Chapter 605: Morning Stretch
Chapter 605: Morning Stretch
The silence was only punctuated by slow, steady breathing.
The room should have been dark at this early hour, but a faint, whitish brightness filtered in, casting soft shadows along the walls and floor. Outside the window, a thick layer of freshly fallen snow blanketed the world, reflecting what little light there was, making the pre-dawn hours glow in an unnatural stillness.
Despite the frigid landscape beyond the walls, the room itself was warm. The heated flooring radiated a steady, comforting heat, while a sturdy iron stove, positioned at a safe distance from the bed, provided an additional layer of warmth. This winter had been much colder than the last, requiring more precautions and heavier blankets, even with the major renovations, to ensure that the cold was kept at bay.
On the massive, king-sized bed, thick layers of down-filled blankets were piled high—an upgrade from the simple cotton-padded ones used in milder seasons. And beneath all those layers, a tangle of silver hair peaked out. Its owner was comfortable... and incredibly sore.
This winter had been nothing like the last. It wasn’t just the cold that had settled deep into the bones of Donghua’s northern regions but the sheer relentlessness of it. The snowfall had been unyielding, covering everything in sight, weighing heavily on rooftops, and burying roads that once connected towns with ease.
Maybe in the warmer kingdoms of Dongzhou, this wasn’t as much of an issue. In the southernmost territories, places like Baitudi and Tiantang, winter was little more than a mild inconvenience. But for the three kingdoms that had portions of their land stretching into the colder north—Donghua, Shechao, and Zhandou—this winter had been unlike anything they had seen in their lifetimes.
Zhandou, which sat just south of Donghua, had suffered the most. Many of its border towns had been left woefully unprepared for the severity of the season, their so-called ruling families refusing to lend aid to those struggling in the cold.
In desperation, brave men had made the trek north, crossing into Donghua, hoping that the capital city—so much closer to their borders—would offer them the help their own leaders would not.
Nanshan Estate had not turned a blind eye to their struggles.
Even though they hadn’t returned to the city of Donghua or met with the Xuan family over the long winter, the estate had quietly taken on a leadership role, sharing resources and aid to those affected at the onset of the bitter season. Fortunately, Nanshan village was well-stocked, as was the estate itself, and the people of Yilin Town had long since learned to save away food for hard times.
It had been a long, cold season, but within the walls of Nanshan Estate, life had continued in warmth and security. The newly renovated courtyards and expanded quarters had made it easier to house the newcomers, and even with more mouths to feed, they had passed the bulk of the winter in relative comfort.
Even so, comfort did not mean Xu Feng wasn’t currently paying the price for his choices.
He was sore.
Painfully sore.
And with how the snow still piled high outside, he doubted he’d be leaving the warmth of this bed anytime soon.
With a groan, he tried to shift in place, but even that was a struggle. He shifted carefully, knowing that any sudden movement could make things worse. The last thing he wanted to do was wake the men next to him.
Then again, they were probably already awake.
’A ger had it tough.’ Xu Feng thought to himself.
Neither Xuan Jian nor Xuan Yang—his oh so lovely husbands—had shown him mercy last night, and the lingering ache in his body was proof of that. He had clearly been cleaned up, but the dull soreness between his legs couldn’t be ignored. Even with his wood abilities, he hadn’t fully recovered from satisfying his dragon and his snake.
As the memories from the night before flickered in his mind, his breathing became unsteady. He had already given birth to two healthy cubs. By all logic, according to Xu Zeng, his "scent" and "heat" shouldn’t be as strong. It should be more manageable. And yet...
His desire for his men was still a beast of its own.
It was almost overwhelming at times. At the very least, he wasn’t a mess of uncontrolled hormones like before, but still...
A shift in the air pulled him from his thoughts... the hazy memories from their adventures during the night. The scent in the room surged, thickening ever so slightly. Rustling sounds became more audible to his right.
Xu Feng tensed as Xuan Jian’s arm, which had been draped lazily across his waist, moved—his palm trailing over the curve of his stomach with slow, deliberate strokes. Like he was stoking a fire, gently, intently.
At the same time, a chill crept up Xu Feng’s spine.
