The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 80: Shameless

Chapter 80: Shameless

The morning porridge was a simple yet hearty meal. San’s culinary skills were on the rise, as she honed her ability to be more generous with ingredients in the kitchen. The porridge had a wholesome quality, filling the room with a comforting aroma.

The dining area was enveloped in stillness, the perfect backdrop for a peaceful breakfast. Xu Feng took each spoonful with care, savoring the subtle flavors that graced the simple dish.

As he ate, he found himself smiling, unable to resist the contentment that had settled over him. It was a small joy, but a joy nonetheless.

Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian, on the other hand, were fixated on the young mistress seated at the head of the table. They observed Xu Feng closely, their eyes tracking his every move.

Each small noise he made while enjoying the porridge was not lost on them.

Xuan Yang had nodded to Xu Feng upon entering the dining area, and Xuan Jian had greeted him with a smile during their second interaction that morning.

Xu Feng had acknowledged their presence with a composed expression, successfully concealing any hidden emotions, but his ears betrayed him by turning a visible shade of pink.

For Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian, the situation still felt somewhat uncertain. They were unsure of the nature of their relationship with the young mistress.

The events of the previous night hadn’t been necessary, but they had certainly been enjoyable. The morning’s "assistance" had been even more unexpected and left them questioning the dynamics of their connection.

Xuan Jian’s gaze remained fixed on the enchanting ger before him, his attention captivated by the man who continued to hum contentedly while savoring his porridge.

His movements were graceful as he picked up a piece of a fermented dish and savored its flavors. For a brief moment, he was in his own world, enjoying every bite. San had mixed some meat into the porridge, so the addition of kimchee was perfect.

As Xuan Jian observed Xu Feng, he was plagued by uncertainty. What had come over him the previous night? If the night had been possession, did the morning bring a blessing? Or was he too far gone by then?

Xuan Yang, meanwhile, glanced between the oblivious ger and his confused companion, his thoughts hidden behind an unreadable expression. He contemplated the situation, deep in thought.

The one person who seemed to be truly enjoying their meal was Xu Feng. He savored every bite, finding delight in the flavors that graced his palate.

While lost in thought, Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang had already emptied their bowls and managed to consume a significant portion of the side dishes that decked the table.

Their hearty appetites in the Blooming courtyard were in stark contrast to the meager meals they’d taken when dining in the main kitchen of the Nanshan estate. This contrast puzzled Xu Feng.

They were clearly big eaters when in the Blooming courtyard. Xu Feng couldn’t really understand how they could eat so little the last time they had a meal with Lady Xuan in Nanshan estate.

"All done," Xu Feng declared as both men cleared their plates and made a noticeable dent in the side dishes. "Is it too early to shoo your family away?" He raised the question, hinting rudely at the need for privacy.

Xu Feng raised his innocent gaze to meet Xuan Yang’s unblinking stare. The Shaolin Showdown lasted for a pitiful amount of time. Try as he might, he couldn’t maintain a straight face for more than a second as his shoulders started to shake with laughter.

"So, you do have some shame?" Xuan Yang responded with a hint of amusement in his voice, a smile playing on his lips as Xuan Jian openly joined in the laughter.

"Nope, I’m shameless," Xu Feng admitted, his own chuckles bubbling up in response to the happy and eased atmosphere.

The room echoed with their laughter, and Xuan Jian was the most enthusiastic of all, finding the two of them quite endearing in their interactions. Xu Feng had a talent for poking at both his and Xuan Yang’s hearts, and it was a welcome diversion from the looming formalities to come.

"Just as I thought," Xuan Yang said, his smile lingering.

"I’m not the only shameless man in this room," Xu Feng quipped to both men, a joking yet serious note in his claim. They had all shared an uncalled-for yet intimate morning, and there was no denying the boldness of their actions.

Rather than recoiling, both men held Xu Feng’s gaze, almost as if they were openly admitting their guilt, or lack of a guilty conscience. The air between them had shifted, thick with unspoken emotions.

As much as Xuan Yang wanted to linger in the comfortable space they were building together, and explore, he knew they couldn’t delay the inevitable any longer.

"Shall we go greet the elders?" Xuan Jian interjected, refocusing the conversation on the impending meeting with the Xuan family’s elders. It was a necessary shift from the playful banter to the more formal matters at hand.

The grand reception room of the Nanshan estate was an exquisite piece of architecture, adorned with elegant decorations and intricate designs.

The walls were adorned with silk tapestries and ornate woodwork, and the room was illuminated by cloth and paper chandeliers, something Xu Feng had never seen in modern Dongmen.

As for the Xuan family elders, they were dressed in traditional Donghua, ornate robes, befitting their high status. Their garments were embroidered with rich, intricate patterns in various shades of deep purple, symbolizing wealth and power.

While the robes certainly looked regal, they didn’t appear to be the most comfortable attire for a journey in Xu Feng’s opinion.

Xu Feng, on the other hand, had a preference for coziness, something his current ensemble lacked. In his heart, he felt he was better suited to be a sloth rather than a fox, especially when it came to enduring the constraints of elaborate clothing.

Once Xu Feng, accompanied by both Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian, entered the room, he couldn’t help but feel a strong desire to leave. The elders’ stern gazes bore down on him, and the atmosphere was far from welcoming. Sensing the tension, he decided to keep his interaction brief.

With a graceful yet simple bow of the neck, Xu Feng mirrored Xuan Yang’s gesture as they greeted the elders. After exchanging polite pleasantries and glancing at the cold demeanor of Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian, he seized an opportunity to make a swift exit.

"Husband, let’s supervise the main house servants," he suggested, pointedly with distrust dipping from his every pore.

Shots were fired.
