Chapter 1121: Chapter 135: The Green Man, People Always Green_3
Nevertheless, as a part of executing the plan, Ao Xiang felt guilty in his heart and couldn’t say much. He could only leave the hall in disgrace.
Upon hearing the sounds of smashing and curses from inside the hall, Ao Xiang’s eyes flickered as he stood outside.
To untie the bell, the one who tied it must come.
How about letting that person comfort father?
~~
Night falls.
The hall was a mess, Finn slouched drunkenly on a chair, surrounded by dozens of empty wine jugs.
He was not usually one to indulge in alcohol, but at this moment, he needed it to numb the humiliation of failure and block out the harsh sounds from the outside world.
He shook the jug in his hand; the empty response greatly angered him:
"Where’s the wine? Bring it immediately, you bunch of idiots!"
The door was gently pushed open, and a graceful figure walked up the steps.
Finn opened his slightly hazy drunken eyes, frowning angrily:
"Maeve? What are you doing here? Do you want to laugh at me like those idiots outside too?"
"Why would I? I’m here to visit you."
Maeve giggled, bent her waist, and sat in Finn’s lap.
The voluptuous touch stirred Finn’s heart, igniting a flame within him.
A beautiful figure flashed in his mind, and Finn struggled to regain some composure, gently pushing Maeve away from his embrace:
"Your Majesty has promised to arrange a marriage for me, this isn’t right, is it?"
Maeve smiled and spoke, wrapping her arms around Finn’s neck:
"Don’t worry, I’m here just to comfort a hero’s weary mind and body, no one will mind."
"A hero? Are you referring to me? A loser?" Finn mocked himself.
"A momentary success or failure doesn’t decide anything. In my view, you’ve done well enough, Great Commander."
Hearing Maeve’s comfort, Finn felt much better and his gaze softened towards her.
Compared to the cold treatment from Princess Grainne, this Queen of Connacht certainly understands men better.
However, considering Maeve’s status and reputation, Finn couldn’t help but ask:
"By the way, where’s Fergus?"
"Busy with his nephew, comforting the wounded of the Red Branch Knights."
Maeve replied crossly, then took out two golden cups from the Magic Circle Diagram and looked at Finn with a joyful smile,
"How about it, my Great Commander, interested in having a drink with me?"
The amber honey wine swirled in the cup, piling up patches of white foam, akin to Maeve’s neckline scenery.
Inhaling the faint fragrance, Finn swallowed, his inner reason and desire battling.
As one of Ireland’s Divine Blood Heroes, he certainly knew Maeve’s reputation and the meaning behind this cup of honey wine.
Drinking this cup of honey wine meant accepting the invitation to become the Queen’s intimate guest.
If Supreme King Conmark hadn’t promised to arrange a marriage for him, he wouldn’t mind something happening with this beauty before him.
But since he was to marry Princess Grainne, to advance his power even further, he had to at least maintain the appearance of being a good husband.
Seeing Finn’s hesitation, Maeve sneered:
"What? Are you afraid she’ll find out?"
Upon hearing this, Finn’s face suddenly darkened, recalling the neglect and humiliation he suffered during the day.
"My Great Commander, if you’re timid about conquering a woman, how can you have the qualifications to conquer the enemy outside?"
Maeve shook her head, standing up contemptuously,
"Forget it, seems I picked the wrong target. If you’re afraid, just pretend I was never here tonight."
As soon as she finished speaking, an arm grabbed Maeve’s shoulder, and forcefully tossed her onto the couch.
In the shadow, Finn sneered coldly:
"Afraid? A mere woman wouldn’t dare make me afraid! Once Conmark is dead, as her husband, I will be Ireland’s new Supreme King. By then, both she and you will kneel at my feet!"
"Then, Your Majesty, let me see if your lance is sharp enough..."
Maeve giggled coquettishly on the couch, then, like a minister meeting the king, slowly knelt before Finn.
Meanwhile, outside the palace hall.
Grainne watched the shifting silhouette at the window, listening to the debauched sounds from inside, her face livid.
This night, she came at Ao Xiang’s invitation, to treat Finn.
For one thing, her reaction during the day was indeed somewhat excessive, making it hard for the Great Commander. Now, with great enemies before them, relations needed to be eased as much as possible;
For another, Diarmuid was still in the hands of those outsiders. She also hoped Finn could deliver a stellar performance, finding a way to redeem Diarmuid.
However, unexpectedly, upon arriving, she saw Finn and Maeve, that harlot, frolicking together and overheard the long-hidden ambition of the Great Commander.
This is good too!
Grainne snorted coldly, crushing the porcelain bottle of Druid healing potion into powder in her hand, then turning to leave the square.
