Chapter 670: 10.05.2 The fooled Baan.
Not just one, but every single heart in all his clones had disappeared, causing fear to form in Chalice’s head. ’How?’ He focused, feeling chains that surrounded his clones and him, some even going into the distant void, to the clones that were hidden far off.
And then, there was another chain that connected him to the man below him.
A man who held his own heart in his hand. Surprised over the fact that his enemy had already regenerated his heart in a matter of seconds. "Surprising one." Blood magic was to be expected to be capable of such feats. Of course Blood magic was strong, killing those who practiced it was harder than killing rats in a city.
So something more drastic needs to be done. "Sacrifice." With another hex, his body glowed up and the heart in Malidi’s hand turned to ash, it was also this time that Chalice struck his hand, summoning countless blood swords that rushed towards Malidi who didn’t even have his domain open for teleportation.
Boom, with the disappearance of their heart, Malidi’s body was rendered weak and pale, with no blood circulation, even his thinking would be impacted, that is if he was still the old him. Now this body was nothing more than an anchor to this mortal plane, the abuse he could force it through was immense, and facing such attacks that with each cut dragged part of his blood was even easier to deal with.
’Burn.’ His mind spoke, summoning the fire of hell from the ashes of his heart while his body slowly turned dried up and into a mince under the onslaught of the swords, followed by clones Chalice that each held a sealing magic striking what remained of Malidi.
But it was at this moment, that the flames formed of the heart’s ashes exploded, burning all those around it, including Malidi’s body and around four clones of Chalice, who screamed in pain.
A pain that was shared with all those connected to him, further fueling the fear in his eyes and causing many of his bodies to back off from the ensuing flames that were flying toward him. "What are you?" Chalice was curious, unable to comprehend what these spells were and why they were so potent even though the energy behind them was so insignificant.
Why, and how? One will wonder when facing Malidi, whose body automatically reconstructed in the place of his demise, appearing young albeit naked for a second before he conjured up some clothes with a single thought of his.
"I am warning you, I might not be able to kill you, but the pain and losses will be higher on your end." Malidi never said he would lose much, to him, this fight was not so hard to deal with.
"Arrogance, someone who gained great power in a short time had a habit of turning arrogant." Chalice on the other hand, although feared this opponent, didn’t lose hope. The only reason he was passive was due to the limit of his vessel and material plane, matched with ignorance on his end concerning the means through which his opponent fought.
While his own blood magic was far easier to understand. Which is why, although the pain was too much to bear, Chalice made up his mind. ’I can’t come out of it winning.’ He understood this better than anyone.
But just like Malidi said, he won’t die no matter what happens. His true body was not here and his vessels were just a carrier of his will and hence can be treated as fodder.
So why not use this fodder to understand this bizarre man, his means, his talents, and his strength, so that in the future, if there is a conflict, Chalice will be ready?
After the first few seconds of using even his Mercy on the opponent, letting him experience the worst pain imaginable, Malidi understood the game of his opponent. "The arrogant one is you." He spoke, his body broken and burned in various places, but recovered in the next second.
"You think I don’t know how to deal with immortal beings like you? All I need is one hit, and it’s over for you. While I?" Chalice spoke as the previous dead Clones of his suddenly came back to life from a single drop of blood. "I am just better."
Half the time, it was always a fight about mentality, the one who loses the mental game will lose the actual one, so Chalice played his cards, letting the newly risen Daemon understand that immortality is not so useful in this world.
However, the response he got from Malidi surprised him.
"Then come, I am wide open, use your best sealing methods on me, seal me, destroy me, remove my traces from this material plane." Only the ignorant can have arrogance in front of Malidi, and this ignorant one truly didn’t understand the true nature of his strength, so letting him experience it was better.
Not to mention, the harm their fight did to this place was already enough. Malidi had done his best to keep the damage to a minimum, and this way, if he could break the opponent’s will, then all the better.
Of course, Chalice won’t fall for these words. He was arrogant but never a fool. Who knows what Malidi can be planning, considering he had, at multiple points, caused harm to all his clones at once, which was a feat probably hard for even gods. So how?
’This bastard.’ But CHalice couldn’t help it at the end, the mockery on Malidi’s face, which was just genuine disinterest irked him a lot.
That serpent was usually the one being played by him, how can there be a being weaker than him to play with him like this?
So Chalice took on the challenge, bringing a small group of his clones to conduct a sacrificial sealing ceremony on his opponent.
Which is just what he wanted to do.
’Baan.’ The tool that is generally used to seal the immortal serpent, there had been many weaker relics born out of it by extracting the essence of the True Baan, a zero-tier relic. And in his hand there were already three of them. ’Fool.’ And Baan was unlike other sealing means, they were something that directly dealt with the rules of this very world, meaning no matter the strength, realm, or means, it’s impossible to escape from it.
And currently, this small newly risen guy in front of him was woefully letting him seal himself.
’A fool.’ He had been out hunting an immortal serpent, why wouldn’t he have a Baan on his hand? And why won’t he use it on someone as immortal as his current opponent?
Not like it was the real Baan anyway, just a small extract of it. But this small thing can show wonders in the right hands. Which it did.
Chalice didn’t speak much, using his most advanced blood-sealing magic on Malidi just as a cover for the Baan in his pocket. Isn’t it just wonderful? Not to mention, Logical considering how much over-confidence his opponent was showing.
’I will understand you.’ Although an individual under the effects of Baan can’t move or hurt in his place, it will still give Chalice ample time to understand him, that’s how he will gain an edge as well as certain companions now that he has confirmed Malidi’s strength.
If he can’t do it, others will probably have a way.
So came the Baan, hidden in the blood seals as they flew toward Malidi, who welcomed it without a hurry, appearing oblivious to his fate.
But, something odd happened. "Hmm." The eyes of Malidi lit up and a smile came. "Finally, I found it," he spoke, his domain unfurling and his body teleporting out of the Seal’s way.
But Chalice didn’t call him a coward, because once the seal activates, it will follow its target non-stop, that’s why the blood magic was so annoying.
"Fascinating." This was not a simple seal, due to the time given and sacrifices used to cast it, which is not possible during an active battle scene, it can track Malidi without issue, causing mild annoyance and then.
Boom.
Came a small feeble hand out of the void, letting his body touch the seal. But the seal ignored the hand and kept moving toward Malidi, who seemed to be out of options.
"I used your blood as a proxy, it will hunt you till the end of days, so unless you can break it, it will be your doom." And Doom it was, due to using the Baan in it as a material while casting this seal, even Malidi had no way to crack it, which is initially why he had chosen to break his own arrogant claims and escape.
But would that truly be able to end Malidi?
Well, he was just starting. "Domain expansion, the play of the past." With those words, an unassuming flower bloomed in the middle of Paradise, and then, a couple of figures were reborn into this world, figures appearing young and ignorant. Though among all these figures, there was he, there was Malidi, appearing isolated and curious over the bizarre environment he found himself in.
Though before such curiosity could bore fruit, the Seal fell on his body. Much to Chalice’s horror. "How... this can’t be possible." The fate and rules of this world can’t be fooled, not so easily at least.
"What is this domain?" He looked and felt it far more archaic than the young Malidi, something didn’t make sense. Something was incompatible with his perception.
