Chapter 548: 8.13.7 Jester is in love.
It was a sad scene, more so for Jasper, who hadn’t seen Remira so low since her escape from Yethel, where she had blamed herself for the lives she destroyed by her actions, specifically of Number Two, whose name she hadn’t learned till now.
Though Jasper didn’t consider it bad at that time, because Number Two gave Remira a reason to live forward to, she hoped to one day save Number Two with her own two hands.
Of course, the things that happened later broke such dreams and made Remira more driven and irrational when dealing with certain situations.
’We should have stopped her.’ Jasper never understood the details of how Remira got to learn about Malidi and Jester’s connections, but it did create some problems when Remira initially learned about it.
"He was the first to meet him a mere tool in front of that man, maybe, he might know a way to deal with him." Was her belief, though the likes of Majodhar had stopped her.
He even went as far as to ban Remira from meeting the old retired Knight Alabasta, who was Grand Knight Vance’s teacher. The reason is that any word of Jester might cause some issues to the mental state of the old knight. It’s better to not overstimulate his mind.
But who could stop Remira, who was now a Chosen? And with the agreement of Vance as well as the increasing influence of Hawking Ziegart in the Order, the ban on Remira lost all meaning and she found herself in front of that old relic.
Knight Alabasta.
As for what happened later on? Jasper is not aware of it, as, by that point, he had been too busy with his regular job which further worsened since Ziegart took over. But what he can ascertain is the actions of Remira after the meeting.
"We have to find him." For one reason or another, Remira concluded that in order to defeat Jester and his machinations completely, she had to find Malidi and with the harm Jester had caused in the recent year not only to the Radiant Knight’s reputation but also to the many tragedies.
There was a certain push among the Radiant Order who were aware of his existence to find a way to deal with him fast. And it might be due to ignorance that they thought the best way was to look for Malidi, unaware of the danger it possessed.
But it’s not like Jasper didn’t understand this specific point. The current Yethel was encased in an obsidian cage, one couldn’t see what was happening inside which made it harder for most people to predict their next steps.
As for dealing with Jester? You should forget about it.
"This is why I warned you," Jasper said, sitting close to Remira as he looked at her face with a long sigh. "Speak Captain, what did you see? What happened out there?" Jasper started his counseling.
Though he barely got a response on his end, it didn’t mean he was defeated.
"Captain Remira, I understand that you don’t seem to be in the state to answer my questions, but if wonder if you would allow me to see it?" He asked, and with the simple fluctuations he felt from Remira, Jasper understood that he had been given a passage.
And he did go in, though the methods he used were archaic and filled with restrictions. He was not like a jester, he was just a more powerful Mystic who could see past the material world, and that’s it.
He had no way to pierce the protections of the mind without the will of his target. Which Remira gave him.
Even then, the things he could see were little, but it was enough for him to get closer to Remira’s psyche and understand her feelings as well as share the memories and thoughts of the tragedies that Remira witnessed and might have taken part in.
She felt guilt for it all. This misery was all created by her.
Scenes that even turned Jasper’s face sour.
This went on for two hours before Jasper got up and left Remira. "Done so early? Is she better than before?"
Asked the Vice-captain of the Rudrain branch of Radiant Order, to whom Jasper could only shake his head and explain. "Things are much worse than I would have anticipated, it might take time this time." Further details were not necessary as Jasper was someone who believed in patient confidentiality, otherwise one would dare to come to him if the Knight’s deepest darkest secrets were to leak from Jasper’s mouth.
The Vice Captain was well aware of it, so he didn’t question it, all he asked was for the least amount of time till Remira recovered. To which Jasper can only reply with. "Mind is more unpredictable than sensitive... I can’t rush things, nor can I give you an appropriate time. But don’t worry, until she is back to normal, I won’t leave Rudrain and take care of her." Spoke to Jasper, who after being shown the way to a new office of his got to work the very night.
Meeting with the new patients who had the fate of helping with the rescue operations in the southern district, made them see some harrowing scenes.
Things are not healthy for the feeble-minded.
As for Jasper, who was forced to witness such scenes first-hand due to his patients, even his mind suffered strain after a certain point, which finally forced him to take a break and rest.
Or so many had believed.
"She keeps failing, her mind is not strong enough." In a world of his own surrounded by dream bubbles and the starry night sky over his head, a young man with dark hair and hollow eyes sighed at fate.
"She should not be so weak... or is it really his doing?" The man’s face distorted a bit, causing his hollow eyes to tear wider and as if nothing happened, his eyes returned to the calm of before. "No, blaming the weak for my mistakes is not correct. He is innocent in this, it’s just my methods that need an upheaval."
"But he is being a nuisance, always causing trouble and harming my beloved, but I can’t treat her with kindness... she needs to get up herself, and find a way to deal with issues herself." The man appeared confused, holding certain feelings of Remira that he hadn’t dared to voice out in the open ever in his life.
However, this also showed that there was much more to this man than appeared on the surface. "Guess I am left with no choice... I just need to make sure I am not caught by those things.’ The man spoke, before looking toward the starry sky, which appeared much different than the night sky of the real world. "Don’t worry my lady, I will make sure that your will is brought to reality."

"Hmm, hmm hmph!" A dwarven boy walked the streets of Yethel with a gleeful smile.
His eyes were sharp, his body fit and his steps a tad bit girly. Anyone who sees this dwarven boy would think that something is wrong in his head.
Which was as close to the truth as possible.
"Ho ho ho!. Walking on dream~~ How can I explain! Talking to myself." He sang a song he heard recently. A song he loved to sing whenever he had free time, something that the boy had less and less of since his enslavement.
But it didn’t mean he was destitute or hopeless over his losses. He remained a Jolly old boy who made others around him unnerved.
"It’s not every day you prance around like a girl, am I to assume something good happened today?" Vegal asked, curious over why his boss, that fucking monster was prancing around like a girl at this moment.
"Of course, something did happen... I finally fell in love with Vegal. I finally know what it feels like to be in love." Crow spoke, making expressions that disturbed the mind of Vegal. "You... in love?"
"Do you find it odd? That a dwarf like me can find love?"
"You..." Vegal wanted to curse Jester even if he was his boss. Is jester a dwarf?
No, he was a homunculus in a false body that was not his own. He was a monster and nothing more.
But Vegal didn’t voice out his thoughts as he understood what might have happened at this time.
"Then let’s celebrate, how about some beer as you tell me about this love of yours." Spoke to Vegal, understanding well enough of what happened to the jester and why he was acting this way.
Because this was not the first time he had seen this happening. And this is not the last time it will happen.
’Lord Emotion is having his fun these days.’ Jester his own boss had long been enslaved by the leaders of this nation, the very people he was working for as well. Though his treatment in this place was much better than his own boss. At least he was not forced to become like this.
As for voicing his thoughts? Vegal knew better than to speak his thoughts in front of people like this. He still wished to have a long life.
