Chapter 146: Morning After
Chapter 146: Morning After
Waking up with his head on a warm, firm pillow, Lane had a vague sense of deja vu. He had woken up like that once again, hadn’t he? Of course, this time it was a bit different, because he and Damien had already fallen asleep cuddling. But, aside from that, it was quite similar. Just like the last time, Damien was already awake, although he wasn’t tugging on Lane’s arm, trying to peel him off himself, but rather Lane could tell because of his uneven breathing. Then maybe, just like last time...
With one shift move, Lane tossed the blankets aside, before Damien could react.
And sure enough, there it was, a tent!
"Hehe," Lane chuckled, a wide grin spreading across his face. "So energetic so early in the morning?"
He reached his hand to slip it inside Damien’s pajama pants...
But this time, Damien was faster, grabbing him by the wrist. "Xavier! We’re in bed!"
"Um, yes?" Lane lifted his brows in confusion. "I am aware?"
Wasn’t that the most suitable place? The most standard choice for sexual activities?
"We’re going to dirty the sheets again!"
...Ah. Right.
Since sperm-stained sheets weren’t something that bothered Lane - as long as they were changed, of course, because he didn’t fancy sleeping on them - it completely slipped his mind. Still,
"It’s no big deal. It’s morning now, so the housekeepers will be able to change it, without us having to move to another room."
Damien was momentarily rendered speechless by Lane’s words. Putting aside the fact that he’d be giving the housekeepers, who were likely already busy enough, extra work... It was also embarrassing! Mortifyingly so!
"Okay, FINE..." Lane sighed, getting the clue. "How about we jump in the shower together... And I’ll take care of your, ahem, ’little’ problem there?"
Damien hesitated for a while, staring at Lane in silence.
Just as Lane was about to dismiss the topic, turning it into a joke, because he thought he was going to be refused, Damien muttered a quiet "Okay."
Okay? Did he hear it right?
Lane instantly perked up. He instantly jumped out of bed - it might have been the first time he got up so fast! - and grabbed Damien to the bathroom. "Let’s go then!"
A brief unease flashed through Damien’s eyes.
...Was it really a good decision?
Still, he let Lane lead him to the shower and tear of his clothes. And shortly later, hot water started pouring over them, the sound of the stream hitting the tiles hardly loud enough to cover up the moans.

"Uh... Team Leader?" Arlo blinked a few times, staring at Damien and Lane in the elevator. "Are you... Are you already coming back from breakfast?"
"...No, we’re just going now."
"Ah, yes?" Arlo blinked again, dumbfounded.
If Team Leader was going now, then why was he already in the elevator? Coming from an upper floor? They both had rooms on the twentieth floor...
Due to the inactivity, the elevator door started closing again. Only then did Arlo snap out of it, quickly extending his hand to stop it from fully closing. Then he, Lucy, and two other members of the delegation they were rooming with (in twin rooms, of course. Only Damien and Lane shared a double) stepped in.
Still, he couldn’t get the mystery out of his mind. If it was Team Leader alone, then he would have assumed that he was meeting with someone... But then why would Xavier go with him?
...And why was Xavier smiling so much? He was shining with happiness so brightly, that it was almost blinding!
Ugh... On the second thought, did he really want to know? He already knew that the two were dating, so...
"Are you wondering why we’re coming from a higher floor?" Lane asked, guessing Arlo’s thoughts - or at least a part of them.
And earning himself attention from everyone around, with very... mixed emotions.
"Ugh, well..." Arlo muttered. He was curious - about the floor thing, not about Lane radiating odd happiness - but was it really a good idea to ask? Was it even APPROPRIATE to ask, right in front of their Team Leader?
Although he didn’t get a confirmation, Lane still rushed to explain. "We had a little... problem, last night, you see. So we had to change the rooms, and we’re on the 22nd floor now."
Clang!
The metal railing in the elevator broke, as Damien gripped it too hard.
"Ah, oh, is that so, okay?" Arlo’s eyes wandered between the broken railing, Damien’s red face, and Lane’s wide grin.
Did he REALLY want to know?
Then Lane added, "Our AC was broken, and no one could fix it so late, so when I called the reception, they gave us a new room."
Ah. So it was the AC!
Everyone (but Lane) is the elevator exhaled with relief. Even if anyone was interested in some spicy gossip, it wasn’t in front of Team Leader Damien Lennox! Although the man was still young - which most of people tended to forget, because of his perpetual seriousness - he was more powerful than all of them combined (except Lane, but no one present knew that, not even Damien), and above everything, his frown was quite intimidating! Especially now that his whole face was red from... rage, perhaps? Yeah, it must have been rage, otherwise what?
After what felt like forever, the elevator stopped on the 1st floor, where the breakfast buffet was, and the door opened again. The people rushed out, trying to escape the suffocating atmosphere.
"Uh, T-team Leader, I’ll go first, and find us a table!" Arlo called, and also ran off after the rest.
Once they were left alone, Damien let out a heavy sigh, covering his face. "Xavier..."
"Hmm?" Lane smiled, blinking innocently. "I did a good job with the cover-up, didn’t I?"
Technically he did. He didn’t say anything inappropriate, and even blamed the AC instead of saying they got the bed wet... If only it wasn’t for his suspicious grin...
Still, he couldn’t exactly scold Lane for smiling, so he only let out yet another sigh, as Lane grabbed his sleeve and started pulling him toward the buffet.
"Come on, let’s eat! I’m starving!"
