Chapter 609: 9.13.2 Sir Catto
Its not like there were no methods to deal with the issue that was Rudhir. But information on those details were not in the Patriarch of the Dhuma family. And by the time he obtained it, things had already reached a level that it had entered the alien territory.
Generally using the Blood Sacrifice method on a child would also require support o a church capable of purification as well as some extra sacrifices that would take place of the family member’s that were enjoying the protection of this sacrifice.
But if they kept killing over a dozen people every time a new son is born in a town as small as there, it would be noticed. This was not a city where they would be able to find stragglers for sacrifices easily. Nor were there any priests that would purify the carrier of the curses.
Which made it so that the curse kept accumulating with each new son of the Dhumas. And it can only be called a miracle that it didn’t come to bite them back after the third sacrifice, but this process went on for nine more times before Rudhir was born.
An oddity among oddities, something that shouldn’t exist.
He was an anomaly born of curses. A curse capable of absorbing other curses into its body and make it its own without devouring it. That was the absurd ability that had fascinated a powerful mage like Dilbur, while scaring the Dhuma family.
And now, Farhad was dealing with this oddity himself. "This primal fire.... What is this boy?" Farhad wondered for a bit, while watching the weak boy suddenly fill with vitality as the flames completely annihilate all the changes that Farhad tried to bring to him, returning the boy to a pristine condition.
A condition where he was not a thing walking corpse anymore, but he had a rosy color on his cheeks and eyes as bright as sun which scared Farhad, as he felt his skin burning from that gaze alone.
"Fascinating, a recording of my past?" The boy spoke, as if finding the surrounding situation a tad bit insane.
But for Farhad, these words alone overwhelmed his senses, causing his entire body to rupture and bleed without showing any signs of healing. "You... what are you." Farhad mustered up his courage to speak the few words that he could while he tried to keep the flames inside his body.
"I apologize, I had been lost in my nostalgia for a bit." The boy spoke, before turning to look at causing his eyes to light up. "Fascinating, an anomaly in this day and age... your existence had been barred under the heavens, so how did one appear once again?" The boy spoke in a tone much simpler than before, not causing any harm to Farhad this time.
But it didn’t mean that he had no intentions of doing such a thing. "But I should probably kill you, your existence is a danger to reality itself." The boy’s eyes shine with gold again, readying to annihilate Farhad right at this moment.
But before he could do such a thing, a small cat jumped between the two, which made the boy pause his actions. "You... ah, I get it. This place is a piece of her domain." The boy spoke, looking at the little cat. And then to Farhad, whose chest at this moment was hollowed out, exposing a very familiar flame inside. "Oh...’ Seeing which made the boy look at his own body and then at the cat. "Oh the Immortal Catto, did you lead him to summon me?"
The boy asked, curious for only a second before smiling. "Of course you did." He said, petting the head of the cat before looking around. "So this is where you chose to remain during the transitions period. Your master’s garden?" At those words, the cat nodded, before it made a circle with her paws and then wrote a simple word in ancient tongue that meant escape.
"Are you stuck here?"
The cat nodded at that question, which did make the boy reconsider before looking at the anomaly in front of him again. "You lucked out boy." He spoke before suddenly, the push in Farhad’s chest disappeared as the flame in his body return to its table state. But Farhad on the outside remain immobile, his body too burnt to even move anymore.
Though that didn’t stay for long, as for the first time, the flames that had constantly tried to burn his flesh were slowly helping him recover his flesh. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Farhad regained his body in a matter of seconds.
But even then, he didn’t move, he remained in his place just because of one reason.
’The flames heed his call... this past, this cursed child.’ As his thoughts coalesced together. The voice of the boy came from his front. "You thought correct, I am him, the First Knight of this world... though I hope that you keep what happened here a secret, as it would be embarrassing for me, if the world were to learn that a fledgling totem tried to impart his blood to me, turning me into his knight." The boy laughed, letting Farhad know that his suspicions were correct.
This in front of him was none other than the First Knight, the man that alone destroyed the curse apocalypse on his own and started a path of transcendence of Knights.
A being that even Gods fear.
And now, that being was right in front of him and even held the intention to kill him not too long ago. Which made Farhad appreciate the little cat that stood in front of him, if not for it, he would have died today.
"Sir, it’s my honor to meet you." Farhad didn’t bow down like one does in front of a God, but he in his inhuman body did a proper Knight’s salute, which the First Knight appreciated a lot. "I guess it makes sense that you carry the traces of my Chosen on you. She must have rubbed on you." He spoke with some kindness before looking at the cat. "Sir Catto, your habit of picking weird ones hasn’t stopped even now... " He spoke while shaking his head and then asked. "Are you sure you will wish to leave this garden?"
The boy asked, looking around the flowers only he can see. "This is the last trace that remains of her" The boy asked, which made Catto wonder for a bit, tilting its head in some consideration before it nodded and made a small gesture with its paws that said. "The time is neigh, I wish to return." Which did make the boy smile for a bit. "Then as you wish." It spoke before a petal came into the boy’s hand which slowly turned into a small bell. "The exit totem, you lost it didn’t you?" He spoke with a laugh before getting to the cat’s level and carefully binding the bell on the Cat’s neck.
"Boy, consider yourself lucky to be chosen by Sir Catto." Rudhir, or one should now call him the First Knight spoke. "Attracting his eyes means you carry the fate of the world on your shoulders... even if you are an anomaly." He spoke feeling a bit of nostalgia. Which made him pluck his hand in a certain direction, where he caught a flower containing a small world inside it. "I will be taking this one with me." He spoke to the cat, which nodded in agreement. And then turned into ash right at that moment.
"Huh?" Farhad wondered for a bit and the found that there was a weird drop of blood where the boy was just now.
A blood that shone in Golden Light, which made Farhad feel some pain. Making him want to stay away from it. But the cat, which stood beside him pointed at Farhad and then pointed at the blood, gesturing in proper present day language to pick it up.
"Sure sir Catto?" He still finds it absurd that this cat was treated as a holy figure by the First Knight.
"I... I met the First Knight." Farhad said, still finding this absurd for a bit. "Sir Catto that was the First Knight right?’ Farhad asked, looking at the cat, which tilted its head in confusion and then nodded.
"Ho, I really met him... the strongest being to ever walk the earth." There was a smile on his face as Farhad found a small container in the Dhuma household and put the golden blood into it before pocketing it.
As for the Cat?
It climbed on Farhad’s back, pointing towards a certain direction. With its intention clear. It was going to move with Farhad from this point on.
Which Farhad didn’t mind. This Sir Catto was obviously old and knowledgeable about the world, which meant that Farhad finally has a source to learn what this place was and many more things.
But that was not on Farhad’s mind at the moment. ’So the First Knight had a past like this?’ He recalled the commonly known story and the things did match somewhat, though the details were far more cruel than he had expected. Not to mention, the personality of Rudhir and First Knight was far different from each other.
Same person at different peaks of their life. Which showed two entirely different beings to him. ’And this flame in me was sued as catalyst.’ The flames of Samadhi were a creation of the First Knight, though there is a story where the First Knight stole a part of the Flame of purification and modified it into the Flames of Samadhi. Well whatever it was, it carried the trace of First Knight within it.
And when that trace met with a false version of him, the real First Knight was summoned here.
’I was led here by Sir Catto.’
