Chapter 358: 6.06.1 Meeting Fahna.
"Are you here?" Amir asked about the new mirror that was installed almost recently in his new room. But no response came from this new mirror. Which was somewhat expected, considering the current trend of the Colony.
"So you ran away or probably got caught. Meaning, I don’t have to worry as much." He spoke to himself while going back to his work.
How long will this quarantine last, Amir was not aware. He didn’t know what was going on in the War Fortress nor cared for the reason why his Grandfather still considered him compromised. He just wished to go back to his regular schedule and forget about the things he saw, which included countless burnt bodies under the heat of those weapons.
Furthermore, he wished to forget it, he wished to forget about it all. The only issue was, if he could do it or not. As recently, the dreams he saw had turned a bit disturbing to say the least.
’Occupy the mind, don’t give it time to think.’ Amir murmured to himself while starting his work on the engine again.
Hemant on the other hand, on account of being outside had been able to leave the Luthanza and picked up on a lead that led him to a small town in Wortham Principality.
Rasat, a breezy town close to the sea, was infamous for its high cost of living, and only nobles, businessmen, and high-ranked Military personnel could afford it.
This was also home to many of the retired generals, and those that were not Generals but had some special identity, like the Maisel family.
But Hemant has only arrived in the town with his intentions clear. He was taken in by Town security and questioned for hours over his identity and intentions.
Which made Hemant aware that the job that Prince Amir sent him was not as simple as one might have thought.
"Just go from here... even if he is a prince, this is not something he should worry himself with."
There were over a hundred people in the Cynark kingdom with the title of Prince or Princess. And not all of them were made equal nor did they hold the same kind of authority in foreign states.
Which was the case for an unknown Prince like Amir. Who was just new to his life to royalty and held next to no authority. Making him a prince in Name only.
So Hemant was kicked out before he could enter the city, under the warning that he shouldn’t wander around so much when the country was on high alert and Knights of his level shouldn’t travel so much, considering they can be misidentified as an enemy.
Go back and don’t speak about it were the answers he got. Without even seeing the door of Maisel’s household.
Or so it would have been, but in a room not too far from his, there was another interview being done. "Have you confirmed it?" Fahna asked the officer, who nodded with some sweat falling from his face.
"Yes Officer, I am sorry for the delay." The man said while leaving the room soon after.
But Fahna hadn’t calmed down even now.
She came here a month ago, but due to certain changes in Luthanza, that she was still ignorant of. She had been held captive by a security officer, just a few kilometers away from her mother.
What kind of ugly fate was this?
Can’t she just go home?
But she knew if her town was on high alert, then things must be terrible.
Which came true, as she finally heard some things from a room not too far from her own. ’This Prince Amir, why is he looking for my family?’
Her family was very famous in Wortham Principality. But outside of it none even cared about them. Just one of the many that existed in Cynark and a potential future Noble considering that the daughter of Maisel was equally if not more talented than her father, earning prestigious achievements on the battlefield at a young age and close to earning herself a title as well.
However, with the death of the patriarch and the disappearance of an unknown member of their family, that potential was soon to disappear from the world.
A harsh fact that Fahna was very much aware of.
So why would someone out of the state of Wortham come and look for her family?
A family with no value besides a disappeared brother who carried something precious in him. Along with a dead father who did some heinous stuff in the name of his country.
Or was it the last one, the very last one that her brother had asked not to pursue?
’Jester?’ She wondered, thinking that fate really plays dirty games with her. Now that she is back and intends to go back to her regular life while accumulating strength. Something this odd happens.
Something so curious that she just has to see through it.
Not to mention, the man came from Luthanza, he might be aware of what happened there.
So, under her urge, the security was forced to agree to Hemant’s request. Which brought him to a room where Fahna was sitting quietly.
"Why did Prince Amir send you to look for my family." She asked, looking at the young man with brown hair, which seemed too young for the strength he carried.
The man was a genuine Master rank professional, a being much stronger than her. Which in her eyes was barely passable.
At least, his strength proved that Amir was not one of the wastrel Princes with no potential, considering a knight of Master rank had chosen to follow him.
"I am not that privy to the reason why Prince is looking for Madam’s family. I just did as was asked of me. As for the rest, I don’t know for certain if I could say it or not." The journey to Rasat has been a long one. It took him long enough to find the name Maisel in the registry, but the information available to him was all redacted.
Besides knowing the post and some open matters, there were almost no details about Varkus Maisel or what happened to him, including his death.
And the more he had tried to look, the more eyes started to follow him out of nowhere. Making him understand that things truly were not as simple.
The only thing he was able to find was where and when Varkus Maiseld died and his family history, which mentioned just a daughter, meaning the woman in front of him.
"Just tell me the reason straightaway, I am in no mood for any drama."
"... Prince asked me to find out about someone called Rat King, or Jester, perhaps. That’s all I know."
"... Tell your prince, that if he values his sanity. Then he shouldn’t look deeper." Confirming why this man was here, it was time to leave. And Fahna did just that.
She got up and went for the door, showing her intentions straight away.
"Wait," Hemant shouted, confused over why Fahna reacted in such a bizarre way. "Prince Amir is curious by nature, he is a scholar by nature, and once he has put his mind on something he won’t stop until he learns of it."
"So give me anything. Anything that will satiate his curiosity." Hemant explained his position.
Although he very much understood that this Rat king figure might be someone very dangerous, there was still nothing in front of the might of Legendary level beings who were protecting Amir at this very moment.
"I can tell you some things, but in return, you tell me how your master learned of this name, and what is going on in Luthanza."
"... It’s classified information, but considering the officer who interrogated me was aware of the matters, I don’t see any problem in hiding it from you."
"Good then, a proper exchange." Fahna sighed.
She really didn’t wish to involve herself in Jester’s matter anymore. But if she could earn a compatriot at this moment by helping the prince, why wouldn’t she do it?
Not to mention, this way, she could probably harm Jester indirectly.
"I will speak of rules, the dangers he possessed, and his affiliates, nothing more than this." She emphasized before stating the later details of what Jester was and what he was doing, along with what he had done in Durum.
At first, Hemant found this Jester figure a bit absurd. Before he soon understood his horror as the more he heard, the more he understood why the things in Luthanza were so weird.
’I have to tell this to young master soon enough.’
It was the second day since meeting Fahna that he left for Luthanza. Hoping that his young master hadn’t made any foolish mistake under that being’s influence.

"The chef seems well and alive since I went away?" It was after a long while that Amir was finally able to smile a little.
"He was smart enough and didn’t leave the Manor when the containment started. It is how he was able to survive in peace while the world outside of Manor is turning desperate as time goes by."
"So you see their desperation and the containment still hadn’t been lifted off."
"If the factories were still active, things might have been different. But now, the population is just a burden in the eyes of the leaders."
"... this is so inhumane."
"No young Prince, this is how you manage the ignorant masses." Burghim smiled, while handing Amir some tea.
