Chapter 403: 5.04.3 I wish for its end.

There have been many rebel groups that have existed in Cynark, but rarely they are ever able to produce any notable results. Usually, all these rebels and revolutionaries die in their crib, unable to grow or spread, nor holding any staying power in the public conscience which might have inspired others to take arms, because their existence has always been hidden from the public eyes.

This was understandable considering the ones who were enjoying the status quo also held immense power individually, and due to such a power dynamic, no matter how large a rebel group grows, it would be nothing more than annoyance on the part of nobles. To them, sending a small elite unit to dismantle these people is usually enough.

And the same case would have happened with the Freemen Alliance, which started as a small collective of victims from Planc Colony, who were able to escape their oppressors by following a certain being’s will.

A being that showed them out of Luthanza and led them to spread into different parts of Cynark, but most of the chosen still entered Wortham Principality, under the direction that with the pressure from Yethel on the side, there would be an easier time for them to grow.

And that’s what happened. Due to the immense amount of refugees and the plague that happened not too long ago, where entire villages were burned down to contain the virus.; There were too many downtrodden hopeless people with no future in sight.

To them, living for a day was hard, and they were confused about where to put their anger and frustrations.

So when the rebels came and spread their dogma among such hopeless people, things happened as one might have expected.

They grew at an unprecedented pace. Which caused some issues in the first month, along with certain losses during their attacks on convoys. But they learned and adapted.

And on the second month, during their attack on another convoy. "You... Can I join you?" Asked Centi, crushing the head of an adept Knight with the back of his rifle.

Which initially surprised them, wondering if this man was mad, doing all of this just for survival.

But Centi was not so stupid. He had heard the slogans and complaints this ragtag group of rebels made while attacking their convoy. And through that, he learned of their goals, which matched with his own.

’You will not be using me, I will be using you.’ The nobles were cruel to commoners, but they were even crueler to those they considered their competition.

Belonging to the state of Yezhwa, an inland state of Cynark. Lavana was born into the great Centi Family, whose bloodline was infamous for its erratic nature, causing many members of the family to suffer from mental illness from time to time.

It was a miracle that the Centi family had been able to survive for so long without any incident. But such luck doesn’t last long. During the visit of a certain noble, things get a bit heated, and it resulted in most of the adults of his family being executed, while certain talented younger members were taken in by government forces, probably in order to turn them into death warriors.

As for untalented people like Lavana, who was not even in direct line of his family?

He just ran away after giving his family one last look. He was going to have his revenge, even if it meant burning down this world for it.

"You need someone on the inside, I can do it for you." Originally his plan had been to reach high enough in the military and collect as much vital information from the military as he could before fleeing to Yethel.

But who said that he can’t hurt his country more while he is moving towards that goal of his?

"Master, you are out?" Centi bowed to Amir, appearing meek as always, a habit he had adopted in order to not attract any unwanted attention. As for the people who bullied him for his useless bloodline and nature?

Let the fools remain fools, not all bloodlines need to be good at combat.

"Did anything happen while I was out?"

"Something did happen, there was an attack on the weapon’s cache... It would seem our enemies are making a move." Centi spoke in an unsure voice, showing his lack of confidence, which is one of the reasons why Amir, who was suspicious of everyone chose to pick Centi.

Of course, there was another more obvious reason, which was the current one.

There was someone who needed to inform Amir of any notable incidents that might have happened during his busy schedule.

"Are they?" Amir wondered, before shaking his head.

The last three days with Wilhelm and his team have been wonderful.

As it turns out, he was suffering from an energy problem, and Amir’s prototype battery, although unable to hold as much energy required to run one of those mage armors, if his technology were to be adapted through magical means, Wilhelm’s current issue could be fixed.

It’s one of the reasons why Amir was forced to stay in Sector 32 for so long.

But it didn’t mean there was no gain. For one, due to his help, he got full support from Commander Faust, who only had a single request. "You have to come to our brainstorming sessions from time to time." It was not a request, but a direct order, and Amir has gleefully accepted it for one simple purpose.

During those sessions, even he got to learn a lot of things he was unaware of. Things that were not in the field of his expertise, making him even more adamant about creating his own research group, where people like him can use their collective wisdom to solve issues that have plagued humanity for so long.

And of course, due to this, Amir was a tad bit tired, so he asked Centi to lead him to the mess hall, where he enjoyed a scrumptious meal while asking. "Is the Knight still holding the fort?"

"Knight Sarlen still seems to be waiting for you. Though I can’t be certain if he hadn’t moved while I am here."

"Well, in case he still waits for me there. I would choose to visit his Master, Prince Ludwig with him. And I don’t know how long it might take."

"So if our meeting takes more than six hours, I would like you to inform Mage Inaya from Sector 32 that I might be late for work," Amir ordered, wiping his food with a napkin, before getting up.

Of course, he noticed some gazes sent his way, gazes filled with hope and envy.

One of which dared to walk to him and ask. "Prince, can I have the pleasure to serve you?" He asked, which made the tired Amir a tad bit annoyed. "I already have one... don’t bother me."

Words that held disgust which Centi was well-used to. He had known how these royals looked upon people of a lower social stature than them. To them, they are nothing more than an insect.

Or so he thought for a bit before sighing internally, as he noticed the change in the eyes of the soldier that dared to make such a request.

’They will come after me now.’ He knows that look. The look of envy mixed with jealousy.

In their reasoning, they probably thought that the Prince already had a servant, so how about making that servant disappear?

Or so they must be thinking.

Which again, was a bit annoying considering that Amir didn’t even seem to care that his words had indirectly put Centi in harm’s way.

"Oh... also, don’t let anything happen to Lavana. If I see even a single scratch on him. You will be the first to be blamed."

"Huh?"

"Huh?"

Both were confused, the soldier that dared to make such a request as well as Centi. Who was surprised that Amir was able to notice this issue so early on his own?

’Hah, just a random act of kindness... I don’t believe he is among the good ones.’

*****

"Are you sure you want to try this?"

"I am stronger than my master... more durable. So give it to me."

"I will warn you again... electricity can cause severe damage to your nervous system."

"Just do it..." With those words, the switch was brought down and current ran through my body, making me feel as if a heavy mountain had been put on my whole body.

Then there was the smell of something burning, was it my hair? Or the scales on my eel-like skin?

I didn’t know what it was, but it smelt bad.

"Do you even feel pain?"

Vegal asked, appearing worried over my injured body. But I just smiled. "Yes I can, and it’s pretty enjoyable, as always."

The battery was a success after my teacher Mage Adam joined the project and started to give his own insight into the matter. Of course, the motor situation was still not solved. And most of the electricity that currently ran through me was created with some magic. Making it all the more inefficient for the dreams that Amir held.

But none of that mattered to me, who was only using this tool to aid me in my transformation to an eel, which was easier considering I had tried to copy a simple carp fish just to breathe underwater.

And the eel was a direct upgrade over it. Which is a singular weakness.

Which was that I lacked an understanding of how to mimic an electric eel’s core feature. Which was electricity itself.
