Chapter 659: 10.03.1 He looked at me.

With most of them dead. And the same fate might have befallen his men if not for the enemy showing some mercy.

"A totem dares to attack here?"

"No Lord, it was just a Legend... like us."

’A grandmaster?’ That didn’t seem possible, there were six legends here, how could a Grandmaster cause such damage in little time? There ought to be something going on.

"Tell me exactly what happened?"

He had only left for no less than an hour, how could so much damage and death happen during his leave? Though the answer surprised him. "We... we don’t know, at one point we were going to leave this place with our harvest, and then... everything stopped."

"Hmm?" The Legends were just going to leave the area and spread the warning that Wardlog had given them to the close by islands and start the evacuation process, but before any of that could happen, their bodies had frozen into the skies, unable to move or do a thing white the inventory they collected disappeared on its own one by one.

But that was not all, seeing this as an opportunity, many came like hyenas, intending to steal what was left and even kill the legends, but then came a man covered in iron armor, defending the legends at first, letting no harm come to them as he dealt with the enemies in a safe and secure fashion.

Which made them wonder if this man was part of their alliance as well. But then, he had bled them out, collecting their blood and leaving with the little remains of the dragon he could find.

"What... who would dare?" Wardlog wondered, before going silent again, he had detected many of the hyenas in the dark, though none of them could compare to his strength so it had been pretty confident in leaving the legends on their own.

And mind you, six legends was a strength that exceeded the firepower of Yethel, they alone were capable of conquering Bothal even with the Guardian Dragon Vesta present there. So how can these six be defeated so easily?

The answer was obvious, if there was someone hiding from his detection methods, then it wouldn’t be odd if his men couldn’t find him as well. However, if that someone was stronger than him, then it would be another matter altogether. Because if they were, they wouldn’t need to hide for so long.

As for who it was? That was not so important. "Speak of it, Present me what little remains of your... no worries." Wardlog turned his eyes to the people below, those who were drained alongside his men.

And without their consent, he extracted their blood to the limits, turning all of them into dried-up husks. As for those who remained, but didn’t have their blood drained? Killing them here would be too foolish and a waste of good resources, so he let them live, for now, while the blood orb that appeared in his arm kept getting smaller and smaller before turning into a small puppet made of flesh.

"Find him." The one who took their blood can be considered stupid.

Obviously, Wardlog expects this person to have means of shading himself from the majority of detection techniques, otherwise only a fool will pull such a stunt. Even then, Wardlog considered this individual a fool nonetheless. The means in the hands of legends and a totem-like him were far different.

He can play with the fates if he wishes to, tracking a bloodsucker was not much of an issue on his end.

Not to mention, this might be an opportunity. An opportunity to make Cynark owe them a bit considering this action might have been pulled by none other than a secret Cynarkian force with one of their "Nobles". The fact that the vampires had awoken one after another in the recent decade is more proof of the games the Cynarkians are playing.

So blaming them in this case was not wrong on his end.

As he expected, the puppet did trace the blood, turning around and teleporting, showing the strength of legend without any struggle as it carried Wardlog’s senses all over the ocean until coming across a piece of ocean that smelled odd, smelled of blood, but there were no red in it, only a bunch of predators in the sea that too were attracted to the smell.

’What?’ He came and looked around, finding that blood didn’t appear red at the moment for one simple reason. ’Taking away a part of the blood, leaving the rest here?’ It was a bizarre action, something he could never expect anyone to do.

That was the blood of legends, if turned into an elixir, it can be helpful to even Grandmaster-ranked individuals. So how can he abandon it so readily?

Something was wrong. ’I have noted this down.’ For now, Wardlog can’t leave this place, unlike his fellow friends who had a Vessel ready as a backup and whose loss won’t affect the forces of the alliance much, these Legends, they were the core of the alliance, they can’t be harmed.

’Well played... whoever you are.’

So with that done, Wardlog dragged the tired bodies of his Legends away from the scene, while not long after, the armada of the Alliance ships arrived to clean up the dead and apprehend those that remained, suffering from heavy curses and unable to move or do a thing.

All falling into wonder and regret. Why did they have to get greedy?

*****

Hundreds of kilometers away from them was Wajih, his body tired as he got out of the ocean."Sir, this is some stamina potion." Came his second in command within a small bottle, which Wajih took without an issue while he looked toward the cabin and asked in a somewhat loud voice. "Laisa, tell me if we are being tracked."

The enemies were the Irba Fateh Alliance, although they had banned voodoo on the surface, those on the seas understood that was only for the lower rung of people, some strong families still practiced the art of Voodoo and it was common knowledge how dangerous Voodoo was once it comes to tracking and killing enemies from afar. Just like a Curse master.

And a voice replied. "For now, there is none... but it won’t be long before proper methods to trace us are being used." She explained, giving Wajih all he needed to know before he went silent and then said. "Then we have ample enough time. I didn’t kill any of their men and even helped them in return. Without me, those legends would have fallen." This was the truth and in a way, it was his backup in case he was traced.

Not to mention, by not killing those six, Wajih ensured that there wouldn’t be a direct pursuit by a godly being, as that being would surely cater to the safety of legends instead of pursuing the man who drained some blood out of them in return for saving their lives.

This is why, Wajih was not so worried about them, what caused him some curiosity was the figure of the man that appeared before him. An old man with glasses seemed to have looked at him for a bit before causing the chaos to unfold just after the Totem god of the alliance had left with the head.

That gaze was true horror, and for some odd reason, none of his team had seen that man beside him, nor did Wajih plan to inform them of the figure out of fear. As if he spoke of it, a figure at that level might detect it.

But the odd event that happened before had left the people on the ship a bit speechless. "So what was it?" One of the crew members asked, one of the engineers given to them by the Colgiri Merchant Guild. Usually, Wajih would have remained quiet during this, but he chose to answer considering how shaken his men currently were.

"Whoever it was, they were here for the same things as us. We don’t need to think too hard for this." With how the inventory disappeared from the ground, the intent of this being was obvious. "For now, celebrate that we survived this ordeal, and wait for the revival of that serpent, the next time it happens will be our last, it will be enough to make the merchants happy." The harvest this time was enough, they could leave the seas and go back to their homes as they wanted.

But that can’t be said in the open by Wajih, the most he showed to his men was just some scraps. And the reason for that was also obvious.

Among those that attracted the legends before, the "Third son" was not there, which meant that the bastard was collecting resources elsewhere. Which he can’t allow no matter what. This was a good opportunity, and he couldn’t leave the waters too early.

Of course, the rest didn’t know this, only the second in command who seemed to have caught on to the truth, but he didn’t speak much fearing causing stress in the crewmates. All he did was keep his mouth shut and wait for the night like he had always done till now.

And when the time came, his hand brought forward a small talisman out of nowhere, which he pressed a few times and destroyed soon after.

Actions that were seen by me. I had been following this ship for a while and had finally caught onto it. ’These people, they will be my ticket into that place.’
