’s hands. "No! I won’t let you!"
But Second Auntie was quick. She sidestepped effortlessly, laughter ringing out in the night as she aimed her gun at the woman. "I wouldn’t do that if I were you. I’m not just crazy; I’m unpredictable." The threat lingered in the air, thick and suffocating.
"Just tell me what you want!" the woman pleaded, her voice cracking with desperation. "You have to want something more than revenge. I can help you!"
"Help?" Second Auntie scoffed, her disdain evident. "Oh, sweet sister, you’ve already helped me more than you know. But now, it’s your turn to suffer the consequences of your choices."
The weight of those words pressed down heavily, and the woman realized just how far Second Auntie was willing to go. The night stretched out before her, a battleground of loyalty and betrayal, and she knew she had to act fast.
With her heart pounding, she searched for a way out, a flicker of hope to save her children from the darkness threatening to engulf them.
"Wait!" she shouted, her desperation rising. "I can bring you back into our lives! Just... just give me a chance!"
Second Auntie paused, her expression shifting for just a moment, a glimmer of curiosity flashing in her eyes. "A chance?" she echoed, the word rolling off her tongue like honey mixed with poison. "What makes you think I’d ever trust you again?"
"Because I’m willing to make amends," the woman said, forcing the words through a throat tight with fear. "I’ll make you a part of their lives. You can be family, not an enemy. We can fix this!"
For a heartbeat, silence enveloped them, the air heavy with tension as Second Auntie considered the offer.
"Family?" she repeated softly, as if the word were a foreign concept. "What a quaint idea. But I’m afraid it might be too late for that."
The woman’s heart sank, sensing the rejection, but she pressed on, driven by love and desperation. "No, it’s not! We can rebuild what was lost. Just don’t hurt them!"
Second Aunt’s eyes glinted with malicious delight as she stared at her sister, the air thick with unspoken tension. "Well, anyway, you are my sister, right?" she said, her voice dripping with mock affection. "We share blood, after all. So, let me do you a favor." She gestured toward the man seated in the car, then back to the woman standing before her, vulnerable yet fierce. "I hear your beast is incredibly powerful. They say not even a bullet can pierce its skin. So, let’s put that to the test, shall we?"
The woman’s heart raced. She stood frozen, caught between horror and determination. "You have three choices," Second Aunt continued, her smile widening like a predator’s. "You, your husband, or your children. Let’s see who you would choose to protect."
Beside Second Aunt, another woman emerged, gun in hand, her finger hovering dangerously close to the trigger as she aimed at the man in the car. The sight sent a jolt of panic through the woman. She turned her head slightly to see her husband watching with wide eyes, a mixture of fear and disbelief etched on his face. In the back of her mind, she could picture their four children, blissfully unaware, laughing and playing in the glow of the television, their nanny lurking nearby with a sinister glint in her eye.
The woman’s hands trembled as she grappled with the impossible choice laid before her. She could face death, but the thought of her children being harmed sent icy tendrils of fear creeping down her spine. Time seemed to stretch, each second filled with a suffocating dread. If she summoned her beast to protect her children, it might not return in time. They were too far apart, and she had seen too many lives snuffed out by tragedy.
Yet, as she weighed her options, a desperate plan began to form. Her husband was the one she could protect—she knew Second Aunt’s twisted affection for him could work in their favor. The woman’s heart raced with the determination to shield him at all costs.
"On the count of three," Second Aunt taunted, relishing the moment as her finger tightened around the trigger. The tension in the air was palpable, crackling like static electricity.
"One... two..."
Everything around her seemed to fade, the world blurring at the edges. In that fleeting moment, she closed her eyes, visualizing the life they had built together. The laughter, the quiet moments, the love that had blossomed against all odds. This was not how it was supposed to end.
"Three!"
With that word, chaos erupted. Gunshots rang out, shattering the silence like glass. The woman’s heart stopped as she screamed, "shiva!" Her voice was swallowed by the roar of violence that ensued.
As soon as she shouted, the dark blue eagle took to the sky, its wings spreading wide like a canvas painted in deep twilight. The sunlight caught its feathers, making them glimmer as it soared higher, a living symbol of freedom against the endless blue above.
With a powerful rush, it shot upward, the sound of its wings slicing through the air filling her with awe. She watched, captivated, as the eagle circled overhead, its shadow gliding over the ground like a fleeting reminder of its strength.
