Chapter 699: 11.01.4 I am back.
But it’s not his fault. The love that he had in his heart, had dried up. ’The future is more important.’ Sometimes, one struggles to face his needs. Sometimes, one has to abandon certain aspects of oneself to go ahead in life. ’It’s for the people.’ And Amir, knows all too well how important his sacrifices are.
In this world, they think little of the poor and weak people, the ones in power will never care until the weak start becoming a threat, and then they will come with suppression, instead of understanding why the weak dare to rise up, what pushed the poor to hate their overlords and try to fix it.
So Amir in his own way tries to make the life of the poor easier. With his electric engine being the first step towards it.
As for weapons? He had left it entirely to Wilhelm Faust, his friend and a sort of teacher. He himself focused on adapting the military technologies that had been in use for decades into common household products.
Something lowly for one holding the title of Marshall, someone capable of forcing the entire military to war if he wishes to.
But Amir did none of that. To him, this identity was more of a cover, and to appease certain old factions of the military that had their eyes on the seat of Marshall, Amir was forced to marry this woman whom only Hemant had met a long time ago.
It’s funny how life plays games. He had inadvertently become part of things he had no power over. And his wife, well she is one hell of a demon. But that is understandable as from the history he later learned of this family and the misery they had to go through, things just made sense. More so when this family is the family of that demon, Farhad.
’I expected this would happen... but I won’t let it go your way, grandpa.’ And unlike what his Wife expected of him, he really didn’t wish to mess with Farhad, more so after a warning from an old-time compatriot of his. ’Farhad is off the books, don’t touch him... don’t force him into this life again.’ Those were the words of the warning and although too simple lacking any context, unlike before when Amir had ignored similar warnings, this time Amir chose to accept them and carry them out with his own will.
’But I know things won’t be as peaceful.’ As Amir’s eyes turned bloody, he felt countless existences close to his home. Some he did know, and some he was sensing for the first time.
And for some reason, there were two royals mixed in. ’They are panicked.’ Amir was a star child, someone being brought up by his grandfather for a specific purpose, a purpose he was well aware of. And with how things have gone his way, there must be certain Royal’s threatened by his rise. And they were here, to sense his level and the threat he posed.
Of course, they will remain ignorant of his real strength and also the fact that his brother-in-law is not just a simple schmuck.
’Please, don’t do anything stupid and find it out.’ Amir is not scared of his own health, his wife herself is under the protection of Grandmaster-ranked mages from her previous college. He was someone who had reached a higher realm as a grandmaster on his own, becoming the youngest Grandmaster in ages.
And probably the youngest of this generation, if not for certain perverts that had risen recently. But that doesn’t deny the strength he carries. Not, it was further proof of his talent and potential.
"Today’s work is done, lead me go home everyone, I will be visiting my chambers later." There was no need for proper dinner, he had abandoned countless little formalities that he grew up with after becoming married. One of the most common is being not too keen on dinners as much. He just got a plate of food on his bed next to his wife, who regularly had proper dinner with her mother.
But this was more time-consuming, it’s better to consume nutrients on your own. More so, this late of food he now ate was mostly drugs and potions turned into solid food by mixing it with grains and such, to still give some illusion of humanity.
Otherwise, he would just subsist on drugs if possible. But his grandfather as usual had denied such suggestion. ’Maintain humanity, he says.’
Going to his bedroom, he found the plate with his food, as usual, on a table next to the bed. He silently took and ate it while his wife had long gone to sleep.
A wife who was Master ranks herself and seems to be reaching for grandmaster on her own. Hell, her talent did exceed her father’s, but she was still slow compared to him in growth. If her father hadn’t died during that day, he would have long entered the ranks of grandmaster.
But Fahna for some reason remained at Master, and when asked why, even though she was so talented. There was not much answer on her end.
Suffice it to say, Amir didn’t care much at that point. Her life and choices were her own, she was forced into this marriage more than he was and the gain she got was mostly some protection. Imagine being treated as a trophy after achieving so much in life. It was degrading, but she still endured and married him.
Which altogether did make Amir feel a tad bit sad. ’But what can be done?’ He thought before his eyes turned bloody red, and he looked in a certain direction. "Who dares to enter my room at this hour?" At those words, Fahna woke up, her eyes wide awake, while her body was covered in transparent flames that nearly started to devour the bed on which they slept, but neither Amir nor Fahna cared.
Not did the Grandmasters that entered the room of the two after noticing the oddity.
"There is no need to panic, I was just curious about something," Farhad spoke, his face twisting and shifting white looking at a small family photo on the wall, before becoming the same old lanky young boy that had disappeared from the lives of his family all those decades ago.
But that action caused a disturbing feeling to creep up in the people present, with one exception: "You... you said you would not show your face to us from now." Fahna spoke, her voice was a bit emotional but mostly covered by anger.
"I... I am not good with this sis." In front of his sister, the monster that he once was didn’t exist anymore, he went to his old introverted self, feeling little in front of his larger-than-life sister that overshadowed him so much.
It doesn’t matter how old he gets, it doesn’t matter how strong and oppressive he feels to others, in front of his family, he would still remain the bullied young boy that gets thrown around a lot.
And it was because of this specific tone of her brother that she truly accepted who he was. "Good at what? Peeping at your sister and her husband sleeping in their bed?" She asked again, while the close-by grandmasters remained quiet. Their reason?
It was something genetic, they felt something bizarre from this thing young man, something so dangerous that made them aware of one thing. ’We got no chance.’ The only thing normal about that young man was his looks, the rest was definitely not human. It was something more, something primal that caused them to instinctively remain quiet.
This is why the feat of Fahna talking so casually to this monster made it all sound so odd. ’Just what is he?’ They wondered, only being aware of stories and the fact that this boy contains the flames that so many people are after. But none are able to obtain it for some reason.
As for the reason, it somewhat makes sense. ’He is too strong.’
"It’s not... that’s not why. I... Just wanted to confirm." He only received the message a few hours ago, but he traveled over half the Cynark kingdom in a matter of those hours after leaving his new family behind just to confirm some things.
And his other reason.
"What is it that you wanted to confirm, Farhad?"
"There is no love in this marriage... they truly are using you, Sister."
