The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 82: Outrage

Chapter 82: Outrage

"Is it possible that an abandoned ugly ger like you is implying that our esteemed Xuan family would stoop to theft within our own estate?" Lady Xuan’s voice, resonating with the commanding tone of a matriarch, was intended to shatter the tension and shake Xu Feng’s confidence.

Nevertheless, Xu Feng remained composed. He had braced himself for this inevitable confrontation. Although Lady Xuan’s words carried an air of authority, Xu Feng was not prepared to yield.

While a part of him longed to retort at the haughty woman, he struggled with the weight of modesty as a daughter-in-law. He was at a crossroads, struggling between his inner unrest and the expectations of his role within the Xuan family.

In the face of Lady Xuan’s verbal attack, Xu Feng maintained his composure. His voice, although composed, hid a quiet undertone of firmness. "Lady Xuan, should any misunderstanding persist, it can be politely resolved through a careful examination of the estate’s records. I firmly believe that truth will ultimately prevail."

Xu Feng’s reply refrained from immediate confrontation and shined truth on the matter. Who knows how long theft had been going on in the estate, but from the moment Xu Feng became the owner of Nanshan estate till now, many shady things had occurred.

Just looking through the wedding expenses would be big enough evidence of the Xuan servant’s actions.

Xu Feng was well aware that Lady Xuan’s words were intended to provoke a reaction, and he was determined not to provide her with the satisfaction of witnessing his composure crumble.

"How could anyone accuse us of theft within our own property?" Lady Xuan demanded, her tone still brimming with indignation.

As an inner battle raged on within Xu Feng, he began to slow his steps, his expression reflecting clear annoyance—to continue the verbal attacks or make a not so clean escape?

Sensing his irritation, Xuan Yang cast a brief glance at the vexed ger before turning around.

Xuan Yang’s expression remained composed, yet there was a subtle, almost frosty undertone in his voice. "The Xuan family’s servants did engage in theft from my wife’s estate. Our presence is necessary to oversee known culprits."

With this statement, Xu Feng’s party finally managed to exit the grand reception hall, and a victorious grin plastered Xu Feng’s face. He hadn’t turned back for long, but the image of Lady Xuan’s face painted in shades of shocked crimson, and the old Lady Xuan’s expression of sheer disbelief, was a sight to see. It was glorious.

Not only were the few servants present in the hall visibly flushed with embarrassment, but even both matriarchs wore expressions of irritation that could be seen from across the room, as if they hadn’t expected their son and grandson to take the side of their new daughter-in-law, Xu Feng.

As Lady Xuan was preparing to unleash her fury on the "ugly daughter-in-law," Xuan Muchen finally intervened.

His voice, though spoken quietly, carried an air of authority that made everyone left in the room shiver. The room was filled with an eerie stillness, and it was as if the very air had turned dense and electric with the aura and weaponized weight of an immortal bloodline carrier.

Though Xuan Muchen’s bloodline might be thin compared to Xu Feng’s party, its strength was palpable enough to exert influence over the humans who remained in the hall. His years of experience added to this presence, making it impossible to ignore his command.

With his timely intervention, Xu Feng’s party managed to exit the reception hall, leaving behind the turmoil in the room.

Xu Feng couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, and as they moved further away from the grand reception room, he couldn’t resist casting a glance back.

The cold, judgmental eyes of the Xuan elders bore into his back, like a weight he couldn’t shake off. But even more unsettling was the lingering gaze of Xuan Muyang, Xuan Yang’s father. The man’s lecherous leer sent shivers down Xu Feng’s spine, filling him with disgust.

He couldn’t comprehend why Xuan Muyang would act this way. Even after the blatant insult they had delivered in the reception room, the man continued to ogle Xu Feng with an intensity that left him feeling exposed and violated.

Xuan Yang remained resolute, his grip on Xu Feng’s hand never faltering. He was determined to protect the ger from the suffocating atmosphere in the reception room. It was something that warmed Xu Feng’s heart despite the situation.

At this grip, Xu Feng was reminded of the sweet aftertaste of this small victory, and a small smile appeared on his face. At that moment of release, a soft voice whispered by his side, carrying a provocative promise of conspiracy. "I have a surprise for you."

Xu Feng could feel Xuan Yang’s hot breath against his still-sensitive, freshly pierced ear, and it sent shivers down his spine, though he managed not to recoil.

And it was a promise that Xuan Yang intended to keep, he did have a surprise. He wasn’t all talk and no action. Despite their paper marriage, he proved to be a decent enough husband in his own way.

Xuan Jian followed closely behind, his face still masked in an icy expression. The two guards accompanying him maintained their professionalism, appearing unaffected by the drama within the Xuan family or the tofu being eaten in front of them.

As they left the main reception building of the Nanshan estate and entered the Flowering courtyard, Xu Feng released a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. The cold air outside felt like a welcome relief compared to the oppressive atmosphere they had left behind in the reception room.

Hand in hand with Xuan Yang, they approached the bustling activities of the Xuan servants, including those who had previously withheld their meals. As they drew near, Xu Feng could feel the eyes of onlookers on him, their expressions a mix of fear and hostility.

The dramatic confrontation in the kitchen the night before had left an impact on the servants, and the tension was intense.

And as they continued through the courtyard, Xu Feng couldn’t help but wonder about the surprise that Xuan Yang had mentioned. His curiosity simmered beneath the surface, eager to discover what his husband had in store for him.
