The Handsome CEO Is My Husband -
Chapter 75
Chapter 75: Chapter 75
"Why is she still here?" Liam asked, puzzled by Nora’s presence in his office. "Get her out. She doesn’t work here anymore. Go tell who you want that I fired you but I would be careful because I can talk too."
"You’re threatening me?" Nora asked, taking a step back. "I should have known that a man like you would get like this."
"You don’t know me. That’s where you made your mistake. The door," Liam pointed to the exit for Nora since she seemed to have trouble finding it. "Don’t make me have to embarrass you by calling security. At least leave with your head up."
"I should go right to the cops and tell them that you were threatening to kill me," Nora said. She wished she had taken a page from Beth’s book and recorded this conversation.
"Kill you?" Liam laughed. "Who said anything about that?"
Nora frowned, not liking that he was laughing at her, and she didn’t understand why he was laughing at her. "You just said to be careful," she said.
"Because I can talk. Do you think I would kill you with my words?" Liam asked, almost curious about what went on in her head. "You’re a smart woman but can be stupid at times like this. You will need to find work and many will wonder why you no longer work here. Should my office receive a call, I will have an honest answer given. Think carefully about running your mouth."
Liam picked up what he needed so he could head to Veronica. "Running your mouth got you without a job."
Nora balled her hand into a fist. She blamed Jerome and Beth for this.
If Beth hadn’t come to her with this ridiculous plan then Liam wouldn’t be speaking up about an affair but it was Jerome who got in Liam’s ear and all for what?
Nora turned around to look at Jerome. Of course, he was still present in the office despite Liam leaving. "Are you happy?"
"Not until you step out of his office. I will call security on you for all your gossiping peers to see. Get out of his office," Jerome said, holding the door open.
Nora slowly walked forward. "What was it? You didn’t like what I said about you and Veronica? Was that it? Did that strike a nerve so you went running to Liam? I wonder if you told him that part or left it out. It might be the two of us losing our jobs today if he finds out there was something between his wife and right-hand man."
Jerome couldn’t help but laugh. "For someone once in our legal team you talk too carelessly. I wonder, were you taking credit for someone else’s work? Was that how you lasted this long? Nothing about you screams smart to me. I think the legal team would be relieved to see a leecher go."
"I have sense-"
"Yet you got fired on a wonderful day when the sun is warm and the office is in a good mood. Doesn’t seem like you have much sense to me. It should have been obvious to stay away from Beth but then again, you probably thought you could finally get your hands on Liam. See, that makes you stupid," Jerome explained.
It was hard not to laugh when Nora claimed she didn’t have any interest in a married man. She was practically drooling when he said Liam wanted to see her.
"I’ll give you one piece of advice. Stay away from married men, especially the ones with money. The good ones will make your life hell if you try to ruin their marriage and the bad ones, well. Those will make you leave the city even if you had an affair with them. They never leave their wives for their employees," said Jerome.
"You seem to know well about these men," Nora said, her anger for Jerome growing the more he spoke.
"It’s common sense which you lack, now leave. I have to ask you to leave but if I was off work I would tell you to stay. I want to see you get escorted out of here. So please, throw a tantrum while I send a message to the security," Jerome said, holding up his phone to show that he was doing it.
Nora gritted her teeth. She wanted to snatch the phone from his hands but there was an audience outside. "I am going to get back at you for this. Don’t think we won’t see each other again. You shouldn’t dispose of someone who knows the ins and outs of this company. I’m valuable to someone outside of this company."
"See, you talk too much. I would be careful on my way back to that apartment. I heard there was a little accident with fire over there. Oh, don’t worry since I am not threatening you. Just know that I see everything about everyone troubling my employer. It’s my job," Jerome spoke softly so those listening outside wouldn’t hear.
Nora didn’t know Jerome could be like this. He was always soft-spoken and looked timid. "You’ve been stalking me. You creep!"
Jerome was offended since there wasn’t anything about Nora to have him creep around. "Security is on the way here. Should I get a box for your things or a trash bag? I think the trash bag would look good on you."
"I can’t believe this," Nora muttered. Not only was she fired but she had to bear with Jerome enjoying seeing that she had to pack her things and go. "I hope you can sleep well at night knowing you made someone lose their job. Your future wife must be-"
"Don’t speak about her. You’ve already made a stupid assumption about me and Veronica. Haven’t you learned enough today to stop speaking?" Jerome asked, seriously questioning how she lasted here so long.
Was it another case of Nora knowing someone who put in a good word for her so she got the job?
Nora panicked when two security guards came by the door. "I don’t need an escort out. You’ve already embarrassed me enough," she said as she walked out of Liam’s office.
Beth made a big mistake if she thought Nora going to suffer the consequences alone. Beth was the one going around trying to find out who might be having an affair with Liam to make Veronica suffer. That should make interesting news to post for someone who values her social media presence.
"Why didn’t I avoid that little brat?" Nora muttered, annoyed with herself. Now she was stuck with someone tailing her and too afraid to speak about Liam to anyone despite what she told Jerome.
