Chapter 360: 6.06 Stupid Grandson.
Since those things fell in the factories, the expected chaos didn’t arrive. Instead, Sheva was forced to run the moment Mehmet’s War Fortress appeared in the sky. Making her abandon any thoughts of completing the mission and instead, she rushed out of Luthanza as fast as she could.
Things have escalated outside of her level, she can’t act like a wild beast under the eyes of legendarily, so she abandoned the mission, knowing that it is impossible for her to produce any results.
But it didn’t mean that she would return empty-handed. A bit of Tomfoolery to show her skills was needed.
’If not the target, then we create a new target on our own.’ She said, looking at the railway tracks, which were now considered the lifeblood of a country.
They were vital for a healthy economy as they were the fastest and most efficient way to transport goods from one place to another in a few day’s time without delays. Which connected the divided lands of Cynark and made it easier to manage the lands.
So what if the lifeblood of this giant country were to be harmed?
That’s what Sheva was here for. After confirming her ideas with Jester, she gladly gave her an apology as well as a green light over her plans. Sheva did as was expected of her.
"3 days, this operation will go for three days, and we will never target a Passenger train, only the ones carrying any important material." Sheva knew that time was limited and the response from Cynark might be too much out of control. So she set a time limit. Then planned a simple operation by first mapping out the railroads, and assessing the perfect spots to cause the maximum damage to the supply lines.
A simple annoyance considering the war hasn’t begun yet.
Or so Jester claimed. But knowing how the first to be attacked were arms facilities of Luthanza that was neighboring Wortham, the answer was clear in her eyes. War has already arrived, and it won’t be long before it all explodes on the frontline.
So by destroying the supply lines before war hit, the pressure on the front would lessen as Wortham would be forced into passive due to lack of resources.
Isn’t that just perfect?
"Now." As the cargo train reached the tracks, an explosion came, causing the train to derail to destroy its surroundings as the trolleys stacked on each other under the momentum, causing the coal that it was carrying to spread outward.
And it won’t be long before that too catches fire. But Sheva was in no mood for this.
"Three days, now move.’
Three days was the maximum time she could give to this mission, more than that and there is a high chance of being found out. So she was fast in her action, much to Jester’s contentment.
******
Well, if truth was to be told, Jester never anticipated Cynark to move their war fortress to Luthanza. It sounded dangerous even now, considering the nation of Azad was as unpredictable as Jester.
But what happened has happened. The fact that they moved their greatest weapon was proof enough that Yethel’s most recent attack was threatening to them.
As for using this as a chance to attack the fortress?
Jester believes that "she" is not stupid enough. She got the results she wanted and that should be it. Anything more and she might just hand the newly created missiles to Cynark. Considering Three Legendary beings who sat atop the fortress. Each possesses a domain that can easily deal with a mortal weapon like a missile.
A weapon that could rival the attack of gods. But very limited in scope once the enemy understands their true function.
But enough about missiles.
"First the attack on factories, now the railway lines... It really feels like we are at war."
"But with whom?"
"Obviously Yethel, those bastards had been eyeing our land for a long time." Said an ignorant soldier who didn’t know the true history. But what of it? Let them be ignorant.
What I cared about was the news that attacks conducted by Sheva had reached this banned city.
’Hah Sheva, I hope you have run away by now.’ I said, looking at the sky. A heavenly coercion suddenly caused me and many others to drop on their feet, as a loud noise came from the fortress. "The Martial Law has been lifted." With those words, A figure slowly floated out of the fortress toward the Amir’s manor, it was simple to know who he was.
But for now, I didn’t care about this figure, I just enjoyed the sigh of relief of everyone around me. Mostly soldiers who were glad that this all was finally over and they could go back to their regular lives.
While for the workers, they acted confused
"What now?" They thought, considering their workplace was no more, neither did they have enough energy to go to a new place and make a living.
There were loads of people dead as well, so there was some anger over this fate of theirs as well.
Which was a stupid thought to have, there will be labor needed to rebuild the factories once again.
Which will take time, money, and a lot less workforce, than it required when factories were active.
’Another death battle.’ I smiled, seeing that this was time to abandon this identity.
*****
"I have seen your excellency."
"At ease, There is no need for formalities." The man’s name was Deimos Unch Bloodcrow, one of the Grand Generals of the Cynark military and the brother of the current ruler of the empire.
"If you wish as such." Amir nodded as if this was all natural before he asked.
"Now speak, what was so important that you requested to talk to me?" Despite being Amir’s grandfather, the man who stood in front of him looked as young as him. With dark hair and a long mustache that reached his neck, making him appear unkempt if not for the gaudy armor he wore.
A sign of his identity and also one of the greatest armor ever conceived in a Dwarven smithy called the Witchscale Armor, built using the bone shards from a disastrous being in the past.
"I wish to work on my project again, this time with proper funding of interest and talented individuals who can help me turn my dream into reality." As calm and collected were Amir’s words. The reaction he got due to them was a surprising one to easily the least.
"There is war on the horizon, there are suspicions of you for colluding with enemies and there are people aiming for your life. And you care for your project?" His grandfather already knew everything that had gone on in Amir’s life.
He was the one that was keeping a certain interested party at bay. And he had made sure that Burghim informed Amir of his current situation. Which would give him ample time to think through his situation and get his priorities straight.
But what is this? Still, blinded by something as illusory as his wasteful project?
"It’s not as wasteful as you think Grandfather. The enemies saw potential in it and hence spared me. Don’t you think, this means that my project holds value?" It was daring to use such shameful events where he was at the mercy of others in his dialog with his grandfather.
And the result was expected. "Foolish child." With those words, Amir was forced onto the floor under the coercion of his grandfather. "Don’t you know how bizarre the world is?" He asked, but Amir didn’t speak a word.
He never even struggled, just staying on the floor like an insect.
"Do you know about hexes?"
"Ta...targeted... cur..ses." Amir spoke with some struggle.
"Correct, then have you heard about blood hexes?"
"..."
"I see the issue now. Your nonchalance was brought by your ignorance." Deimos spoke while lifting his hand, taking off the pressure from his grandson.
"Get up."
"Blood hexes, does it have something to do with my blood to cast curses?" Amir said, dusting off his clothes before asking his grandfather, showing no anger over his treatment.
"Your mind hasn’t been completely consumed by your work. Which is good." Deimos said with a smile as he appreciated how much Amir was able to learn just from the words of Blood Hexes.
"Those people had no interest in you, those aware know the value of your blood. And with an active donor, the danger you would carry to your true family would be immense."
"I... I understand. I apologize."
"It’s good that you understand. Because there are few more things we have to discuss."
It was then that Amir learned what was going on and what country they were going to war with. "The war is not too far off, and with the weapons they have created, it’s unpredictable how it might go."
"Are you saying, we might lose?"
"Haha, child. Don’t joke around so much, my heart is not as strong as it used to be." Deimos said with a laugh. "They are just insects who are struggling at the death’s door. All they could do is maintain the status quo, it’s impossible for them to overcome the vast difference in power."
At this point, Deimos paused for a bit, before slapping Amir on the shoulder and saying. "It’s why I want you to go and lead men on the frontline. Make a name for yourself on the battlefield. This is the only way you can prove your innocence in the eyes of that existence."
