Chapter 163: 3.08.5 Need to leave.
Few in Bothal knew that Pulgasiri also employed Mages in their ilk. A fact kept hidden due to national pride that claimed to have left magic behind through modern technology alone. Their desire to not use magic to solve their problems is the very reason for the people of Pulgasiri’s innovation.
This became the reason why people in Pulgasari didn’t employ Mages in their organizations and if they did employ them, then it would be like a normal employee and not a mage. With few exceptions like a private firm hiring a mage as one of their guards. Though these guards were obviously small-time mages and nothing special.
However, the ones employed by CBI were different.
"Each one is Master level," Salveraz said while completing his meal and then looking toward Fahna. "Don’t wait or waste any time. They are a dangerous bunch, so leaving now will be better."
"I still need to find a safe place for you, before I go... it won’t be long before they attack you," Fahna said while looking toward Kasim, who turned his head to the side. He seemed to have already made up his mind. "Do you think they would actually dare to come out and attack now? CBI has taken over the case and even the Police Chief would be shitting his pants at this very moment."
"A CBI officer is much more dangerous and holds the authority to even drag a minister out of his home with just suspicion alone. Meaning, all of this is dangerous now. Too dangerous for anyone to act wildly anymore." It was Salvarez’s long-winded way of saying that he would be safe and Fahna could leave. "It’s better to be safe than sorry. I will leave notes on some other hiding places I have found... but, it will be harder for you to move, with that body."
A giant bear-like body. He looked like a giant dwarf, which sounded odd when I said it. But this was the truth. Making him stand out if Salvarez ever chose to leave this place. But he just shook his head, asking Fahna to not worry too much. "I have my ways, so don’t worry. Just come back when things slow down. As even the demon you came here to look for won’t dare to act anymore.
"If that’s what you think... I just hope nothing bad happens."

Gaitoynde was at the home of Krugal, looking at the destruction and the bodies he recovered.
A total of three they were, two servants and one bodyguard. With the father and son missing. One among which seemed to have put up some fight, from the looks of it.
’No bullet casing.’ Which cut off the chance of it being the duo that attacked the Dwarf from the red dragon bloodline before.
But that was not the thing that worried him.
"Did someone touch the scene before we came here?" A Dwarf asked in a casual suit without any badge to signify his post. But Gaitoynde never dared to dally much before answering.
"No sir, we never did. We were only ten minutes ahead of you." He answered while sweating profusely.
Both were in fact Master master-level existences, but while he was a Knight from one of the most common bloodlines of Iron Tribe, the dwarf in front of him was none other than a rare Dwarven mage.
If a thousand in one among humans has a talent for mage, then for dwarfs, the ratio is ten times worse. And even then, dwarves rarely possess any noteworthy talent on the path of magehood.
Making the dwarf in front of him a rarity among dwarfs, an enigma. Not to mention, from the radiation that Mages innately exuded, Gaitoynde knew that he stood no chance against a being like this. An innate fear that came from his blood.
Which was weird, considering the figure in front of him was a mage.
"Pieces of burned flesh and then a body... nothing could have survived an attack of that nature, not when most of their outer flesh had been burned." The dwarf noted, then looked to the side, and with a snap of his finger, and an aura detection spell, multiple images formed up in front of Gaitoynde.
First was the body, a body that was lying on the floor, made out of illusory magic, one can’t make out proper details, just the build of the body. Which was.
"Human."
Then a few more images formed, showing how the man at some time had stood up and then walked out of the scene slowly before most of his flesh had burned down and fell to the side. Whose remains glittered in red light under the Inspection spell of the CBI officer.
"A man can walk off that kind of injury, have the undead entered the city somehow?" He wondered, recalling the names of all the mages that had recently come to the city before a few names popped up in his head. "Give priority to this scene, collect any traces of blood samples or or intact flesh."
"And I don’t wish to see any errors in this work, everything under my spell’s effect is to be collected. Don’t disappoint me."
"Sir, Yes sir!"
The CBI officer had the designated name of "Blue" and he was ready for some action.
Coming here was not a fluke, the regular shameful accidents and attacks were a disgrace to the country and it was for this reason, that the CBI which usually focuses on foreign spies or dangerous elements, came to handle a case of this nature. A case at the forefront of the world and there would be many eyes on them this time.
This was not a fight in the dark that he was used to, this time, he had to be a bit more merciful. A bit more tact so as to not attract any unwanted public attention toward him and his companion, who should be out there talking with the police chief.
*****
"Was this really necessary? Involving CBI into the mix is dangerous. You know how my companions can be."
"Officer Red. You don’t know the problems we are facing currently. I had no choice but to request help from you this time, if not. Everything the company is after would have been ruined. Not to mention, this time they hit one of the important links."
"Isn’t it just two individuals? With a bit more planning, it won’t be that hard to apprehend them." Officer Blue was a human, unlike his partner.
A handsome face for a human but carrying a walking stick with him, it was hard to say whether this was a fashion statement or just a crutch for someone old. "A planning would obviously lead some curious ones among my force to find some unsavory details. Which I don’t want to happen. Salvarez had already fallen out of my hands, I don’t wish to lose others."
Hearing the name Salvarez, the eyes of Blue shined for a bit, before he said. "If I am to assume, you asked for our help due to Salveraz and not the two assassins taking out the outer members.’ Red said with a curious smile, finding it a bit interesting. "So scared to kill him on your own? What do you wish for us to do here?" He asked.
And the old Police chief could only laugh at this point. "There is no need to hide it. Cree..."
With a tap of his cane, Officer Blue stopped the police chief before he could complete his sentence. "I would prefer it if you use my current designation." He said in a calm voice, but distaste was visible in his voice.
"... Ok Blue, you know him better than me. You should know how dangerous he is when he turns like that." It was a past that the Police chief had learned recently about. A glorious past that had left him a bit scared. But when he learned that there was someone who had survived the onslaught of Salvarez and that this person was someone he was very familiar with. He couldn’t help but involve him in this issue as well.
Not to mention, the chance of the company being exposed is super low currently, they have enough samples to work for the next two years without issue, so they would choose to remain low during these days. While others clean the house for them. The others obviously meant the CBI.
"Weren’t his claws neutered the last time I checked?" Blue thought, recalling how feeble Salvarez had turned after having himself a family. A total disappointment in his eyes.
But the police chief just shook his head. "There is a chance that he might go a bit crazy, it’s why I needed someone strong enough to handle him. That’s why I asked for you."
The chief’s words left Blue a bit curious, his back hunched and his eyes shined with bright light, as he questioned. "What have you been hiding from the CBI?"
