Chapter 367: 6.08.3 Join me.
You can never look down on anyone in this world.
Even insects can come back as monsters if fate wishes for it. Including a Curse wielder with the name of Paradi.
’Finding me among the jungle so fast. He is useful.’ I didn’t know how he did it, or what sort of curses was at play here. But Paradi had my interest.
"There." He shouted, causing his men to turn towards me and shoot without a single word. The only one that took a while to react was Jed, who was new to the party and still not in sync with others.
"Uac~~" Like a monkey, I jumped around and cried in fear while running away. Making sure that others saw me properly.
"It was a monkey?" Jed wondered before he ordered one of his men to go there and check up on the area. But all they found was some blood and nothing more. "Seems injured. How about we make some monkey porridge tonight? I am bored with eating rations." Said the guard, intending to go deeper and look for me.
But with one look from Paradi, he turned around and joined back with his team. "Reni come to me for a minute," Paradi ordered Reni, who can be considered a veteran in this trade with years of experience.
Which made Jed a bit envious. Reni was the same as him, an apprentice Knight. No, one should say that he had better potential, a future where he could go a step further and reach the same level as Paradi. But Paradi lacked trust in him, and hence his pay was lower than that of Reni.
One can see from the simple fact that Paradi called Reni instead of him.
"Was that really a monkey?" Being called here after such an order, it was easy for him to see what his boss Paradi was thinking. And as he expected, Paradi nodded. "Though it’s hard to ascertain if it’s a monkey or not, I can say for sure, that thing holds interest in us."
"Did Garam sold us out?" Garam was this district’s security officer and enjoyed a cut of the slaver’s earnings as long as he would provide them a safe passage to their hidden dock.
And through this whole district, Garam was the only one to have an inkling over what they were doing here. So it was normal for Reni to suspect him at first.
"He can be or he might not be. For now, stay on guard and kill that monkey on sight." With the discussion over, Reni went to Jed and explained to him a simplified version of the suspicions, which made Jed a bit uneasy.
"Hey, are you sure you gave him enough money? What if this is his trick of wanting more?"
"That is Mister Paradi’s issue. All we need to do is keep watch over that monkey, or anything of similar size. Only strike when you are sure you can kill it." There is no need to strike prematurely and scaring away that weird monkey away. Or so Reni thought, while Jed fell into his own world.
Wondering if choosing this line of work was right or not.
’I was going to face danger in this line of work one day or another... it can’t be worse than what my father did to me.’ He recalled his past, how his father personally broke each of his bones before throwing him in jail.
On the other hand, I was licking the injury on my arm with a closed eye.
I know the direction they are moving to and once I find them, it will be easy to find them again.
The issue was that Paradi. ’Is it a curse? Or a method developed through a curse?’ I wondered as Paradi had attracted my attention.
Even godly figures overlook me due to the body I have built using Krotu’s body. So how did this Paradi was able to detect me? Well, I do know that there are no limits to the influence of a curse, and they act closer to errors in the world.
’That technique, I need it so I can crack it and make it mine.’ It will be useful to my children and also help me strengthen my personal defense.
’So no change in plan, Paradi remains alive, the other twelve, all of them will face death.’

Night arrived and the security around the camp was tighter than anything the slaves had ever witnessed.
Fed with food that was mostly just built gruel, they huddled together, away from two weak figures who each sat in a corner, without a bowl of food.
It’s why, when others were enjoying the little food they had, these two were sleeping, in an attempt to conserve their energy.
But with how things are going, these two won’t survive for long.
It’s where I enter the scene.
With a single push from me, the dreams of the two children merged. A dream in which one was living with his family that sold him not too long ago, and the other was running from a goal beast-like dog.
A dog burst the door of Jinana’s house, startling her family who soon became the dogs’ food. While Lasal, the boy that has led the dog into her home dragged Jinana out of the scuffle, while the dog remained occupied with Jinana’s family.
"Mummy..." She cried, but Lasal didn’t stop, he remained adamant and moved like a machine away from the death cries from his back. "Live, I have to live... we have to live." He kept repeating like a machine, unaware of the girl he had caught in his hand. A confused girl who didn’t understand what was happening.
"No... no.. I have to save mummy, she..’ The girl named Jinana struggled once more, even dragging Lasal down with her, as her single move made it possible for the beast to reach them. "No... how?" Her body trembled in fear, as the beast lunged at her.
But Lasal, the boy who had dragged her stood still for a bit and then pointed at the Dog. "You are not him." He said, pointing at me.
"This is the third time this has happened." My body stopped right in front of the fearful Jinana, who was white as a ghost. "She is weak-minded, and will need some training."
"As for you? Your potential is immense." I said to the boy, who just turned his head in confusion.
But this was enough. A simple test was the most I could do in this place.
Then first licking the boy to wake him up from his stupor, I did the same with the girl. A single lick to give her clarity back. "What is this?" She asked in a panic, whale looking at my figure. A giant dog that looked closer to a whale in size.
As for Lasal, there was not much change in his emotions, but I could hear the questions the boy thought up in his head, as the dog that was the oddity here. If one were to look around, they would find a listed world built upon memories of both of their minds. Causing a chaotic world to unfold.
And I held full control of this world.
"Congratulations children, you were just chosen for a greater future... well you just barely passed," I said looking at the girl, who still remained in confusion.
Before I explained to them where we were. "A dream? None of this is real?"
"We still remain prisoners of slavers... this man is here to save us? Are you not?" Lasal’s words were more thought out than Jinana, who seemed more emotionally driven than the boy.
"I only came here to capture the captain of the slavers and kill the rest..." I told them my intentions. How the slaves be given freedom when I am done and the two can also enjoy such freedom?
"You two are talented, one more than the other. So I can give you a great chance. A chance to gain strength to do whatever you wish." I said to the boy and then to the girl I said." A chance to live a life of luxury if you so desire, in return for work of course."
"You intend to kill the slaves? Is that the freedom you are talking about?" The boy asked again as if expecting me to be some truly evil entity, which he was not wrong about. "I won’t touch them, meaning, I won’t stop if they kill each other over food after I leave. They can die of starvation for all I care."
Harsh words, but this kind of specificity is needed when I’m recruiting someone as mute as Lasal. A boy who seemed to hold too many thoughts in his head all at once.
"I... if you can save me. Then I agree." Jinana was the first to give in. The world of dreams already made her understand that if she were to join this existence, then her future might not be as mediocre as the rest of her family, who sold her into slavery.
No, she would be greater than them, She would become someone so strong and influential, that her family would regret the day they sold her.
’Such a simple mind... she would never see her family again.’ I shook my head at the ignorance. Let her dream whatever she wishes for, once reality hits, she will obviously abandon such childish thoughts.
As for the boy Lasal. He looked at me while turning his head in a creepy manner. "Show me your true body." He didn’t seem that surprised by the magic world of dreams I showed him. No, it would seem he was too used to it.
’I will enjoy his memories when I am free with this job.’
I said, as my body turned to that of a young man carrying the face of Farhad. "I have forgotten my face, so this should suffice."
