Chapter 399: 7.03.3 My Great Master.
Brutality was a trait absent from the original being known as Farhad. But as time went by carrying the memories of his past life. Some things became easier in his eyes.
Killing is one of them.
"I don’t know who you were speaking about, but I bet they suffered." Farhad’s understanding of the world has skewed since his experience in Durum. Followed by some conflicting emotions where self-hatred and desire to kill always fought among themselves.
The only reason he had been able to maintain his sanity might be due to his family and need for revenge. A false sanity in my eyes, as Farhad was just denying his reality and Remira supported that false reality by making sure that Farhad could never get to grow up.
But the moment Farhad fell in Jester’s hand, things changed. He got the chance to grow and accept the monster that had been inside of him all this time.
A monster that surfaced for a while on the ship and was going to show its true form whence they landed, which was also the moment when he would have a feast of the kind that he hates on moral grounds, but it would be a lie to say that he didn’t find it fulfilling.
As for the taste? Farhad never tasted anything. Most of the feeding was done by his arms, absorbing the nutrients of his victims, leaving an empty husk.
"Ple... Ki..." And this time, this empty husk was kept barely alive.
This was done intentionally on Farhad’s part, who then got up from the ground while using Labhan’s clothes to cover his face from the sun. "Don’t think that your misery will end so soon. You have to answer for all your crimes." There was no way Farhad was going to kill a military officer, no matter how much he infuriated him, or how right it was.
Because by doing such a thing, he would be overstepping his boundaries, which the Military might not appreciate much. Not to mention, killing this man would only harm him in the long run.
"You... what are you?" In came Perseus, covered from head to toe in the blood and flesh of his victims and looking almost demonic. But even he found the sight in front of him devastating.
"I already told you who I was... just say my name to your superior, and they will know who I am..." Confidence that he once lacked was oozing out of Farhad. He has seen much and experienced a lot more.
And it’s through this experience that he knows, that being uncertain and or fearful will always make your opponents question your claims. They will consider you a liar no matter what, but with enough confidence, you can turn even a lie into reality and change the minds of those around you.
This included Perseus. Who after a bit of contemplation, nodded. "You spared him, why?" He then asked, wiping the blood and guts from his face.
But Farhad just smiled. "Killing him will end the matter right at this moment, people will just use him as a scapegoat and the Royal behind him would never be caught."
"That will happen even if he lives... we would never get an answer out of his mouth," Perseus said, walking close to the pitiful Labhan, before stepping on his throat and crushing it all together. Which made Farhad nod after some contemplation.
What Perseus said is correct, people like Labhan should probably be under heart magical contracts, so it’s generally believed that it’s impossible to gain any answers from people like him.
But then, Farhad saw an even odder scene. "But the contract might not exist at soul level." Perseus took out a small vial, which he filled with some of the blood from fallen Labhan.
Blood that glistened in white light, as if some magic was infused into it. But Farhad knew that things were not as simple as they appear to be. "How many of such wonderful artifacts do you possess?" Farhad couldn’t help but wonder about such a question.
This was the first time he met someone in the position of not only a protection charm but even a soul catcher. And from the looks of it, this was not the end of the treasure that was in the hands of this person.
"Just so you know, my Master is someone who grew up surrounded by death all the time. So the moment he gained some capital he did his best to collect some life-saving artifacts of such kinds."
"And the ones he has no use for, he gives it to his Knights, like me."
"Your master?" Farhad asked, confused. Thinking this man was just some simple Master level Commander Figure.
But no, from the looks of it, things were not as simple. And when thinking hard, Farhad recalled something. "This man said that the person behind him is also royal... is your master?"
"A Prince of this nation, but a bit different from the kind of Prince you have in your mind." Perseus appeared proud of his master and seemed even playful as he spoke such words. Urging Farhad to ask who this master of his was.
A stark contrast from the mood before. This also went to show that the personality of this man called Perseus was not as serious as he appeared before.
As for his strength?
Farhad knew for sure that he couldn’t defeat this man, not without using his flames at least. And this is without knowing the nature of this man’s bloodline or what supernatural abilities he possessed.
As one should not forget, he took out multiple soldiers where some Knights were involved without even using his Bloodline transformation that a Knight gains while entering the Master Rank.
Making him almost like a monster. "We should move, I want to know if my companion is fine or not." Her safety was of no concern to Farhad.
If these people were to deal with Remira while they were in the cave, then there should be some signs of battle during the moment they walked out of the caves.
But there was none, which meant that Labhan probably sent Remira elsewhere to prevent another stronger individual on the side of his enemies, which meant another variable that might cause some accident.
Then there was the fact that Remira was poisoned, or so had told these people, so to them, she might not be a threat. Which they might have bought into considering Farhad has always been protecting Remira as if she were a flower in a jar.
But Farhad knew that Remira even with her limited strength would still have taken a few lives before falling down.
But considering none of those things happened, it only meant that Remira was fine and probably someplace else.
As for where? Farhad thought that it wouldn’t be that hard to find.
"The ones that went into the cave with us, do you think they also work for Labhan?" Farhad asked while coming back to the site of carnage, where some soldiers who were inside the cave were already looking around in ear and confusion.
Some were even so scared that they aimed their weapons at Farhad and Blood covered Perseus instantly, asking in confusion... "You monsters... why kill them."
"They are innocent..." Perseus answered Farhad before going there and calming the soldiers down before explaining what happened there.
An explanation that scared them even more, as they understood that if not for their Commander dealing with these traitors on his own on time, the next to be ambushed and killed while walking out of the cave entrance might have been them.
As for Farhad, he stayed on the back, covering his face with Labhan’s uniform which stood out in the eyes of surviving soldiers, some of whom even wondered if Farhad had cast a spell on their commander, causing him to misunderstand the situation.
But out of the desire to live for longer, none dared to speak of such contemplations, or they might just turn into mush like their companions around them.
’Yes, let’s just go to the encampment.’
That is the only place these soldiers will feel safe again.’
As for Remira, due to her senses, it didn’t take long for her to notice that something bizarre was going on, and she had crushed the soldiers in the truth, along with one of the adept Knight all on her own, before driving the truck back to the site.
"You... Did you kill any of them?" The blood and guts covered Perseus asked in some panic. But Remira just denied it, finding the scene a bit absurd. "I only gave them a beating for not listening to me."
It’s not like she was in the wrong, there was obviously something wrong, which can be proven by the fact that Labhan had tried to assassinate Perseus and blame Farhad for it.
On the other hand, after a bit of discussion, she couldn’t help but say. "This country has turned rotten." A simple comment displayed her disappointment in this place, in this whole land.
"Few rotten apples spoil the bunch. It’s what happened here, and I am sorry for the ugliness you suffered. But complaining alone is never the right answer."
On the truck, after picking up the abandoned and injured soldier who sent accusatory glances at Remira, the group had a small discussion, considering Perseus had no more reason to be suspicious of these two individuals.
Truth can be confirmed later anyway.
"Then what is the right answer?"
"Of course it’s my Master, Prince Ludwig Von Bloodheart."
