The Girl Who Hacked The Magic System -
Chapter 123 - Home sweet home
Chapter 123: Chapter 123 - Home sweet home
According to the elders, they will have a unified answer from all the beastkin in one month.
We can stay at max for three days, so we decide to come by at the end of my summer break. But still, I want to enjoy these three days.
I’ve brought with me some bread and pastries for the tribe. Well, it’s more precise to say that I stored it in my pocket dimension, so I didn’t really need to bring it with me physically.
I have actually taught Lovelace how to create her own pocket dimension, to have enough space to bring stuff for everyone.
It isn’t much, but it’s enough to make a difference in tonight’s celebrations. After all, of course the tribe would throw a party for our visit.
This really feels like home. A lot more than the sanitized mansion in the capital or the royal palace. These people make me feel like I really belong here, between them.
No Church, none of those complicated politics. Only the constant struggle for survival. It’s weird how hardships make life look simpler.
"What is this, Aurea?"
"Oh, this is a silkberry cheesecake."
"A silkwhat? Do humans eat those all the time? It’s so delicious!"
"Well, sadly not all humans, and not all the time. It’s a costly pastry to produce, so it’s a bit pricier."
"Oh, like rare meat cuts?"
"Yes, exactly. The thing that is more of an everyday food is the bread. Those are what people eat every day, while the cakes are only for special occasions."
"Today is a special occasion, after all!"
"Yes! Auntie Aurea, today is special because you are here!!!"
The little ones, of course, swarmed me as soon as I put cakes on the table. Some of them are old enough to remember the time when I took care of them when I lived here.
Some of them I changed and washed the diapers, though. They don’t remember me, but I sure do remember each one of them.
And they all call me Auntie Aurea. Even the ones who weren’t even born when I went to live in the human lands.
"But it’s not time to eat yet. The adults will be preparing the rest of the meal. Why don’t we play hide-and-seek?"
"Yessss! Let’s play!!!"
"Ah... I want to eat..."
"Later, later! Let’s play together!"
And that’s how it fell on me to distract the children while we wait for the celebration to actually start, as it has happened so many times before.
Yes, this is my home.

After the celebration finished, Yaci guides us to a tent near the one she shares with her mother, Mimby.
"This will be your tent for these days, you two."
"Thank you, Yaci! This really brings back memories."
"Yaci, are there patrols going out at this time?"
"Yes, Lovelace. They follow the same procedures as always."
"That’s great. I have been too caught up in the bureaucratic side of my work lately. I feel like I need to blast some monsters or I will rust away."
"Well, you know how it works, so feel free to do so."
"Okay, see you two when the sun rises again."
Well, that was a good cover-up, but I know that she was actually just being conscientious, letting me and Yaci have some time alone.
Can I marry them both? They are so amazing and wonderful!!
And gorgeous.
I’m with Yaci inside my tent, and my teenage hormones are through the roof. I’ve seen her many times before, even undressed, but I was not prepared for this.
She’s so hot.
"So, how has life been in the human lands? Have you managed to make some new friends there?"
"Eh... Ah, yes, there have been some friends at school. Four friends."
"Oh? That’s good, Aurea. Anyone who you are closer with?"
"N-no... They are more like school friends. Sometimes we study together, and that’s it."
"Hm... Are you okay? You seem strange."
"N-no, I’m okay. It’s just... It’s been so long since the last time we met."
"Yeah... almost five years. You have grown up fairly well, Aurea. But you don’t need to be so flustered near me... I’m the same as always."
"The same gorgeous woman as always, I know."
"Hehehehehhe. I see. So that’s the reason why."
"H-huh?"
"Don’t worry, I won’t bite. Remember our last conversation?"
"About waiting for my graduation?"
"Exactly. You haven’t graduated yet, have you?"
"No, there are two and a half more years."
"Then there you have it. In two and a half years you’ll be an adult. That’s where I draw my line."
"R-right."
Damn those hormones! I forgot completely the chaos that teenager times are. I don’t know how to deal with all this heat.
I wish there was a way to stabilize those hormones, like those puberty blockers from Earth. But they delay the full formation of the body, so they aren’t good in a long-term perspective; they only serve to postpone the inevitable.
Sooner or later, the hormonal chaos will get to you. And you will have to deal with it.
In my case, I’ll endure it.
"So, would you care to explain to me about that spatial magic of yours? It seems really useful for a lot of daily stuff."
And that’s how I spent the remaining hours before daybreak talking endlessly about my research and everything I’ve learned about magic.
Damn, Yaci. You know how to play me like a fiddle, don’t you?
"Good morning, you two."
"Good morning, Lovelace. Did you have a good time?"
"Yeah... I was really in need of releasing some stress."
"I pity the monsters that came up in your path, Lovelace."
Their laughter is so delicious. I wish I could be able to hear them more often in my daily life.
I really wish that the beastkin would accept the alliance. Not simply because of the war, but because then I will be able to see them both all the time during training.
And to fight together with them both, blasting the Church’s armies. Maybe I’m the one actually in need of going out at night and unleashing all my stress onto some monsters with really bad luck.
