The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 562: Baby, Oh Baby...

Chapter 562: Baby, Oh Baby...

Xu Feng’s honor was at stake.

Although, to be fair, when wasn’t it?

A strange, manly, village ger with an ambiguous claim to respect—mostly due to his striking silver hair and the deep-colored mole between his eyes—Xu Feng had always been an enigma. His lineage was a subject of speculation within the main Xuan family, yet that curiosity never shielded him from being treated like livestock, bartered off as a tool for securing heirs.

His honor had long been a fragile thing, constantly trampled under the feet of his in-laws.

But that was then.

Now, even if he refused to take any more scholars’ exams, even if he hadn’t yet made his official debut into Donghua’s upper class—by marriage or otherwise—his name in Yilin Town needed to be spotless. His character, unquestionable.

Xu Zeng still had his future to consider, and whether they left Dongzhou or not, Xu Feng refused to let his brother’s potential be tarnished by lingering doubts about him.

His husbands agreed. This would be handled—neatly and decisively.

The tranquil cocoon of their morning was suddenly shattered by the creak of the bedroom door swinging open.

Xu Feng blinked, still tangled in the warmth of Xuan Jian’s chest, his limbs draped comfortably over the man. Xuan Yang, calm as ever, reclined against the headboard, eyes half-lidded but alert. All three turned their gazes toward the intruder.

Xu Zeng stood in the doorway, utterly unfazed, a cub snug in his arms—Xiao Long, still half-asleep, his little head resting on his uncle’s shoulder.

A distant shout echoed from down the hall, frantic and full of frenetic energy.

"Xu Zeng! How can you simply barge into a married ger’s bed chamber? He’s accompanying his husbands!!!"

It was Bai Mo’s voice.

Xu Zeng froze mid step as if the words had just reached him. For a fleeting moment, a rare flicker of self-awareness crossed his face.

But it passed quickly. It was in one ear and out the other.

He calmly adjusted his hold on Xiao Long, shielding the cub’s eyes with a large hand as he casually surveyed the scene—Xu Feng still sprawled over Xuan Jian, and Xuan Yang, looking every bit as composed as if he’d expected the intrusion.

Without a trace of remorse, Xu Zeng commented in his usual flat tone, "The rooms in Blooming Courtyard are much warmer than my courtyard."

Xu Feng’s face flushed noticeably, though thankfully, they were clothed. That didn’t lessen the awkwardness of being walked in on during such an intimate moment. He hastily pushed back his silver hair and began to untangle himself from Xuan Jian’s steady grip.

"Ah..." Xu Feng cleared his throat, his cheeks burning. "We’ll have to do some renovations in Budding Courtyard."

Yes, something else to add to the ever-growing list. He’d need to speak with Lu Lizheng about finding workers for the project. His brother deserved comfort in this house—especially after caring for his children through the night...and for the first three months after their birth.

Xu Feng stretched his arms out toward Xiao Long, who had wiggled fully awake in Xu Zeng’s arms. The little boy beamed, his face lighting up with an eager smile as he practically launched himself into his father’s waiting embrace.

Xu Feng caught him with a soft chuckle, squeezing him tightly.

Remembering his other son—and Bai Mo lingering outside—Xu Feng called over his shoulder, "Momo, you can come in. We’re decent."

Xu Feng’s invitation for Momo to enter their bedroom had barely left his lips when he caught sight of Xuan Jian’s expression—a sharp, tight-browed look that spoke volumes without a single word. Xu Feng’s shoulders tensed. Ah. Perhaps inviting his friend into their private space hadn’t been the wisest decision.

From outside, Bai Mo’s cautious voice replied, "We’ll wait in the small room!"

Ah, at least someone still had propriety.

Then another voice followed, more composed.

"I’ve prepared water for your bath," Xu Hu Zhe announced smoothly, likely already orchestrating the household for the day ahead. His restraint was a world of difference compared to Xu Zeng’s casual disregard for boundaries.

Xu Zeng hummed thoughtfully, adjusting Xiao Long against his brother’s shoulder. "I’ll wait for you in the living room. Should I bring Da Long in here?"

Xu Feng rubbed slow circles on Xiao Long’s back, smiling at his brother’s casual manner. But still, this Xu Zeng was cute. It was obvious he knew he was in the wrong. The bright energy he reserved exclusively for his brother—or at least that was the case the day before—was completely restrained.

