Chapter 588: They See Me Strolling...
The streets of Yilin Town bustled with life, the crisp autumn air carrying the mingling scents of roasted chestnuts, freshly baked buns, and simmering broth from street vendors’ stalls.
Xu Feng rolled his eyes as he listened to the easy banter between the two men in front. Xu Zeng always had an excuse for everything, but even so, Xu Zeng couldn’t be too sharp with Xu Hu Zhe. He noticeably softened his words with Xu Hu Zhe all while still picking at him.
At least they were enjoying themselves.
Xu Feng’s lips twitched, but he purposely avoided looking at Xuan Yang beside him. Yes, it was cute listening to the younger men bicker, but he wasn’t about to start a verbal sparring match with his husband.
Xuan Yang had a sharp tongue. Too sharp.
The snake’s brain was too powerful, and Xu Feng wasn’t prepared for that level of mental combat this early in the day. It could be fun bickering with Xuan Yang, but he would save that for a day he had some liquid courage to egg him on!
At last, their carriage pulled into a quieter section near the main market street, where stabling services were available. It was pricier here than at the front gate, but Xu Hu Zhe had chosen not to skimp on this particular expense today.
Perhaps because of the children.
Perhaps because even he knew that some things were worth paying extra for.
Xu Zeng swiftly hopped down to handle the horses, while Xu Hu Zhe secured the carriage and quickly moved to help the other man. A stable worker approached them bowing respectfully as he accepted the fee to watch over the horses. Soon, their group was ready to disembark.
Even without their most extravagant horses, their arrival had already drawn attention.
A large carriage pulled by several horses. Two masked coachmen—one with striking silver hair, an obvious show of immortal bloodline lineage. Who had an immortal bloodline carrier of such strong bloodline as a coachman? It would seem completely obnoxious to any bystanders.
It was a sight that naturally turned heads.
And now?
Now, they were about to draw even more side eyes and full on stares.
Xuan Jian was the first to descend, stepping down with ease before turning to extend a hand to Xu Feng.
With the sturdy calloused hand, Xu Feng was guided forward steadily. His navy blue robes cascaded elegantly around him as he landed lightly on his feet. The silver embroidery shimmered under the morning light, catching the attention of more than a few onlookers.
Eyes followed his every movement. He had dressed for this.
No mask. No veiling of his features.
The bright red mole at the center of his forehead was unmistakable, a striking contrast against his silver hair.
He almost felt like a well-bred stallion being put on display.
Xu Feng nearly forgot just how much he stood out in town. Not that his height wasn’t eye-catching even in the zombie plane, but here there were way too many features that caused others to stare. To top it off, his entourage always seemed to draw stares of their own too.
Behind him, Xuan Yang stepped down baskets in hand, his tall frame exuding effortless authority with his focus still on the little ones remaining in the carriage. With Xuan Jian, Xu Hu Zhe, and Xu Zeng in front them, the four men commanded attention without a single word.
They were striking in their own right, but not one of them seemed to pay any mind on the crowd. They were focused on their little dragons, little treasures, and the little children of the Lee family.
Four men moved with purpose, each focusing on their own tasks, as Xu Feng covertly glanced around at the onlookers before focusing on the tasks only he could do. After all, they had brought "strange artifacts" with them.
When he heard the first man in the crowd refer to the carriages as "strange artifacts," Xu Feng almost wanted to laugh out loud. It was such a common item in his old world—before the zombie outbreak—but here it seemed like a treasure lost to time, one worth its weight in gold, and then some.
The strange artifacts unfolding from the carriage were smooth, mechanical, unnatural.
But, it was practical in Xu Feng’s opinion. They could definitely get through town without the strollers, but it would be strenuous, and he wanted to do some... window shopping. There wasn’t too much space in the carriage, but he could eye ball a few things, right?
The baskets containing the four babies were carefully carried down by Xuan Yang, their tiny figures swaddled in thick blankets, and oversized blue onesies made them appear even smaller. Xiao Long and Da Long, in their matching animal onesies, blinked sleepily at their new surroundings, their tiny hands clutching at the soft fabric.
There was no obnoxious display from their papa and father today, so they took advantage of the ride to town to rest their eyes with the two treasures.
