Chapter 667: 10.04.4 Foolish Jester.

What was this monster’s intention? Wajih didn’t know, but he did dare to learn as much as he could while they traveled. Although he appeared mortal and somewhat childish in his eyes, Wajih knew better than to be led on by a being of this stature. This includes the story he told before, which Wajih believed none of.

What he did was regret, listening to this man and finding himself in this predicament. But then again, if not for this Totem, he might have fallen into the trap of his enemies, turning nothing but fodder for them, helping them achieve things he could never do.

So what to think? Wajih didn’t know, this might just be a devil that was using his enemies to manipulate his thoughts, with Crow helping him, it didn’t mean this totem had the best interest in his heart.

The chances of him being used as a sacrifice were far higher than he would live to accept, but the fact that the will of the one being sacrificed is also needed made this a bit more manageable. Futile thoughts on his end, foolish he was to think I was such an evil bastard, but these were the seas filled with Totems that rose in the Voodoo culture, such fear was understandable.

"I feel like there is a pirate ship not too far off," I spoke, my eyes looking toward the open waters usually frequented by merchant ships, but due to chaos and wars happening on the seas constantly due to the serpent, things were pretty slow on the trade side, leaving these pirate hungry and making them walk in waters they usually wouldn’t travel unless they were out for hunt.

And this might be both this time.

So it happened as you would expect, we took it over, controlled the captain, and made him sail the ship toward the mainland non-stop.

As for stopping midway to restock resources on the ship? That was disallowed, the means of Voodoo totems is too varied, they are dangerous and I can’t let Wajih be caught up. So with a bit of influence in their feeble mind, they did as I expected them to, they drove the ship one-minded, dragging their bodies under hunger and thirst doing what I needed them to.

While the eyes with which Wajih looked at me were far more serious than before, this level of mental manipulation, that’s not normal. This was a perversion of human will. "Don’t fear it, I only do this to those that don’t carry good stories with them... while you, your story is pretty fascinating." I tried to console the guy, who didn’t seem to believe a word of mine, nor did he understand what I meant by stories.

Well, to each their own, he will come to understand in due time.

"They are at their limit," I say, looking at the feeble bodies dropping one by one. "Hope you have recovered?"

"I have... but I don’t think I can enter the mainland with the tight wall that they have created." Currently, the Cynark empire had built up a barrier all in order to detect The Serpent’s attack. Which makes it so that even people like Wajih might not be able to move.

"Leave that to me," I spoke with my hand dried up and feeble, it was harder to hide and Wajih knew I had little time left, but he didn’t dare to act out nor did he tried to sabotage me in any way, it might be his hope that I stand true to my words, and I will.

So things went on as was expected, my body, as weak as it was due to decade-long abuse at the hands of Lord emotion, with my soul feeble and broken, was still capable of dealing with a bunch using tools to detect oddities.

I was still a totem, even if an incomplete one without domain, fooling their machines was not hard, a bit of lies worked wonders, making them ignore my intrusion and they gave us the pass without worries, which made Wajih more worried about the longer he looked.

This was dangerous, he thought. A being capable of influencing the minds so easily? What was his potential? How much hard was he capable of?

How good it would have been if this talent was his. There was a mix of envy and fear in Wajih’s eyes, never in his life had he ever come across something so absurd. Even the mages and Spiritualists he had heard doing something the same usually took loads of effort and even medicines to turn the mind slow.

But this. There is no price, no effort, just pure control.

I felt a bit special. "I don’t generally do this, it’s boring to take over one’s will, but I am limited by options." I prefer things to go chaotic from time to time, but that can’t happen anymore, I have my limits and my body is collapsing, so I was forced to use means that I usually don’t, which when boosted by my current realm made my job far easier.

Oh, how different the previous scenario would have gone on if I had this level of control before all this happened.

Malidi flew in the air, collecting as much material as others had harvested from Heroth. He enjoyed the breeze and the future he had in mind.

’Oh little nightmare, your plans won’t come to fruition.’ His mind danced from thoughts to plans and the hope of others including the one that claimed to be his student.

’No one will survive the union.’ Jester the fool wishes to use nature’s domain seed to rebuild his own, hoping to recover what he lost and more so. But that’s not possible. How can the dead and a nightmare possess a Domain to begin with?

It’s not that Jester never had the time or chance to build one; it’s just that he can’t possess one.

And in case he does try to absorb something that he shouldn’t possess? Well, the green head in him will burst out, devouring Jester whole. ’Ignorant one.’ Yes, the "Jester" as we call him will obtain a domain this way, but this "jester" will also die in some odd ways.

So there was no lie, Jester would obtain a domain and might even become a true Totem, but Jester might not be Jester no more, but revive as the dead God Lakram.

And it’s Lakram that interests Malidi for the moment. ’Finding him... you took him from me.’ There was a certain hint of annoyance over the fact that Jester had been able to find that old dead god’s remains, and not even made it so that he became the owner of that dead god. But there are always ways to deal with such problems, and by reviving Lakram for good, it will be a non-issue.

As for losing a good tool like Jester? Well, the truth is, even if not to the same level, with his understanding, he can create a clone using Jester’s remains that exist in his own domain, a copy of the realm thing, but not the real thing.

So Jester dying was a non-issue at this point.

He did what was needed and in a way doesn’t owe Jester anymore, so the relationship can be cut off for now.

’Hope you succeed.’

With those words, Malidi’s body dived down towards the Verna Islands and disappeared after using the remains of Heroth as a key.

And not too far from him, his existence was noticed by a Dragon, currently in her human form looking old and frail, but the wonder in her eyes for the islands was not hidden. ’Such a simple place.’

This place hid secrets to that Immortal Serpent, and no matter how hard she looked, she just couldn’t find the answer.

It was also during the time that she saw the existence of the old man that she knew was not something she could face on her own, not to mention from what she heard of the survivors of Cave of Wonders, the identity of this man was obvious.

’He knows a way inside.’ She saw his body disappearing and this thought came to her mind instantly. But then she shut up and looked behind her men. "Set up the explosives." For a being of Malidi’s level, he obviously noticed her and the actions of the dwarves, but he said nothing and let them do what they wanted.

Which was inserting heavy explosives into the very core of the island after drilling them, all loaded with magically volatile elements that were even banned in the majority of countries.

But for the dwarves, getting their hands on it was easy, for they made it.

’Whatever the case.’ She recalled the details and how to do it. As long as these Islands remain no more, and sink into the ocean, that serpent won’t even revive again.

"I apologize for the disturbance." She said in the distance, while with a thought, caused the charges on the island to go off.

One by one mushroom clouds appeared over the horizon, tearing apart the atmosphere and causing bursts of magical radiation to kill all life around the surrounding seas.

This was it.

This simple attack marked the end of the immortal serpent.

Or so they thought.

"Welcome back friend."

Malidi spoke to the reborn child in a small pool, ignorant of the world, ignorant of its true nature. "The future of us is going to be wonderful." No one at this point understood the horrors Malidi had in mind for this world.
