Chapter 721: 11.05.1 Explosive momentum.

In a village torn apart by infighting due to the lack of water, all Mini knew since her childhood was conflict. She saw people fight for a drop of water each summer or die. As for running away from this accursed village? That was never the option; people can only be brought there for the opium farming, they can’t escape.

As for stealing the water meant for the opium? That was instant death in the eyes of the nobles ruling the area.

And that’s how Mini’s parents died off, they were hanged for their crimes, and their bodies were used as manure for the farms where nothing else could be grown anymore.

It was hell on earth, run by humans who were far more cruel than demons. Their mind were muddled due to devouring their own products and easily manipulated by their own subordinates who tried to gain more influence and power over the weak ones.

The cruelty she saw, the hunger she experienced, and the humanity she witnessed would twist the minds of many, and Mini was just a child; her outlook on life was not even developed when she saw the people defiling corpses in front of her.

Such is the fate of the world without order, a world without accountability. Those in power can deny any cruelty, and the powerless can only grovel at their feet, holding on to the hope of kindness.

Which is why Mini denied this kind of world.

She would help create a world of perfect equality, where the powerful will be held liable for their crimes, a world where the weak won’t be trampled. And she would realize this dream through Jester.

The being that had saved her from a life that was worse than hell. He had taught her arts, worldly knowledge, and shown her countless experiences through dreams, which further deepened her resolve.

’World is broken... saving it serves no purpose.’ She understood this point, and with such understanding, she moved ahead with the rest of her siblings toward the ultimate goal she had been promised.

’A new world.’ She thought.

It was a grand dream with countless forks in the road, and there was even a high chance of failure, but she still chose to stick to it.

And now, she was also on one of those forks toward her grand dream. And the one who could ruin that dream was right in front of her. "He knows of my existence." She can feel it, the man who had been deemed a Knight by many was far from that, he was a mage who somehow had been able to suppress his magical radiation from the rest of the people in the hospital. But the temperament of his matched that of the man from before.

His clothes, the aura he exuded, and the intent were all hidden from Mini’s eyes. She knew it was him, and he knew he had little time to act. ’But why hide?’ She wondered, looking toward Darde, but there was not much to consider at this point.

Her body moved, exploding into small paper talismans that disappeared in an instant. And by the time they reappeared, she was already in front of the man, whose face she could finally see. "Oh, I don’t know." She thought, finding the face unfamiliar even after coming this close. ’A false identity, a plant.’ She thought as her body was cleaved into two, along with most of the hallway.

Such an indiscriminate attack would have ended countless lives if there had been someone else present close by, but there was none for some odd reason. A reason she was already aware of. "The pawn of prophets, do they desire death so much that they are attacking in the open now?" Her broken body spoke, sealing the area and the surrounding voices.

While the man, looking at the youthful woman and childish voice, smiled for a bit. "The servant of the rat finally showed her face." He spoke, his body suppressing its magical might. "But why should she do so? Did you truly develop a relation with that pagan?" He asked. Well aware that his attack had done little damage to Mini.

Which was correct, as the papers born out of the void merged back again, into a body far too small to be called a child. No, it appeared more like a fairy. "A pagan, you say, our interest in him only grows with each passing attempt at his life." She spoke, looking at the man who had been aware of her background, as she is of his.

"He will die soon enough, just like your kind." The man sliced toward Mini again, turning her into ashes. "For now, don’t disturb me."

The more they wanted to kill Darde, the more interest welled up in Mini’s heart. "The city just got certain visitors... movements will cause sound."

Mini spoke, her voice as low as it could be.

But the man only laughed, not caring for her words at all. Which made one of Mini’s suspicions come true. ’He is ready to die today.’ The prophets had led Remira and Vance to this place for one purpose alone.

They intended to use them to thwart Mini’s plans and hopefully end her sad existence. That’s their intention, and for the most part, they will succeed, considering their previous failures. Which is probably why they don’t care if they are exposed now. In their eyes, whether they succeed or fail or even get caught, those two will end up being folly for the sapling plan.

That is why they never bothered impeding her until now. In their eyes, it has been a failure since the start of it all.

’But it won’t be a failure this time.’ Countless little papers born out of the void filled the hallway, and then before the man could react, all of them burst into flames and created a particular hex that sealed the man’s movements in an illusion of the mind.

’Loop.’ She spoke, bringing a knife soon after, rushing toward the man while she bled from her nose.

Pik

A glass-shattering sound came, and Mini’s right arm turned bloodied. But she never stopped; such defenses were under her expectation, and the blade she used was not something so simple.

Like a thin glass, the shields that were stacked on top of each other broke apart, sending backlash over Mini, causing fractures all over her body.

And the moment the blade came close enough to pierce her, everything came to a stop. "Good one." The man coughed up some blood, feeling the pain from the destruction of his shields, as well as the illusion that drained his mentality. "But it ends here." The man worked for the prophets; they were the highest order of Mystics to ever exist in the world.

In their eyes, providing protection from illusions of this kind was easy. Most of them even existed directly in the man’s head, which made it easier for him to break through the illusion that could have sent any Master rank Knight delirium for hours on end, to just break under ten seconds.

But the price was not something to be ignored. "Hateful ones."

A phantom blade appeared from the man’s hands again. "You see, I am unlike others..." He spoke, causing many more phantom blades to appear around him. "I love weapons." And then those weapons burst into the whole hospital, not limited to the floor, but exploding outward, destroying everything in their path, including the countless talismans that were sealing this area.

"Hmm?" A thought, followed by cracks on the ground. Remira’s body flew through the air like a cannon, shattering the sound barrier and reaching the hospital ground in a matter of seconds.

"Ho..." The man looked toward her before his body slowly burned out on its own. His purpose was already completed.

For there in the rubble lay the body of Darde, butchered into mince meat under the onslaught of the spectral weapons that couldn’t be stopped in time.

Which meant his purpose was fulfilled.

Which also meant death.

Remira rushed, ignoring the familiar smell and the bodies that did indeed need help, she ignored them all and reached the man, hoping to at least learn what happened and why. But all she got in return was ashes.

"What?" It felt like a joke, for the flames that burnt this man alive, they were all too familiar to Remira. "Red Sun?"

Things were far more complicated than one might imagine.
