Chapter 407: 7.05.3 Oh, you again!!

There were three Children of God of Wine.

Harathir, Darthamir, and Murafir.

All three were considered the first of the Bloodkins or in the common lingo, the vampires. Hence, earning them the title of Progenitor.

"I have read enough books to know how dangerous the vampires were and why the Knights annihilated them... That blood, it might just be doom for my man than his chance for survival." Amir didn’t know if the blood was real or not, nor did he have any way to confirm it.

But what he did know was the stigma over the vampires and why they don’t exist in the world anymore.

Like many other races of the old, they earned the ire of Puritan gods due to their uncontrollable lust for blood and the diseases they spread among the masses.

’Vampires were the only race that could convert others through their embracing ceremony.’ Of course, the details of such a ceremony were never written in the notes. What was noted down however was the incompatibility the Bloodkin faced with the arrival of Knights.

Now their embrace didn’t seem as appealing to the common masses, specifically to the nobles. And by daring to convert some bloodlines to their own, they earned the ire of multiple gods. Making it harder for them to survive in the open.

Of course, they fought back, Specifically the middle Child of God of Wine fought with all his might, but he was taken down by none other than the First Knight, who with his might struck fear in the hearts of the remaining Vampires, causing them to go into hiding while the God of Wine.

He never dared to complain over the death of his child.

"Nothing will happen to your servant... I obtained it from the Radiant Knights."

Radiant Knights is an Order of Knights that has plagued countless nations due to their rabid nature. And an Order that Amir had never come across, but like everyone, he was well aware of their creed and habits.

And from what he understood of them, they were not the kind to give out anything dangerous to random people, specifically a person like Ludwig.

Of course, ignoring the line itself, Amir didn’t ignore the fact that these words of Ludwig were established. ’A relation with the Radiant Knights? Is this truly just mentioned to make it easier to accept this offer, or as a boast... Might be both.’

Amir believed the chance of it being both was true, as his guard against this wonder blood really dropped. However, the question still remained, why give something so precious?

"Why give it to me... it’s more useful for someone like you who has faced his fair share of life-threatening moments."

"Ho, it seems my Knight has spoken some things he shouldn’t have." There was no one in the room, only Ludwig and Amir. But Ludwig still tilts his head at a particular corner, exposing where Sarlen was hiding.

Of course, Amir had been well aware of his existence since the start, he just didn’t bother pointing it out. "Don’t worry about me Cousin Amir, that is just one of my life-saving measures." Ludwig laughed. "And if that one vial can earn me your friendship, then it’s worth it.’

Through the dialog, it was easy for Amir to know that Ludwig really needed him for something. But considering what was in the vial he held, the transaction seemed a bit too uneven.

Who in their right might give a drop of blood that can bring the dead back to life? And that too to be given to a Knight that is not even at the grandmaster Rank.

But it was soon explained by Amir why he was giving this away so easily. "It’s a relic of the old, the efficacy is not as good anymore. Why do you think the Radiant Knights would give this to me."

"Though it is powerful enough to fix that heart of your Knight."

"I still consider this an unequal transaction, unless the price I have to pay later is much greater than this."

"It’s not good to talk about payments between two cousins... and I promise that my desires as well as requests won’t bring you any harm. And you can deny them if you think they are too wrong."

"..." The conditions were too good to be ignored and to show his goodwill, Ludwig didn’t even bother making a binding contract that might have made Amir reconsider his choices. But due to all the freedom, it would be foolish for Amir to not accept this vial.

"Speak then... what is it that you want," Amir said, taking up the vial from the table and then looking at Ludwig.

’This man... who is he working with.’

Amir’s journey to the frontline was set in stone, he was eventually going to come here to gain some true field experience as well as accumulating merits for his eventual rise into the Cynark’s political world.

When he learned from that old friend of his that there was a way to save Hemant in this place, his grandfather shortened his training time and sent him ahead of the schedule, all in order to weed out the individual who might be working with Jester among the military.

But knowing that it was a royal holding the cure, things became a bit difficult and weird.

’You are unique.’ She has said to Amir. Which made Amir feel a bit better.

But knowing that another Royal might be working with Jester, his mood soured somewhat, which became the reason why he truly delayed this meeting so much.

And after this meeting, he can see it as well over how unique this man called Ludwig was.

However, the fact that he had close contact with the Radiant Knights made things a lot more complicated.

’Is he working with Jester fella or did she just divert me here to save my knight?’ The unnamed woman in the mirror, had helped him a lot of times. But he can’t tell if all of it was under the direction of that Jester fella or if was it her helping him out of her genuine concern.

And from the looks of this, this time, he can’t say for certain.

Of course, there was a way to make it all certain.

"What I want... well, that is a tough question as you see, I just needed a friend on my level to confide in... a brother who doesn’t hate me nor does he want to kill me," Ludwig spoke with a shy expression. Appearing like an embarrassed teen confessing to his crush.

But Amir didn’t buy it one bit. He knew what this man was capable of. And although he can’t ascertain how strong he was on an individual basis, the way he put this whole camp under his control was proof of his talent.

He was not weak, nor someone that should be pitied.

"I have chosen to ignore certain things in order to keep this discussion civil. So I would like it if you could answer truthfully." Amir truly had done his best to not escalate the discussion in the wrong direction by asking certain questions that would be harder for Ludwig to answer.

Like how did he learn about his Knight?

How much did he know about Amir’s life?

How long since he had been waiting for him here?

And why was he so adamant about looking for him specifically? There must be a reason.

Of course, Amir chose to remain silent in an effort to get the answer to his predicament. Which now he had, making him more free.

"I know... I understand what you mean, and I am sorry, as you had expected, I can’t answer it so soon. Not until I make sure you are someone I can confide in easily."

And Ludwig did give an appropriate answer, a genuine one that didn’t put Amir in a tough place. "Hah, just answer me... what do you hope to achieve by giving me this cure?" If he can’t learn the reason, then he is going to ask for the result that Ludwig was looking for.

A result that doesn’t care about the process, only the end goal of it all.

Through this question, Amir intended to learn what Ludwig’s true intentions were.

And unexpectedly, Ludwig’s answer ended up surprising Amir.

"I wish to become the ruler of this land."

"I feel.... Bloated." It hurt so much, it was all so confusing.

It felt so bloated.

"Excessive information is a curse."

I had merged all my souls in order to hasten my rebirth as a totem. But this reminded me of the original reason why I had chosen the dangerous option of dividing my soul, to begin with.

"Sanity... revenge... I need to keep my mind clear." I had long reached the limits over the amount of information my soul could handle and due to the wide variety of subjects I have an interest in, the knowledge I obtained was also sometimes conflicting in order to maintain proper operations, I kept the conflicting information in different souls, all in order to maintain my sanity.

"Haha... Sanity." It was a joke to begin with.

This was the real me, the one that was growing slowly in the dream world. The one that had gone completely mad with all the things I have learned throughout my life.

"Remember him... remember her.... Remember that cunt specifically." Faces that I had forgotten moved past my eyes.

Sometimes they appeared human, sometimes they appeared as monsters.

Then I saw their play on the stage, a result of my delirium, where it became harder for me to truly know what was true or what was false.

And then... then I saw him.

"You again."