From the other side, he felt Xuan Yang’s gaze lock onto him—cold, dark, piercing. A snake’s patience, a predator’s attention.
Xu Feng swallowed.
Suddenly, the soreness didn’t seem like such a bad thing. If he was being honest, last night wasn’t just about satisfying his lovers, it wasn’t a dance with only giving; there was also taking. It was push and pull.
It takes two to tango and three to do the acrobatics they’d accomplished the night before.
Even with the blood red mole at the center of his head—what seemed to be a beacon for many men—Xuan Yang’s dark eyes were trained on Xu Feng’s brown eyes, like a predator who had sighted his prey. Xu Feng couldn’t help but be sucked into this gaze, his own desire building.
Suddenly, it felt too dry. Was the fire burning too hot? Why was his body so thirsty?
Xu Feng reflexively licked his lips, his pink tongue darting out and wetting the bow-like expanse. It wasn’t dry at all, but he couldn’t shake the feeling.
"So cute." Xuan Yang let out a barely audible statement that froze Xu Feng and his hungry thoughts. But only for a moment.
"Do you know how tall I am? Have you seen my muscles?" Xu Feng’s lips twitched. He was a seven foot tall man! Well, not literally... A seven foot tall ger! Okay, still not literally, but he was damn tall and pretty fit. Lean, but still fit. Even if he was considered a bit androgynous, he couldn’t accept the title of cute.
Cute, that should be saved for more petite gers and women. Someone like Bai Mo, or even Sun Ming Hua. He wasn’t cute.
"I am a sexy beast!" He huffed with a small smile building at the corners of his lips.
Xuan Yang’s lust was disrupted immediately, his face reflecting the ripples in his heart. They seemed to speak to Xu Feng, saying something along the lines of, ’my lover is bat shit crazy. Do I still want to put my xxoox is his xoxox?’
The soft laughter from his other side didn’t help at all. One person was laughing and the other was deeply reflecting on his actions, reactions, and everything in between. The heat seemed to wane for a moment, but his heart was waxing. He loved them both.
Even such an intimate moment—well, the beginnings of one—could be disrupted by him and they would still love him, coax him, and work together to build a more comfortable life as they grew stronger.
"Feng Feng..." Xuan Jian could only get out his pet name between bursts of low laughter and strained breathing. Still, his name being called so affectionately was in itself a turn on. Whether it was ’Feng Feng,’ ’Feng-er,’ or... even if they called him ’hot cakes’ or ’sexy legs, ’ it’d be cute... kinda.
Xu Feng shifted slightly, ignoring the ache in his muscles as he turned toward Xuan Jian. The man was still laughing, his deep, amused chuckles vibrating against Xu Feng’s skin where their bodies touched.
Without giving him a chance to react, Xu Feng leaned in, capturing Xuan Jian’s lips in a slow, lingering kiss. The laughter cut off instantly, swallowed by the press of their mouths, the warmth between them shifting into something else entirely.
At the same time, Xu Feng reached down, intertwining his fingers with Xuan Jian’s, stopping the teasing strokes against his belly. His touch was firm but affectionate, grounding, making it clear who was in control of this arrangement.
Xuan Jian exhaled softly through his nose, squeezing Xu Feng’s hand in return before finally pulling back just enough to murmur, "You’re awfully bold," he hesitated for a moment before finishing his sentence, ’sexy beast.’"
Xu Feng smirked against his lips. "And you’re awfully smug but so right. I am a sexy beast. The sexy beast."
A deep chuckle rumbled in Xuan Jian’s chest, but before he could respond, a sharp exhale from the side reminded them both that they weren’t alone.
Xuan Yang, who had been silently watching this exchange unfold, finally seemed to pull himself together. His eyes, which had momentarily looked as if he regretted all his life choices, sharpened back into focus.
He let out a slow, measured breath before shaking his head. "You two are..." It was like he couldn’t find the words to give his previous gaze meaning. Was it shamelessness? Was it endearing? Was it a sign of delusion? Xuan Yang was clearly confused, but it wasn’t anything new.
Xu Feng turned to him with a grin. "Do you want a kiss?"
Xuan Yang seemed to be deliberating, but his focus on the flushed lips made it obvious what he wanted. Xu Feng’s smile blossomed, with his dimples on full display.