"Yes please, I’ll come out—"

Just as Xu Feng was proposing a compromise, his brother shot out of the room like he was being chased by the hounds of hell. Xu Feng could swear he’d seen the infamous smoke clouds trailing after the taller silver haired man.

Xiao Long giggled at his dad’s open mouth, reaching his chubby fingers up like he wanted to see if this was something he could play with—much more fun than cloth toys.

Except, the little cub made eye contact with his "papa," the intimidating Torann was completely different than the version Xu Feng knew. He had stern papa written all over his face.

Like clockwork, the little baby’s hand dropped quickly, and he buried his head in his dad’s chest as if the shield could save him from his stern papa.

Xuan Yang’s lips quirked up as he watched the show. Their ger had a confused look on his face as he looked at the spot his brother had just occupied. Their cub was playing dead in said ger’s arms. And finally, Jian’s fatherly charm was... well, it was charming!

Was this what the rest of their life would look like? So colorful.

A few breaths later, Xu Zeng returned with the second bun in his arms. Da Long was fully awake. Seeing his brother in his dad’s arms, he looked to his papa who was closest—with seating unoccupied.

He opened his arms for a hug from the brown haired, papa.

Xu Feng looked at Xuan Jian, whose face had already returned to a more natural relaxed state, and then at the reserved Da Long. The little baby was so serious sometimes, still under his dad’s gaze, he smiled brightly showing off his few little teeth.

Xu Feng felt his heart melt. Too much cuteness so early in the morning. "Thank you, Zee."

Xu Zeng gave a noncommittal shrug but then smiled just as brightly as his nephew. "The boys ran through most of their cloth wraps. They urinated all night."

Xu Feng’s eye twitched involuntarily. Was he scarred?

"I’ll wait with Momo." Xu Zeng finished up. He let out this simple sentence as he placed the boys’ baby bag on the bed, before retreating from the room.

Xu Feng sighed, his whole family was adorable, he might just die from diabetes. Either that or the trauma from his children’s bowel movements. As he relaxed back into the bed, Xiao Long nestled against him. Xuan Jian let out a quiet chuckle beside him.

"Your brother has a special sense of timing."

Xu Feng groaned, burying his face in Xiao Long’s soft cheek. He wouldn’t give the man a reply. There would be no brother slander on his watch!

Xuan Yang reached out to greet both boys lovingly. "He came bearing great gifts."

The peace was shattered, but perhaps... this was their normal now. And Xu Feng wouldn’t trade it for anything.

It was then that Xu Feng felt it—a sudden, spreading warmth against his robes. A slow, creeping sensation. His head snapped down to look at Xiao Long in his arms. The little boy was grinning innocently, eyes wide and sparkling.

Xu Feng’s heart sank.

The cloth wrap was thin—too thin—and now thoroughly damp. The moisture had seeped through, darkening the fabric of Xu Feng’s robes. He needed to retrieve more supplies from the space. This cloth wrap used after they depleted his modern stock was too flimsy.

Xu Feng stared at his son, utterly helpless.

As if sensing the impending doom, Xuan Yang—whose hand had been reaching out to take Xiao Long—paused, his fingers hovering mid-air. For a brief second, his expression flickered between thoughts. Then, with a quiet sigh, his hand moved forward, gently plucking the damp, smelly boy from Xu Feng’s arms.

"Let’s get cleaned up," Xuan Yang said calmly as he moved into action.

He glanced around the room briefly, assessing his options, before turning and making his way toward the nursery attached to their bedroom.

Xu Feng let out a long, tired sigh and glanced at Xuan Jian, who was still observing him with a trace of amusement.

"What?" Xu Feng muttered, brushing at the damp spot on his robes with a grimace.

Xuan Jian’s lips barely quirked. Their little one was a troublemaker.

Xu Feng groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "It’s too early for this."

Little did he know that it wasn’t too early at all. He just added two more to his group of early risers. His sleepy head was the only one who liked to lounge around in bed until a normal mid to late morning time.

This realization would be followed by even more realizations about his duties and new skills as a new father to two active babies. Babies who also happen to be dragon and or snake cubs...

At least there was Xu Hu Zhe. The man hadn’t even faltered, preparing bath water for him at the crack of dawn. With that prepared, getting cleaned up was made much easier for the three adults and two cubs.
