Chapter 279: Chapter 279- Death Eventually Comes To All Things Under The Heavens

The flying boat Sol and Mar-Yue were on quickly made its way across the Eternal Desert to reach the Desert Forest.

Sol had long realized that Mar-Yue’s definition of running away was leaving the Tribe for a bit.

Sol scratched his cheek. He was really preparing for them to head back to Jianghu. With his status as a disciple of the Martial Alliance Academy, he should be able to purchase a residence in the Martial Alliance City.

As for the money to purchase such an expensive property, he still had his share of the money he had extor... Ehem... fairly gotten from the Clans and Sects in Pearl City. If that wasn’t enough, he had Byeong-Ho, with his position as the son of the Headmaster of the Weapon Pavilion and grandson of the Third Elder, he should be loaded.

But all of Sol’s thorough plans for Mar-Yue moving to Jianghu with him were quickly dismissed. Once again, he realized he was overthinking things.

After passing the public baths, they flew towards the venue where the Coming-of-Age Ceremony had taken place earlier today.

With a thud, the boat landed on the stone-tiled ground.

When Sol disembarked, he reached out his hand for Mar-Yue to take, which she did.

After leaving the boat, Mar-Yue waved her hand, and it vanished back into her storage bag.

It wasn’t that the Barbarian Race couldn’t produce storage rings, which were more spacious than storage bags. It’s just that in this environment it was more beneficial to use storage bags made using the same method as the protective clothes, than storage rings.

After putting away the boat, the young couple walked hand-in-hand towards the large stone monument.

Sol glanced up and looked at the crescent moon that was showering silver radiance on the land. Being in this open area, he had a clear view of the twinkling stars shining along with the moon.

It was like a mother with her young kids, encouraging them to shine their brightest and as long as possible so others could see what she saw. A brilliance of great magnitude that would last for as long as the heavens themselves.

"There are many stories about our ancestors and origins."

Sol snapped out of his entrance state to turn to look at Mar-Yue who was staring up at the sky.

Her blue pupils had the moon and starry night sky reflecting in them. However, there was a slight misconception one might come to while looking at them in this instance, that the sky was the one reflecting the moon and stars within her eyes.

"What kind of stories?"

Sol prodded out of curiosity.

"There’s one that my mother always told me when I was little, and even though I was very little, I still remember it vividly to this day. The entire story boils down to our Giant Race being a Race from the stars. Like a shooting star, we wandered aimlessly until we landed in this Mortal World, but once we landed the firmament closed behind us, trapping us here. Thus, we became a Fallen Race."

Sol remained silent as he listened to this story. After Mar-Yue finished, he glanced up at Abdu and asked.

"Little Abdu, is that true?"

Despite Sol’s question to Abdu, his mind was constantly thinking back on that large man who came to attack his mother.

Abdu shook his head and spoke.

"I’m sorry to say my knowledge beyond Immortal Dai Shen’s Dimension is nonexistent. I have heard some stories about the other Immortal territories on the Violet Continent as I was ruling Su-Moon’s Mortal Lands for some time, but it’s hard to determine what is true from Mortals embellished stories."

Mar-Yue hearing this turned to Abdu and asked stunned.

"Little Abdu, how old are you? Were you really around when those Immortals existed?"

Abdu was lazily resting his head on his crossed front legs as he answered.

"I lost count of my age after ten thousand years, and I wasn’t just ’around’ when those Immortal beings existed, I was considered to be one of them."

Mar-Yue’s eyes went wide upon hearing that, but her face immediately scrunched up.

"How can that be? Father said even an Immortal isn’t undying, that death eventually comes to all things under the Heavens."

Sol was always curious about this himself, but he got the feeling that it was a topic Abdu would rather forget so he didn’t ask. All those years in solitude would be a terrible memory for anyone.

Sol wasn’t expecting Abdu to answer but he did glance up hoping he would.

And as expected, Abdu didn’t answer the question directly but rather said some ominous words.

"Death eventually comes to all things under the Heavens? Haha, that’s indeed correct, but does the same apply to death itself?"

"Little Abdu, are you saying that you’re already dead?"

Sol faltered at Mar-Yue’s blunt question. But Abdu merely laughed and asked.

"Little girl, do I look dead to you?"

"Who knows? You might just be a wandering ghost."

When Mar-Yue said that Abdu’s eyes twinkled with amusement but he said nothing.

When Sol heard it, his face stiffened, and questions began to rise in his mind. But he knew that Abdu wouldn’t answer them, so he forcefully suppressed his curiosity for now.

After walking for a bit, the three made their way to the stone monument and stopped.

"What’s the origin of this stone monument?"

Sol asked, and Mar-Yue tilted her head as if trying to recall the information in her mind. She then said after a moment.

"Father said it’s something Ancestor Mar-Tu created before he disappeared. It’s able to identify our Giant Race bloodline, so he says it contains the hope of our Barbarian Race. It’s also-"

Mar-Yue couldn’t continue her explanation as Sol suddenly clutched his forehead and staggered a bit.

Seeing this Mar-Yue was taken aback.

"Wha-What happened? Are you okay?"

Sol quickly regained his composure and rubbed his forehead as he said.

"It’s nothing, just a headache."

A serious look appeared in Abdu’s eyes, and he asked.

"Is it that thing?"

Sol nodded.

"It’s been agitated ever since I’ve come to the Eternal Desert, but more so when I’m here."

"That’s to be expected."

"Little Abdu, you know what’s the cause?"

Abdu glanced at the sky and spoke.

"I do, it’s the Divine Flames in the Dimension above us. It’s also the cause of the heat and lack of balance between the six elements in the Desert."

"Above us?"

Sol said as he looked up at the starry night sky.

"The Divine Flames are also concentrated here, so that could be the reason why it’s reacting more when you’re here than anywhere else."

Mar-Yue listened to the two speak, and though she didn’t understand most of what they were talking about, she chose not to ask for clarification.

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out.

"Senior, my son told me that you suspect it was the doing of a God, is that true?"
