Chapter 692: 10.08.6 Herald of Death.
Lying in the world of transcendent beings is useless. For they can break through all lies and deception, their domains showed them the truth of the reality surrounding them, and their strength capable of overpowering any illusions that a mage can conjure up.
There was a reason why the School of Phantasm was not so pronounced in the world as much. A dying school that was only good for parlor tricks or when you are trying to lean into the minds of your enemies or research projects.
But there comes a time when with the addition of something unique, these lies, these fantasies can turn out problematic.
"Where are you looking?" The body of that Demoness turned from one to multiples in a matter of seconds, each appearing as real under the senses of the Angel, each holding strength to annihilate him hundreds of times.
All false, all an illusion realized in reality[p holding no strength behind them. But their appearance caused trouble to the angel, who couldn’t tell them apart, finding himself being hit by the real one far more often.
But he never stopped or slowed down, even under the onslaught where his divine body rotted under the venom of the Scorpion Demon’s tail, the Angel kept killing itself or a rebirth, bringing in more strength the more he died.
The same was true for the Demon, who kept gaining strength as more and more Abyss energy poured into her body.
This was a never-ending battle, there would be no winners considering the talents of the two. One cannot be harmed, the other can keep reviving. While I was stuck there, hoping to tilt the battle to the Demon’s side.
For I am a Demon as well, from now on.
With a beam of obliteration that fell from the sky, some changes occurred. "Target locked." Came an artificial voice without any emotion in it. I had just looked up toward it, but my mind went black under the bright lights that fell on my body.
Destroying my spiritual body in an instant.
"Herald of the Death... I appreciate your help." Spoke the Light bringer, as he bowed to the figure that appeared as a phantom in the sky. A figure made entirely of skin stretched out thin to form a hollow human.
Such a bizarre existence was none other than one of the strongest angels of the Red Sun. The one who heralded the lord of death. He was Red Sun’s messenger, and his appearance was not a simple matter.
"You bastards, cowardice, I see." My body reformed at least the one I made with my psychic strength was rebuilt again, the loss was not negligible as well. But this was to be expected considering the shameless attack I just suffered under.
’Hah.’ As for my true body, before it had taken a proper form after rebirth, it got a new injury added on top, I can’t even hide in the world of Spirits for it being the realm of Gods, and fearing their revenge.
’Hah...’ As for nightmares, that was not a place one should hide Domains, it would be a feast for the hungry nightmares that barely had any chance to interact with the real world. My body being a nightmare would probably be fine, but the domain that exists in a different form is nothing more than food in their eyes.
I can’t hide in there as well.
So stuck here, in the material plane, unable to extract any more origins from the spirit world to recuperate, nor go into Nightmare world.
I was to be here, either hoping for death or escaping to the void and drifting away like a nomad. ’Hah.’ So I looked up and understood one thing. ’This is not a fight I am winning.’ That attack, I felt it familiar, it was the smell of death, the ones that had always beckoned me to go down to hell.
No, I can’t. I didn’t go then, nor will I go now.
"I won’t lose." And in such a situation, I don’t intend to let things go their way. So although I had to say sorry to my friend Wajih for breaking a promise, I looked toward the Demoness who kept fighting and said. "Zarakhiel... come with me, if you want to live." The attacks were non-stop, with the appearance of the 2nd angel, the chances of winning were negligible. I might pursue chaos and enjoyment, but I am no fool who will run toward flames like a fly.
It would be foolish to struggle against such odds. So escape became my priority. And the Scorpion demon that seems to be listening to me, for now at least.
So I would save her.
With an explosion, my body was thrown off again before the Demoness could come close. It would seem as if my enemies were aware of my intentions, making this job harder than it ought to be.
"I won’t stop." I can feel the pull, I can feel my domain slowly dislodging itself from this place. It won’t be long before it starts to move away on its own.
"Come," I spoke, my body appearing beside the Scorpion Demoness, whose first instinct was to stab my skull with her tail. Injecting her venom and destroying my head in a moment.
Even if I have tolerance towards the poison, the impact and strength of the demoness are enough to destroy me. But that would be an issue if it was a real body. For me now, just being a spirit, I easily ignored such injury long enough for me to drag her into my domain. "I win." With those words, my entire body exploded, disappearing from this world.
Leaving the two Angel’s dumbfounded.
Well, only just one. The other, looking at its failure, turned silent before his body started to rot and fell to the ground, returning to earth.
The priest that was used as a vessel can never be brought back to life, for he had returned to the god’s side.
And even if he was brought back, imagine life just like his own skin.
While for the Light Bringer, looked at this scene, spoke a few words in frustration, and then he left.
He had heard the tales, the stories of the failures that had been going around among the church officials. Oddities rising and causing chaos non-stop for the past century. And the chaos just kept increasing without limits, as if there was a force pulling strings in the dark.
And the Angel, after meeting one of those forces, finally understood.
’They were not incompetent.’ There was hatred in his eyes, never have been a day that he was forced to ask for help.
More so, they failed even after asking for help. This whole world, this place, was turning far more chaotic than the Angel had expected. And the church was not to blame for their incompetence when the enemies they were facing were so headache-inducing.
’That nightmare.’ From the memories or those that it can access, the angel did recall the existence of Nightmares, their capabilities, and the danger they pose. "Francois, I won’t seal these memories of mine, read them, spread them among the church. You are to build a team consisting of powerful Mystics." Francois, the man he inhabited through his entire battle, was the Chosen of the church, and unlike others who will die after possession, a Chosen can’t die so easily.
Even then, a chosen is capable of harnessing more power of the god, than any other vessel.
"But before that happens, I need to do a few more things." Spoke the Light Bringer, catching the essence of the mages that were playing gods in this place before his eyes burned with zealot fury. "The light will claim all."
He was going to hunt the mages in return for failing his mission. This is the most he can do to bring some sanity and order back to this world.
As for me?
"Go, play..." My body dodged the attack of the scorpion that lost its target. But my dodges here were faster, and for some reason, this demon couldn’t use her teleports or inhuman strength, unlike before.
Probably a gift of Abyss.
"This is the world of fantasy, enjoy it to your heart’s content.’ Although small, only a kilometer long, it could easily entrap the Demoness in an eternal battle, which was her fantasy that she had looked at all her life and unlife.
And with the abyss support, making her fall for it was far easier.
However, with that done, my attention shifted to the other individual in my domain, as well as the pieces of some flesh I still had left. ’If I can regrow a new body.’
The domain was drifting in the void, the space between the spirit world, the material one, and the mortal one that existed on the other side of the veil. And once lost, it gets harder and harder to recover and return.
I need to find a body, a vessel to carry my will. Or enough believers who can act as anchors on their own
