Chapter 546: 8.13.5 The tragedy that couldn’t be prevented.

Of Team One, only three were present in this room.

Owl, the leader of this team, Gazelle brought the information from Rudrain and the disaster that incapacitated the nation.

This was not something that could be suppressed or hidden easily, and part of the world had already started to make fun of Cynark and its inability to protect its own capital. Which many find odd considering the amount of force that Cynark had control over.

But with their last defeat at the hands of the newly rising nation of Yethel, and this terrorist attack with hundreds of thousands dead, it can be seen that Cynark was not a lion, but a scared cat with empty force.

Truth was not far from what the people were talking about.

Although Gazelle didn’t speak with the people or bothered about what was happening in the rest of the country, she could easily assume what might be happening around the world.

Owl on the other hand appeared happy with the samples as well as details that Gazelle had been able to gleam into during her outing last time. "Loyalty is all we need to care about. He can join us." Owl also came to the same conclusion that Gazelle had come to.

Much to Scart’s dismay who shut up after Owl spoke such words.

"Now Scart, this is no time to be moody, you always wanted a new little brother, and Mini will finally have someone under her... she won’t be the youngest anymore." Owl smiled in a kind tone. But Scart just slapped his hand away. She was not intending to listen.

To which Owl can only sigh at this childish behavior of his ’Brother.’

"Don’t worry Scart, he joined just a few years ago, he won’t take away Master’s interests from us. So stop fearing him." Gazelle spoke, quietly pointing out what Scart was worried about.

It was jealousy. The amount of importance that was given to Rosso by their master was only known to a few people, among which Team One was included.

"He is the last gift of our Master before he was enslaved by those traitors... it’s wrong for us to ignore him." Owl chimed in as well, understanding what his brother might be feeling at this moment. "So let’s be adults here."

Owl can’t help but recall the pain he felt after learning what had happened to his master the Jester.

Enslaved by the very people his master worked hard for, what kind of world is this? Why betray the one that is helping you willfully? For what reason?

Owl couldn’t learn of the reasons no matter what happened, and when he had tried to get closer to the truth in order to understand the situation, certain someone in the organization had warned him from digging too deeper, before handing him a couple of notes on certain plans of his master, as well as the secret of Rosso existence.

The knowledge was only meant for him as the group leader, but he had willfully shared it with his siblings because Owl understood his own limits. He was not a master planner, but someone with a wide range of knowledge and the capability of utilizing that knowledge. He always considered himself to be a grunt, never the leader.

This is why he prefers to use the group wisdom to fill in his weakness, and it has worked till now.

"I will, but only this time..." And Scart, understanding the current situation, can only agree reluctantly.

"Then call Mini, we have to find this golden child of our Master before he disappears for good."

Going back a week ago, the Dragon who had awoken after who knows how long flew out of the Cynark kingdom and directly into the seas, the place which he considered home. And it took him no more than an hour of travel. Neither tired after such a strenuous journey nor bored.

However, when his eyes fell on Rosso, he showed some disappointment. "Dead?"

The speed at which he traveled had broken and burned Rosso’s body, his limbs barely attached with his lugs being completely charred. "Oops," Dragon spoke, truly thinking that this boy was dead.

Well, that was until he saw some blood flow out of the burned and broken body and started to repair it again. "Oh, that pet has some interesting means."

The island below was one that Dragon hadn’t visited in ages, an old home of his that was unlivable for most due to the active volcano that kept spewing poisonous smoke and ashes, making all life on this island impossible.

Or so it appears from the surface, but those with insight strong enough or domain can see the true nature of this island.

"Still no one touched it yet?" Dragon spoke with a smile, before teleporting to a place only visible in his eyes.

The Island might be dead on the outside, but the situation below the sea surface was entirely different.

The Island was hollow the lower one goes, with the walls made out of volcanic rocks and a skylight made out of luminous fungus that provided the light of the sun to the flora that grew down below.

The most absurd part about it all was the fauna that grew up in it. Whether it was their diet or something else in the air, the antlers of the deer in this place lit up in a wondrous glow, which fluctuated depending on the emotions of these beasts.

The same was true for the birds that would light up like embers and then dive into flowing lava and come out with a burning worm in their mouth.

"Seems like the rabbits went extinct... I might have eaten them all the last time." At the center of this paradise was a small mansion of sorts. A mansion that once used to be Dragon’s lair with countless riches as well as servants that served him.

All Dragon found inside were bones of those that once used to serve in his body and mind. "Well, some cleaning will be required." Then he looked toward recovering Rosso before shaking his head. "No, if that man is to learn of how I treated him, he might just torture me again." Jester? He didn’t care about it.

But considering this boy was asking for Malidi, now that man is something to be feared.

To most of the world, Malidi is just a rogue scholar who dares to touch things that he shouldn’t, and hence he is wanted throughout the world, including the country of Azad. However, the truth of the matter that most don’t know about is what he had gained through his exploration.

If there is still a god walking among mortals in this day and age, it’s Malidi. Because not many people are capable of reigning Dragon in.

Though Dragon didn’t fear Malidi for his strength, what he feared were Malidi’s words that caused the other guy inside of him to submit to Malidi.

And if that guy submits to Malidi, then he can only relent.

"I know you are awake, looking for an opportunity to seal me again, but that won’t happen this time. I will be using this guy to make a deal with Malidi, instead of sealing me, he will seal you and that little runt this time." Dragon laughed, throwing Rosso to the side as he recovered, while Dragon walked to his empty palace of bones. It’s been long since he finally had control over his body. It’s been even longer since he had a good night’s sleep as well. "Well rabbits are not here, then the deer will do." He spoke as a draconic hand brought out a live Luminous deer, which was struggling in confusion.

"You guys seemed to have evolved with time, good... you will be more filling than your ancestors." With that the Deer’s head fell, followed by its organs. And then with a bit of draconic breath from his mouth, Dragon Roasted the deer with some sea salt and herbs he found in this paradise of his.

It was time to eat, followed by proper sleep.

Amir read all of what happened in Rudrain, and a tinge of guilt took over his mind. "They warned." Although the report forged the details in case of how far Amir was, which meant higher chances of information leak.

But what Amir can glean is that the losses were worse than any tragedy in recent history.

Too many innocents have died, and from what he can read into the report, some Legendaries came to blows in the city setting. ’That warning was correct.’ If such powerful beings were playing there, Amir didn’t believe he would have made a difference. The most he would have done is struggle at death’s door or die.

He understood his limits and was not blinded by arrogance.

However, the guilt remained. He wondered what he would have done differently to prevent this tragedy, though no answers came to his head, which made him read the report further. "Huh?" And then he noticed an odd line.

’The incident caused the relationship between the Church of Red Sun and Truthful Deceit to strain?’ It was an odd line that didn’t have any relation with what was written in the report above. However if one were to read between the lines, one can gleam what might have caused such problems between the two parties. ’Some people chose to take advantage of the situation. But which side?’

Well whatever the case was, Amir understood that he wouldn’t make any real progress by just sitting here.

He needs to visit the capital. He needs to see the devastation with his own eyes and learn the details of why this happened and how it all happened.

Maybe, just maybe, he can find a way to prevent such tragedies from repeating in the future.
