The Growth of a Titan in the Cultivation World -
Chapter 122 - 119- Completely Blank
Chapter 122: Chapter 119- Completely Blank
Sol lowered his head and continued reading the book.
The entries were sporadic. It seems she only wrote in this journal when she felt overwhelmed with emotions she couldn’t voice to anyone.
Sol also found the answer to a question that had puzzled him ever since he came here.
Why was the palace so empty?
Only one servant was here with the family?
From one of her entries, Sol discovered that this was Su Moon’s decision. It was to protect their family from assassination attempts.
Sol could tell the event of losing their child not only affected this woman but Su Moon as well; he became extremely overprotective.
After skipping through the journal and reaching the last entry, Sol became puzzled.
The last entry spoke about a new servant that had entered their palace, that the woman found strange.
"As soon as he came, he said-"
That was it, that was the last line on the page. But as Sol skipped the page to see what came next, he saw that it was blank. He frowned and ran his fingers across the seam of the book.
At least two pages were torn out. Someone didn’t want him to read what came next. But this was it. It felt like these pages were the proof he needed to prove his theory.
But they were missing!
Sol turned and left the room to head back to the main crime scene, the office. He approached the main desk and glanced at the papers scattered on top of it once again.
There were dates on the entries in the journal, so he wanted to figure out when this missing entry was written relative to the day the murders were committed.
Sol didn’t have to look for long and he soon found an unfinished document Su Moon was probably writing before he died.
The date was at the top, and it revealed to him that the entry in the journal was actually written just yesterday.
This servant lying here was likely the same one in the woman’s entry.
Sol’s brows furrowed as he thought about this new information. However, his eyes soon focused back on the paper with the date. It detailed the servant’s employment to this palace, but Sol shifted his focus from the date at the top, to the part that was previously covered by the paper he had picked up before.
The first paragraph was the servant’s description, and the next section detailed his background, which was once covered.
What immediately stood out to him was where the servant came from prior to coming to the palace.
"Peace Lake Village..."
Sol muttered the familiar village name under his breath.
When the Deity rescued his son, he found him alone with the Nian Beast nowhere to be seen. Without questioning it he then brought him home.
However, who he brought home, or rather ’what’ he brought home... wasn’t his son.
Sol glanced at the servant who was on the ground covered in blood.
"He’s Su Jin."
He then glanced at the person who he thought was Su Jin.
"...And that’s the Nian Beast."
Sol’s theory was right; the murderer wasn’t the servant because he was Su Jin that had survived and came to confront the Nian Beast.
The true murderer was the Nian Beast who had disguised himself as Su Jin when he was younger.
However, a few things didn’t add up.
First of all, why did Su Jin have a different appearance?
Secondly, how was he still alive? Why didn’t the Nian Beast kill him so his identity could never be revealed?
The first could be explained by the fact that the Nian Beast’s ability to change into someone required getting a human’s face first, before swapping that appearance with Su Jin’s own.
The second could be explained simply by the fact that Su Jin was the son of a Deity, perhaps he had something from his father that protected him.
However, Sol could logically come up with theories to fix those holes, but the third thing that didn’t add up completely stumped him.
Why did Su Jin have the dagger that killed Su Moon, his father?
Wouldn’t it be logical that the Nian Beast, had it?
Sol walked over to the Nian Beast and Su Jin.
There Sol found the answer.
From the position of the Nian Beast’s right hand as he was face down, it seems like he was holding something before he fell. And doing a few calculations of how he fell and where that object would roll to, Sol saw that Su Jin’s hand was in that direction.
Sol’s face showed a weird expression.
Could coincidences be this absurd?
After Victim Three, the servant now known to be Su Jin, was killed, the killer went from room to room and killed two more victims before returning to this office and succumbing to his own injuries. He then dropped beside Victim Three, and at the same time the murder weapon fell before rolling into Victim Three’s hand.
It was unbelievable, but from how the golden dagger was positioned in Victim Three, Su Jin’s hand, Sol could slightly believe it.
And one thing that added evidence to this theory was the suppressive force from Su Jin.
If he was a servant, he wouldn’t have such strong cultivation. It made sense Su Jin would be able to cultivate to this level that match his father and the Nian Beast after so many years.
Sol sighed.
"The only way to find out is to search this Nian Beast."
Sol looked at the Nian Beast disguised as Su Jin.
If his theory was really true, then the Nian Beast would be the one to rip out the pages of this journal. Those pages should be in his robes then.
However, the suppressive force from the Nian Beast didn’t allow Sol to check.
Sol glanced at the words in the center of the room to see the amount of time they have remained.
"Time remaining: 17: 09..."
After thinking for a moment and sensing how fast the suppressive aura around these three were fading away, Sol calculated that it would take a couple of hours until it diminished enough for him to search the Nian Beast.
Sol smiled at that.
It looks like he had solved this murder mystery and only took him seven hours.
"Ha-ha, the Deity who created this trial is underestimating me by giving me so much time. But I guess I still have to wait to confirm my theory."
Sol felt the nervousness of being stuck here, which he never addressed, fading from his heart. He followed all the clues, and he successfully passed this trial.
He hoped Yoon-Jae would come back soon so he could tell him the good news.
Thinking about it now, Sol wondered where he was.
Still smiling, Sol walked over to a book that was on the ground and picked it up. He wanted to read these books while he waited for the suppressive aura to fade away.
After blowing off the dirt on the cover of the book, Sol read the title aloud.
"The Alvian Realm’s History."
That was the name of the place they were supposedly transported to.
Sol flipped it open, wondering what kind of information this trial would place in a book like this.
Unlike the information he read in the woman’s room he believed to be real; this book in particular would probably contain a fake historical account of a place that didn’t exist.
However, as Sol flipped open the book, he saw that it was completely blank.
"Huh? Why is it blank?"
Sol was taken aback.
