Chapter 679: 10.06.6 Don’t fall for it.
My puppet remained immune to the visions, even the encroachment of Abyss was not as harsh as it might appear, for my body contained the burning vigor of the Sun, which did harm me internally, but it also burnt off the influence of the Abyss to a certain extent. Letting me be free of the unpredictable dangers.
It’s how I was able to lead my blind companion ahead. ’What are you seeing?’ I wondered, looking in that direction, hoping to see some things myself. But the sun’s vigor kept dashing my dreams to pieces, just like how it broke my body.
The intent was visible in the mark that was left on my body, it was to drain me of my strength, but considering that part was already done and my soul was weak, it was harder to recover what was once lost, causing the suppression of the sun to in turn kill me slowly.
’Hurry.’ Such a contradictory thing, the one thing that was killing me also was making it easier for me to walk deeper and deeper into the abyss.
And not long before, spires appeared, horns that broke through the ground and reached above. Though how they looked and how tall they were, I dared not to focus on those. I just kept the mind of my friend straight and hoped to find a Sanctuary where there wouldn’t be any traps. Which in turn meant, ignoring the ones that were already on the map noted.
Which was harder said than done.
For there were none. "I can’t take chances." I looked at my friend, his body turning red, while some decay naked out of his body. There were always limits and my friend was reaching it faster than expected.
But I didn’t change my intentions, his out-of-focus state and delirium made it easier for me to manipulate him, the visions that were causing him to waste his time in the Abyss were in turn killing him. But he was in a state that any suggestion said in his ears would be listened to. He would treat them as the truth as thinking becomes harder when influenced by the Abyss.
It won’t be long before my voices will have to find the voices of the Abyss itself, though that step was a bit further away from me.
I still had the chance, I still led my friend further away. And it wasn’t long before a Demon appeared in our sight.
Dogs with no skin and lava dripping out of their body, it’s what Wajih defined to me, and the term Hellhounds came to my mind. And if there were Hellhounds here, then it can only mean one thing.
"Run." Hellhounds, they were Herald of the Devil.
And a Devil... it’s not something that I can fight off for the moment. ’Impossible for them to bring something like that here.’ I cursed the situation. A devil can’t walk the material plane without an anchor of his own, even then, if they didn’t have the will of a God supporting their existence, the amount of sacrifices for a Devil to come to this material plane is immense. A city won’t be enough.
But they were Hellhounds, Artificial creations molded out of the souls that had been claimed by the Devil. Once an intelligent being capable of thought and speech, now just a dog in the hands of a Devil that can’t die or even cry for help. Everything now belongs to the one they contracted.
"This is dangerous." It was troublesome, it was highly unlikely that I would survive a meeting with such beings, if they were here that is. ’But they should be... Cynark is behind this... they are dealing with the Abyss forces.’
The deaths in combat, the sacrifices. Sometimes, things don’t make sense, but once you learn something, the clues start to connect and you get the full picture. ’How?’ Though the question of How remains with the addition of Why.
Cynark as a country was affiliated with the Church of Red Sun, which was the biggest religion on the Brihma continent. So for them to do something so audacious was the same as putting themselves in the crossfire.
Not much might happen, but if the matter were exposed, they would have to pay a lot in return.
The matter is, the Cynark hid a Devil here.

"Mage Apsara, it would seem that our intruder met with the Demon Dogs." An old man spoke, his eyes darting around the small map, as he placed a small coin over it. "There is a chance our matters might be exposed." Spoke the old voice.
The tower was mostly empty at the moment. Only four Mages were active, working to ensure that the Tower was maintained. Two of those four met with intruders not too long ago. Their intentions were clear, leading the new intruders to their traps.
All because the traditional ways won’t work on beings of such caliber.
And while the Mage named Apsara obviously did her job spectacularly, the old and much more senior Mage by the name of Luftrun failed at it. But it was not a complete failure, that will only happen when the intruders escape the abyss, as until then, they still had a chance.
"You think they will survive after coming across those dogs?" The abyss can never create anything other than the Devils, whose births usually happen when a few fears are implanted into the psyche of intelligent beings.
As for giving birth to beasts like the dogs, that is impossible, they were just corrupted souls that found themselves in service of one of those Devils.
As for which devil it was? Neither of them knew, they didn’t even understand the relation between a Hell hound and a Devil Completely. All they understood was that there was a Devil behind those dogs, meaning if those dogs found the intruders, so did the Devil.
"They walked out of the path defined and will suffer for it." The old man replied.
Even he had been warned by his Senior about the dogs and the Devil, who was the real Tower master. Even though they couldn’t handle or control a Devil, the most they could do was come to an understanding in return for certain sacrifices.
Meaning, they were co-conspirators of whatever they were doing here.
"But alas, those two seemed to hold potential. Specifically the ill child in the hands of the man. I don’t know why..." Mage Luftrun spoke, looking at the small coin moving on the map followed by a small swarm of little ants.
A sign that the Tower of Mages had a way to completely keep track of all that was happening in the abyss, something considered impossible due to the Abyss’s corruption. Which would devour most kinds of energy.
"From the records I saw, that might not be a child, just something that took its form." Mage Apsara spoke, turning the pictures that the mages had taken of the duo. "The child is leading the man, that is for certain." She spoke, holding a certain level of interest considering the child had predicted and exposed who they actually were.
But the Old man, watching this with some interest, spoke in return. "That’s obviously Mage Apsara. This one might already have some internal knowledge of our actions in the abyss, or he can truly come up with the right answer on his own. Both of which explain that his background and mind are not simple."
As he spoke, something interesting happened. The Coin that was followed by the ants stopped in its place. This would mean that the carrier of that child had reached his limits, but the next thing that happened surprised both him and the girl.
Those ants ignored the coin and kept moving ahead. "What?"

I looked at Wajih, his face pale and his movements stagnated in the middle. The word, "Mother" Came out of his mouth as his speed slowed down at the front and he started to walk toward an empty corner. His mind had reached its limits. And the dogs will probably end up killing us.
’I can’t.’ At that point, I had to use my tricks again, on a bigger scale considering the enemy. And with a burst of Nightmarish aura that expunged from my body, the senses of the Demon dogs were confused, they ignored us and walked ahead, leaving us well and fine, but that was the limit. ’I can’t hold it.’ At those thoughts, my face twisted, a childish confusion came to half of my face, while the other half with all its strength formed a lip on my cheek, which slowly formed into a mouth.
A mouth through which I shouted. "WAJIH WAKE UP... YOU ARE BLIND, YOUR FAMILY IS DEAD, BUT THEIR KILLER AREN’T.... DON’T FALL NOW...NOT SO CLOSE!!" With little bits of my strength, I sent forward a psychic blast into his mind, waking him up from his groggy state.
