Chapter 476: 7.22.4 Centipede feast.

In the Blood Crow family, to retain their bloodline supremacy and prevent the spread of their blood, the family only allowed the worthy to survive the Blood ban after one turns fifty. Among those, the exemplary retain the right to hold the title of a Prince, while others will be relegated to either work in ministry or be forced into the military.

This is how they maintain hegemony over their country as well as their bloodline.

Or so they say, but it’s common knowledge that most who face the blood purge are the branch bloodlines of the Blood Crow Family. At the same time, the main family due to their resources, always maintains superiority in each of their generation, making them almost immune to the blood ban ceremony.

And that’s how it was for most of Blood Crow’s existence. The main family or the direct family of the Emperor never suffered in their life, until a small child from the branch Family with the middle name Wortham appeared.

He was considered an anomaly since childhood.

Although there were some rumors that he appeared in the Wortham family out of nowhere as if conjured with magic, no one cared about it at all after a while, because the little child of Wortham’s was capable of summoning countless crows from the moment he turned three.

At the age of six, he broke through and entered the ranks of Adepts.

At the age of twenty, he became a Master.

At forty-five, he turned into a Grandmaster.

At the age of Forty-six, he killed all the children of the then-emperor with his own hands, leaving just one alive at the end of it all.

"The insignificant ones are dead... keep the blood clean." That was his order, a threat to his own uncle who could only nod in response to Wortham’s threat while sweating profusely.

It was also at that age, that Prince Wortham turned into Duke Wortham, while the cousin he spared willingly gave up his rights to the Emperor’s throne because he considered himself not worthy of it.

In truth, he was just scared of the Duke, thinking that he might suffer the same fate as his brothers who dared covet the seat while being so incapable.

The most the abandoned prince could do was give birth to his own children. A total of Four children with three sons and one daughter, among which there were twins.

All four of them were talented on their own, with one of them becoming the current emperor of Cynark, while the two twins in their own right became the spine of the country, strengthening it on all sides they could.

While the youngest daughter, she couldn’t live up to the expectations of Duke Wortham and hence was forced to go through the Blood Ban ceremony, which sealed her bloodline making it impossible for her to ever sire any children with Blood Crow bloodline.

Which was the first of its kind in its generation, as people the direct family ever really suffered from such injustice.

But what can they do? Duke Wortham, who lived for his family hated mediocrity to his bones. He won’t let anyone else sully the family name, no matter who they are.

Of course, such actions did cause some divide among the Bloodcrow family, with many complaining about the Duke in the darkness. But that’s all they could do.

They could only complain and live in fear of the Duke, who became weirder as time went by.

But his actions when it came to dealing with the "Inferior" ones in the Blood Crow family never stopped. He purged one branch after another if he considered them inferior or people who dared create new variant bloodlines from the core.

This became one of the reasons why Soros’s Family the Blood heart disappeared in history.

"I didn’t intend to startle your excellency with my hex. So I apologize." I bowed to the man, who first looked at me and them above me, toward a simple figure in robes that hid most of its body and the four heads that looked at him from the void.

But he didn’t point it out, he just smiled. "Such a fascinating creature, attaining the ranks of Totem hood so fast... seems like some god helped you. Which would mean that the rumors are true." He ignored my apology, nor did he seem fearful of my rank as a totem, which in general is at a different level of existence when compared to the Legendary Duke Wortham.

But he showed no fear or confusion, just pure interest over an existence whose tales he had only heard from others.

"Curse, nightmare, nature, death, and thievery... such bizarre rules intertwined into one body. Little God, you will make a fine specimen to my collection." He ignored my words or my will, and with a swipe of his hands, the space in front of him fractured causing me to almost teleport from my position and appear in the grab of his palm. "Ho, this body, such a fascinating machination in it, who created this? A real or false? An avatar or a Saint?" These words were not for the Jester, they were only meant for the duke himself.

In his eyes, none of what Jester spoke held any true value. He had lived for too long and hence had come to understand that when facing an enemy, most of what comes out of their mouth is lies or words that are said to cause confusion.

And the worst among them would outright waste his time.

So why even bother with speaking with the thing he already considered his own? Just drag him to his castle and deal with him there. The truth will automatically come out as long as he searches the soul of this "weak" totem.

"A body filled with mystery, I would have to thank that girl Anna. If not for her, I would have never believed in your existence." He was happy.

He was finally happy to obtain such an odd specimen in his hand. A specimen that can help him advance further in his goal.

A specimen whose value only he understood.

"It would seem you are interested in my soul?" And it was also at this moment that Jester understood the goal of this crazy bastard.

So he easily left the body and remained floating above Crow’s body. This resulted in Crow ceasing all thinking functions and turning into a living corpse, while the figure in the void with four heads materialized to the level of transparency and appeared in front of Duke Wortham, who seemed surprised over how easily I abandoned the body.

"Your existence is an oddity." It was the first time he looked at Jester clearly, and focused his attention on the dominant head, which was that of the Faceless with only lips in sight.

"I can say the same to you Duke." The figure spoke causing the surrounding space to fracture under the sound alone.

It was as if the reality itself was suppressing the sound, stopping it from reverberating further.

"Hah." Seeing that the toy in his hand had broken, he must let it fall to the ground, losing his interest in it. "It would seem I can’t capture you peacefully." He spoke and looked at me, my existence that only appeared as a Haze to him.

But he can see it clearly, my true form and the smile on my face, which appeared as a challenge in his eyes. But I used my four arms and gestured for him to stop. "Duke, if we are to fight, it might attract the attention of some annoying existences. Do you really intend to do it?"

"Don’t worry, no one will disturb us from my side... as for your side, they don’t dare step in this land unless they wish to face an end." There was a reason why The Totems and Gods didn’t move much and preferred to use proxies to do their bidding in the material world.

As for the reason, it’s better I don’t speak now, as the story will get too big.

But in simpler words, when in material words, higher-level beings rarely roam around as Jester could. And when the matters concern a foreign territory this habit of higher rank people became more visible, as they would rarely step into enemy territory unless they were outright calling for war.

But Jester’s faceless face just smiles. "Who said anything about people on my side?" As Jester spoke, the void in front of him opened, which surprised the Duke for the first time.

"The material door to the dream world?" The small hole which was only large enough to fit a human infant appeared simple for someone of Duke’s level who could create a fractured in reality.

But only he understood that this thing was not so simple.

If the duke was small enough, he could enter the world of dreams with his physical body, retaining all his strength and defenses that came with the physical body.

"He really is always waiting to end me," Jester spoke laughing at the startled Duke whose expression had finally broken.

No... there was something wrong.

Jester was thinking that he might gain a chance to escape from this place. The Duke who was startled at first suddenly punched the hole into the world of dreams and then dragged out what appeared to be a giant centipede. "A nightmare!" He smiled, looked at me, and then looked at the Centipede. "Seems like you were spared today." He spoke before devouring the giant centipede on his own.

"...."