As the first stroller—a sleek, foreign-looking contraption—was unfolded with ease, the murmurs turned into outright stares.
It must have looked like sorcery, a step up from an ancient artifact.
Xu Feng sighed.
He could already hear the speculation but he couldn’t blame the people of Yilin Town.
They were unusual.
Strange even.
Some would say, magical. And by magical, he meant technologically advanced...
Not only did they have immortal bloodline features on display, but they carried artifacts unseen before—mechanisms that folded and unfolded without any apparent magic.
Were they rare cultivator relics? Lost techniques?
Whether rumors would spread, or how far they would spread, he wasn’t concerned about. It was a good way to make his presence known again.
But for now, Xu Feng had bigger concerns.
Namely, how to manage six children in the heart of Yilin Town, while still getting things checked off his to do list.
He had originally wanted to bring the largest stroller from his space—the one designed for older children with a detachable bassinet—but it had been too large for the carriage.
Instead, he had opted for two double strollers. One was designed for infants, fitted with bassinets where the two treasures would rest. The second one was outfitted with sturdy seats, which—had this been his previous world—would have functioned as detachable car seats.
Of course, there were no cars here, but maybe, if they had a custom-built carriage, the seats would have another use in the future.
For now, the bassinet stroller was perfect for the youngest two, while Xiao Long and Da Long were quickly secured into the larger stroller with proper straps.
That left Xiao An and Xiao Momo without wheels for this part of the adventure.
Xu Feng frowned slightly.
He had debated bringing the largest stroller, but space in the carriage had been limited. As much as he would love a carriage with infinite storage, that wasn’t realistic. Maybe he should have just tied the third stroller to the top of the carriage.
He was already being impractical by the world’s standards, shouldn’t he keep up his momentum?
For today, the two Lee children would have to walk.
"Xiao An, Xiao Momo," Xu Feng called gently.
The two children turned to him, wide-eyed and expectant.
"You’ll have to walk today. Think you can do that?"
Xiao Momo immediately puffed out his chest. "Of course!"
Xiao An hesitated, glancing at the growing crowd around them. Her fingers curled slightly, but after a moment, she nodded.
They had never ridden in a stroller before. Sure, they were curious about the contraption, but it wasn’t something they had ever relied on. To them, walking was natural.
Xu Feng reached out, adjusting Xiao An’s coat before giving her a reassuring pat.
"Stay close."
She nodded again, this time with more confidence.
Without prompting, Xiao An gravitated toward Xu Hu Zhe, her small hands latching onto the side of the stroller he was pushing. She didn’t need to ask—she simply sought stability on her own.
Xu Feng smiled before looking ahead to his husbands who were chatting about something up ahead with a light air. He couldn’t help but take in both men. They always looked good and dressed well—better than him, Xu Feng could admit he preferred to be comfortable more than stylish.
Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang were both accustomed to looking sharp, always upholding the propriety expected of men in their positions.
But between the two, Xuan Yang adhered to it more rigidly—he carried the weight of his scholar’s title and the reputation of the Xuan family’s young master, a mantle that demanded a certain level of refinement at all times. Xuan Jian, on the other hand, could occasionally be seen in more practical training clothes.
Still, seeing them both dressed for an outing, refined and effortlessly striking, was a reminder of just how lucky Xu Feng was. Looks weren’t everything, but he certainly hadn’t done badly in that department. He had some premium eye candy delivered straight to him—how could he complain?
Xiao Momo, however, had no interest in strollers or eye candy.
Rather than following his sister’s lead and sticking to the strollers, the little ger made a direct beeline for Xu Feng. Without hesitation, he reached for his hand, his tiny fingers wrapping securely around Xu Feng’s with pure, unrestrained joy.
Xu Feng exhaled, somewhere between amused and resigned.
From ahead, he felt the weight of two burning gazes.
Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian were watching him, their looks holding just a little too much heat.
Was it because he was being extra maternal today? Or was it simply because he was undeniably smexy?
Xu Feng would like to believe it was the latter.
With a soft sigh, he let Xiao Momo hold on and followed after his husbands, allowing them to lead the way.
This was a family outing, after all—not the time to start making heart eyes at them.
His husbands were eye candy.
His children were adorable.
