Chapter 1099 -1095: Tearing Off the Mask

“Xiaren, what are you thinking about?”

Qiao Xiaren came back to her senses and responded, “I’m fine, just spaced out for a moment.”

Yunduo couldn’t help but nag a bit more about Qiao Xiaren’s injury. While scrolling through her phone, her finger paused: “Xiaren, the online brand’s endorsement drama is acting up again.”

“The online endorsement?” Annie chimed in, “Didn’t Qiao hire Smith to handle it legally?”

Annie was completely confident about Smith. This minor issue would be a piece of cake for him.

“Online probably didn’t anticipate Xiaren finding a local lawyer in M Country, let alone someone of Smith’s caliber, so now they’re lashing out in anger.” Yunduo scoffed, “For a brand that’s been working hard to climb up from the second and third tiers, how can they display such a deplorable attitude online?”

“Let me take a look.”

Hearing Yunduo’s remark, Annie figured the situation had likely escalated. Sure enough, when she glanced at the trending topics leaderboard, Qiao Xiaren’s name was making waves.

“Wow, they really are lashing out now. Online’s official account is personally going after Qiao on Facebook.” Annie scanned the screen and quickly handed her phone over. “The official representative for Online just posted updates on both Facebook and Instagram. Look, they’re even using your S Country’s style of indirect insinuation. They’ve learned how to throw shade.”

Qiao Xiaren glanced at the phone. It was a personal account—Lily’s.

This Lily seemed to be the same woman who approached her last time to discuss the endorsement.

Lily: Some people really rely on their looks and popularity, getting spoiled by fans and advertisers. Acting all high and mighty! They agreed to collaborate but now they’re backing out. Sure, we’re not as strong, but isn’t going back on their word a sign of bad character?

Her previous posts barely got any likes or comments, but this update was gaining traction rapidly. Qiao Xiaren didn’t bother scrolling down to read the comments.

Here we go again.

Xiaren had never agreed to this so-called third-tier endorsement. Yet the Online brand representative announced their “collaboration” anyway. After Xiaren hired a lawyer to intervene, they turned around and accused her of being a diva. Ridiculous.

“What do we do now?”

Originally, this issue was about to be resolved, with Online needing to pay a sum in compensation. But now it seemed they were cornered and resorting to tearing things apart.

“They’re only adding another count of slander to their record.” Qiao Xiaren had long suspected Lily would stir up trouble. She wasn’t someone to mess with lightly.

Well then, Qiao Xiaren wasn’t easy to mess with either. This tactic might work on others, but pulling it on Qiao Xiaren would only result in losing big time.

Qiao Xiaren wasn’t interested in wasting time on back-and-forth drama. She intended to go straight to court against Online. She planned to have Smith publicly issue the lawyer’s invitation online—charges of image infringement, slander, and defamation weren’t minor offenses in M Country, and the impact wouldn’t be small.

A brand’s most important asset is its reputation. If the public sees a second- or third-tier brand engaging in such shady behavior, Online wouldn’t gain anything from this.

Yunduo understood Qiao Xiaren’s point, though she was also aware this whole incident might tarnish her to some extent. Xiaren was still in the early stages of breaking into M Country’s market, so if a Facebook feud escalated, it could become blackmail material in the future. free\NovelFire.c o(m)

The entertainment industry never concerned itself with the truth. Some people would seize the opportunity to twist things, and the resulting fallout could be catastrophic.

“Miss Qiao, take these adhesive patches back with you. Apply one per day. Your swelling should go down in three days, and you’ll be able to walk.” The doctor walked over and reminded her of a few details.
