Chapter 600: 9.11.2 I miss trains.
There was jealousy as well as hatred in the eyes of this woman, but the most Farhad could notice was her dislike for him. But whatever the case was, for someone as powerful as him, the hate of such a lower creature wouldn’t be much of an issue on his end if he put his mind to it. So Farhad chose to ignore her after a bit of small talk.
It wasn’t long before the rest of the family members arrived, and as he had expected, most of them didn’t carry any sort of curse energy or even corruption on their bodies, which meant that unlike their workers as well as the majority of the citizens, these bunch lived pretty much without an issue.
But obviously, if everything was right, he wouldn’t be called here. "With the exception of my older brothers and the head of the family, everyone is here." Spoke with the youngest of the Dhuma siblings. There were brief introductions of the family members, though mostly the wives of his brothers as well as some notable children, all of whom looked pretty good from Farhad’s perspective, which made him ask. "I wonder what is it that you need Mister Yash, everyone I see is free from any sort of corruption," Farhad asked.
"Well, we called you because not everything is right... can you take a closer look?" It would seem that the man was too embarrassed to speak of what the issue was, he wanted to make sure that Farhad could at least find the problem before exposing the struggles their family had to go through.
Only those who can detect the issue will be able to cure it, to begin with. So if Farhad can’t do it, there was no reason for them to explain the issue.
And Farhad’s first words did cause some concern among the family, but none dared to say a word.
Meanwhile, Farhad acquiesced to the request. Although he can’t detect the issues through the vitality of these individuals alone, there is no reason for him to ignore the request. ’The answer to this dream or whatever it is should be here.’ Farhad treated it as a quest. This whole experience felt odd and the only way to escape from it might be to solve the issue in this place.
This is why Farhad went for a child who was not too far from him and asked the boy to present his arm. "Don’t worry, nothing will happen to you," Farhad spoke, letting slight flames escape from his skin and reach the boy’s palms. Although he had wished for nothing to happen, something did happen. ’The flames reacted.’
The flames grew in size, scaring the mother of the child who tried to run to him while shouting, but Farhad calmly spoke. "No harm will come to the child, I am cleansing him. Look, the boy isn’t even feeling a little bit of pain." Farhad spoke, looking toward the child who at first was scared, before suddenly turning fascinated. And when asked by Yash if he felt any pain. The only answer Yash received was. "It feels warm."
It wasn’t long before the flames encompassed Yash’s whole body and then slowly returned to Farhad’s body. "It was a bit unexpected, but your family really seems to suffer from some ailment I am ignorant of."
"But the means at my hand seem to eradicate the issue without the need for any further investigations." The means he used belonged to the Radiant Order, the Flames of Samadhi were created to deal with spiritual corruption and freeing the dead from the distortion caused by curses. Freeing them from the mortal world.
It was even capable of dealing with godly beings and was once used to cremate countless fallen angels and totems during the Curse wars long ago.
So for a legendary flame like this, it didn’t struggle at all in front of the odd curse that might exist in the boy’s body.
"You did it?" Yash asked, curious as he picked up the boy to check that he wasn’t harmed by the flames. "I can’t say that I did anything, all I can is that I burned off the stain that the boy carried. For now." Farhad explained before looking to others in the room. "I could help some more if you explain what the symptoms are, I might as well help you deal with the problem at the source," Farhad spoke, but his words were cut off by the old woman who spoke.
"He is just here to get dirt on our family, don’t listen to him, that flame and everything else is just an act." The old woman was none other than the Curse Meister who was employed by the Dhuma family. And seeing what Farhad did, which was virtually nothing more than playing with illusions, she couldn’t help but sneer at the absurdity that Farhad just exposed her to.
’Neither sacrifice nor any new curse... not even god’s power. And he dare claim to eradicate a curse without using any catalyst?’ Purging a curse without a sacrifice was unheard of. And this man, although his skin appeared rotten and ugly like a monster, there was virtually no change in his body when he used the purification, which was a sign that whatever he did was free of any cost.
And her words, well. They did do a number among these people. With some of them adopting a more defensive look when looking at Farhad. Which was to be expected, who would you believe, a woman who had been protecting their family for years, or the so-called expert that appeared like a wind and had claimed to purify their child without even knowing a thing about the curse?
"Master Warnan, please don’t be hurt by the words of our Protector, she has rarely held her tongue when the family is on the line." Yash defended the old woman while trying to placate Farhad, who in truth felt nothing towards those comments.
Instead, he looked at the woman and then others with a curious look, before saying. "Then let’s do this, a break should suffice. Whatever issues you are suffering from, if the boy is free of it, you can call me again, and I will do purification for the rest of you, if not. Then there is no need to pay me anything for my services." Farhad was straightforward. Generally, pride would come one’s way in an institution like this. Ego’s will be hurt, and some people might take drastic actions just to keep their honor.
But Farhad had little use for those things. He preferred to deal with this issue easily and quickly. He chose to take this approach to prevent any conflict.
"Well, if you say so." Yash ended up accepting my offer, not like he is losing anything on his end. This is where the conversation ended and Farhad left with his entourage who soon suggested he go back to their place of stay. But Farhad refused. "I will explore a bit more, help those in need." Well, the quest was on pause for a bit, so why not explore this place a bit?
Farhad soon did, helping those he encountered and exploring the limits of this dream. But to his surprise, the whole city was perfect, emulated in here. ’What is going on?’ Dreams have issues of their own. Due to forming subconscious thoughts of the living, they have odd mistakes, even if it’s a complete copy of a memory.
But there were none here. Except for finding a few corpses in odd places, there was virtually nothing wrong with this reality.
As for touching those odd corpses? Well, nothing happened when Farhad eventually did end up touching them.
He had expected that he might be brought to a new reality if he did it, but virtually nothing happened besides earning a few odd gazes from the people who followed him. To them, these corpses didn’t exist in their eyes. ’This is not an escape then... I have to deal with the issue first.’ Farhad looked toward the direction of the Dhuma family before finally choosing to return to his housing.
An expensive inn with some of the most bland food that Farhad had ever eaten. ’Salt is expensive here.. Huh.’ This told enough that Farhad was in an inland area, and without the transportation means brought by railways, it was much harder to transport goods like salt to deeper parts. This is why most here ate mountain salt, which was a luxury good.
’A day of this.’

The next day, Farhad got ready for his outing again. Calling his butler cum guide. "Ashwin, did you hear anything from the Dhuma household yet?" Farhad asked, curious if there had been any updates.
Which there were from the looks of Ashwin’s face, and the news was not good."Nothing changed and the criticism for Sir Song the family had been stronger than before... while you were sleeping, I don’t know how the matter was exposed, now even the people in the streets are privy to your..." Ashwin didn’t speak more than this, but Farhad can expect what the word was.’Failure huh.’
"Bring me to them again..."

This village, and its people were more durable than I had expected. "I apologize for this." This time, I used suffocation to kill my target, freeing the body to my possession. But the issue still remained.
"Demon, why can’t you die?" Spoke the old Curse Wielder, or should I say Meister in this day and age. "I already am dead, so no need to keep asking me to die once again."
